Hello, as most of you are aware unlocking the HTC bootloader voids the warranty on it.

My question is that what if I relock the bootloader via fastboot then flash the phone to stock rom via RUU, after doing so in bootloader it will state Relocked but the tampered above it will be gone.

Will doing this reinstate my warranty as I will be back on stock rom bootloader will be locked and no more root

Thank you

I know this might be a tad late, but for anyone else that's reading.. This is the answer I got from HTC.

Thank you for contacting HTC regarding your HTC Phone.

I understand that you are wondering what the rules are for repair of HTC phones with unlocked bootloader.

The warranty will only be voided if the mainboard of the phone has to be replaced. Other than that the warranty will be active -as long as no userfaults like cracks on phone\display and\or illegal software is descovered by repair centers.

I hope that this information meets with your requirements, should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us again.

So according to them, as long as the mainboard isn't in need of swapping you're all good. This would imply that almost any HW error will be covered on an unlocked device.

Note: I'm quite sure they'd toss the warranty away if you've gained S-OFF or if the bootloader shows ***TAMPERED*** even though it's a confirmed HW production fault.

You should get a 2 year coverage if your in europe , apple are loosing the battle in europe with its 1 year cover , now has to be 2 years on all its products which is good for the end user

unfortunately, that information is not correct. unlocking the bootloader will void you warranty even if the MB doesnt need to be replaced.

Hi,

My understanding is that in the case of a physical defect, due to poor manufacture it doesnt matter if you have unlocked the bootloader. My htc One has been back (twice now) due to this. I am afraid to say that you may have to remind the particular individual from htc support of this, as they dont all appear to know this.you may need to quote the 1982 Sale of goods act to them, and, in my case, after a prelonged escalation process (1 month), they decided they would repair the defects (or try to at least). I think If the problem is caused by software, thats a different matter. HTC know that my bootloader has been unlocked. The warning on with the unlock process clearly uses the word "may" invalidate warranty. This is my experience in the UK.

It's worth checking your phone's status and age on this page: http://sim-unlock.net/imei_warranty_chk/ . The site offers phone warranty lookup too. All youneed to do is to provide your cell's IMEI. I checked it few times with my own and my friends' phones and it has never failed me. I highly recommend it. You can read some opinions about this portal here: : https://www.google.com/shopping/seller?q=sim-unlock.net .
