Touch screen or track pad? Help req.

Good morning all,

 

I am just after a little bit of help, after several days scouring the internet has failed to provide answers. I have also conducted a couple of different searches on these forums.

A few weeks ago I broke the digitizer on my Orange Monte Carlo. I have rooted it, and installed several Roms since, and had recently done the TPT thing, so finally have a data partition which is useful! All was fine, but then I broke the screen. So I ordered a new Digitiser from China, off ebay, and it arrived a few days back. I fit it without problems, and then booted up. The issue then arose. Instead of acting as a normal touch screen would, it now acts as a trackpad might on a laptop. When a touch the screen a cursor shows, and then it moves relative to my finger movement, and to tap I just tap on the screen, and it clicks where the cursor is. This is sort of okay after getting used to it, until it comes time to typing on the keyboard, which is a very slow and tedious task. 

I have tried many things to fix the error, ranging from installing backups in clockwork mod, installing a different rom, trying numerous factory resets, but all efforts have been fruitless.

 

I am currently running the Essex rom, found on these forums, which I like because of the smallness of it, and lack in all the apps which simply aren't needed by me!
