Guest Andymac1969
I have loved having my G300, it has been a great workhorse and has always been reliable, and it was a bargain at £100 this time last year. Then along came the G510 at £130, dual core, Jelly Bean from the off, but only 512MB of RAM, not too bothered as I am not a gamer. Had a play with the two phones this morning and it is like night and day, the G510 is sooooooo much faster and smoother, it also feels like a house brick, when I lifted the phone out of the box, it was heavy and I thought the battery was already in it, but it wasn't, it feels so much better made and much sturdier. I did some benchmarks against my G300 running Electra JB ROM clocked to 1190mhz and it made mincemeat of it, the camera on the G510 is the same as the G300 I think, but when you take a picture, it is instant capture with no delay or lag at all. I have attached some pictures and screenshots, I hate Vodafone, I have already ordered my unlock key, but at £130 this is a steal, it isn't a S4 or a HTC one, but what it is for me is the next logical step up from the G300 budget phone I had, I just hope the developer community adopts it, as this could be very good indeed. Any questions on it fire away, the one that strikes me is how washed out the G300 picture looks in comparison to the G510 Edited April 22, 2013 by Andymac1969

Guest Andymac1969
nice, comparision , how does the battery compare, is it a lot heavier? It's a lot bigger than the G300 one, the phone is also noticeably heavier, it just feels a lot sturdier than the creaky G300

Guest Rico_89
Looks nice and for the price I'm tempted .. How smooth does Huawei's new EMUI run? Any major stutters?
Guest KenBW2
Looks nice and for the price I'm tempted .. How smooth does Huawei's new EMUI run? Any major stutters? No stutters at all, the Emotion UI is usuable, but I always wonder what's the point. Hopefully I can CyanogenMod/AOSP it up soon enough. Only drag is the RAM, but coming from a G300 you'll know what to expect there.

No lags, stutters or slow downs at the moment, the UI takes a bit of getting used to, but it is highly flexible, and maybe the boy geniuses will get AOSP on it
Guest princeotter
Whats the responsiveness / 'slideability' of the screen like compared to the G300 as I find the G300 screen a bit 'draggy' compared to say the wife's Samsung G2 ? Guest Billy323
There shouldn't be any reason why you can't download a launcher from the store like apex or nova and ditch the Emotion thingy anyway without hacking

It's fine. Remember that the specs are basically a Galaxy S2 with a little less RAM There shouldn't be any reason why you can't download a launcher from the store like apex or nova and ditch the Emotion thingy anyway without hacking Yup, ADW already installed. Will look at those though Is it dual sim? Not the UK model, no

Guest Higgy69
Funny how reviews commented that G300 had a light skin, now with the G510 Huawei has gone the other way with the EMUI. I thought I read that the £130 was wrong and that it ended up £179? £130 is a good price. I think I prefer bare bones Android skin.

Picked one up yesterday..and if you're already on Voda you don't need to pay the £10 top up. And so far I'm liking it... The UI takes a bit of getting used to, and the menu and back buttons being on the opposite side compared to the G300 has caused some confusion (not difficult with me sometimes) but it's a lot faster and smoother than the G300, for £130 a worthwhile upgrade. So far so good... Edited April 24, 2013 by Combat Gerbil
