Y300-0151 with CM 10.2

Hi!

I recently bought a Y300-0151 and want to flash the CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM to it. I read many tutorials about how to accomplish this but I still have some questions: In some posts (like here: http://www.modaco.com/topic/363879-rom-fusionx-huawei-y300-beta-7-full-hwa-discontinued/?p=2150698) I read that the flash will mess up the frequencies of the phone, whereas other posts (http://www.modaco.com/topic/364103-does-it-matter-what-model-whether-g510-100-g510-200-y300-when-flashing-roms/?p=2152477) confirmed that everything should be alright if I use TWRP. Can anyone confirm one statement for me? Is it safe to install the Cyanogen 10.2 for Y300-0100 on the Y300-0151 ?
What should I do if it doesn't work? Is it enough to make just a TWRP backup so that I can restore my standard ROM or won't it backup my baseband?

Thank you very much in advance and best regards!

I have a y300 151 running this ROM. I can confirm it is working with no problems and did not mess up my baseband. I used twrp 2.6.3.1 - earlier twrp is not compatible. Do your backup. Wipe. Install. Don't forget gapps. It's very easy and shouldn't give any trouble.

I've found it best to wipe and install when I want to update. Seems less stable when I update to a new nightly without wiping.

Don't forget to set the storage option to use your SD card.

It's very easy.

  1. Just have your device rooted and install the latest TWRP.
  2. Download the CM 10.2 ROM.
  3. Boot into TWRP
  4. Do your Backup
  5. Wipe all except sd card and internal storage [i do not wipe internal storage because im too scared of losing the ability to boot into TWRP, its just paranoia]
  6. Install

I also have a y300-0151 and I used both cm 10.1 and cm 10.2 without problem.  As explained above just make sure to make a backup of your stock ROM to your sd card.  I also recommend that you copy that backup somewhere else (on a PC for instance) in case something happens to your sd card...

Installing a custom recovery and cm will not mess up your frequency table.  If you were to flash the wrong official firmware (those distributed by Huawei for the 0000 and 0100 variant) then it is another story as this would definitively mess up your frequency table.  As far as I know Huawei do not distribute the 0151 specific firmware to the public... so beware!  Just make sure to have that backup...

Good luck!

alright, thank you very much for your answers!

I installed CM 10.2 as you said without any problems. tomtruckie, what do you mean exactly by "set the storage option to use your SD card" ?

Another question: first I wanted to wipe all except the sd card, but doing this the display went black, I waited half an hour but nothing happened, so I restarted the phone and did a normal wipe. In my apps I see now things like the "Live Wallpaper Picker" which I can't disable... is this app a part of CM 10.2, do you have it too or did it just remain from the unfinished wipe?

Thanks again!
