Hey guys.

I just got an Omnia II, and I want to put Android on it. I want to know how they compare, and which release you think is the best.  These are the ones I'm aware of:

Hungarian O2Droid project (Beta2) http://o2droid.phj.hu/

Frenkiedroid (8.1)

CM6New by Almar & others (v4)

Froyo bundle by ritchietos (v2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1066313

Twister 2

Gingerbread CM7 (Alpha2)

The obvious important things to me are stability, functionality, battery life, performance, and future compatibility.  Any insights on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

O2Droid project (Beta2) is old and quite slow compared to others. a simple benchmark will convince you

Frenkiedroid (8.1) was a big step on i8000android but still slow compared to the following

cm6new is still beiing developed and one of the fastest and more stable (reccomemnded for sd card installation) - business colours

Froyo bundle by ritchietos (v2) is a little old and quite slow ROM

Twister 2 is as fast as cm6new, also stable (builded for phone storage installation) - fancy colours

Gingerbread CM7 (Alpha2) is the only Alpha ROM, the only cm7 ROM, but with still many problems (no camera, no fm radio, no gps, wifi partially working) quite fast. you can try it if you do not need camera etc.

or else of course i recommend cm6new or twisterv2. they are equally good. the choice is up to you.

OK I tried to install CM6NEW, but when when I select the TBI ROM file with the included image tool, it says "The image file requires an updated version of this program."  What do I do?

EDIT: I've tried 3 more versions, and they all say the trial period has ended. What a pain in the butt.

Why someone choose commercial software to make an image, when there is free software available is absolutely beyond me! At least o2droid had an automated installer. Hang it, I'll just try Twister instead.

you can try anything you want if fits you. and if you really like it you can make your own ROM, with your own installer. latest installers are not paid software too. nothing is cracked. nothing is violated. we do not break any rules of the site.

first read, then understand and last post please.

Some questions about Twister ...

Instructions are for phones with 2GB or 8GB. I think my phone says it has 16GB of internal memory. Should I do anything differently?

Also, does Twister overwrite Windows? What do I do if something goes wrong, or I want to put Windows back on?

normally you can flash a 16 gb phone too. of course windows mobile partition will not be erased, but you must read the installation instuctions a lot more carefully.

flashing an sd card can never hard your phone. flashing storage can destroy your phone if you are careful and erase or edit  windows mobile partition. you must keep a backup of everything. and double read, understand, post and solve your questions before you do anything.
