Zynga's stranglehold on the 'with friends' gaming market looks set to be further eroded with the release of multiplayer online 'Scrabble' by EA and 'UNO with & Friends' from Gameloft.

Scrabble is available free from the Play Store with support French, Italian, German, Spanish, or Brazilian Portuguese languages. Multiplayer is facilitated via either Facebook or Origin and you can play up to 50 games at once. It's good to see that the game is optimised for both phones AND tablets.

The Collins Official Scrabble wordlist is included so you can check your words right in the game. A 'teacher feature' lets you see what your best word could have been after every turn. As you'd expect, an in-game chat feature is included.

The game looks pretty great but, being a free release, ads and in app purchases are pretty evident. Sadly no ad free option is available to purchase.

UNO & Friends is also available free from the Play Store. Again, multiplayer gaming is facilitated via Facebook and again the application is optimised for both pohones and tablets.

Games can be played against friends and family or against random players worldwide. Games can be customised with fun backgrounds, themed card deck designs & special effects. Boosts and Super Boosts are available to spice things up and weekly and all-time leaderboards let you see how you stack up against your friends and other players.

As with Scrabble, freemium is the order of the day!

I quite like the ceoncept of online multiplayer Uno as you can have games not just against a single player, but up to 3 other players, which is a little bit different.

I'm quite a fan of turned based multiplayer online gaming. Let us know what you think of the new releases!
