Some info for anyone who has the hudl and is experiencing issues with the device, such as the touch screen becoming unresponsive. Contact Tesco Technical support, they now have a service in replace for next day replacement of your hudl, regardless of the store stock levels.

Made use of it last week.

Hi SYoung278,

Thats good to know, thanks for making everyone aware of that... As I know a few people have been having issues trying to get theirs returned and find stock levels preventing it... Thankfully my brothers was ok, as they did it pretty much next day anyway.... (he got lucky).

However, what I read last night is that Tesco sold 35,000 units in a couple of days, and sold a total of 300,000 since they came out less than 2x months ago. They sold out of their stock levels TWICE OVER!!! lol.

Bit gutting to hear a new Hudl 2 is just around the corner though, lets hope it comes out later in 2014, and not early 2014 otherwise there should be a reduced upgrade path.... As it's soon after the initial release....

Cheers, Lister

Me too, my screen plays up randomly but locking and unlocking the screen works every time regardless of if I'm playing a game, browsing of using Google drive

Thanks for sharing, does this work for your device after 14 days of purchasing it? I also found that pressing the lock button sorts the screen back out :)

Exactly the work around I was using. My hudl was 6 weeks old last week when I finally got sick of the touchscreen issue, replaced with no problem.

I'd be interested to know if the touch screen problem is still there on your new one...

That it can be got around by simply turning the display off and on suggests its a software issue, not hardware - that works on my Hudl every time when it happens. It's very similar to what happened on the original Nexus 7. The N7 issue was eventually fixed by Google with a software update which is what I was hoping Tesco would do.

If swapping the device is fixing it and the software is the same (I'm assuming it is otherwise we'd all be getting an update) then the newer device's touch sensors must be calibrated differently somehow, or be different hardware.

If so, Tesco should absolutely acknowledge that there is a problem on earlier devices and do a recall/replacement.

Hi Droibles, so far I haven't had the issue on the new one, but haven't had much play time on it. I will post back in a day or two and let you know whats happening.

To date I have not had a repeat of the touchscreen becoming unresponsive, however I am currently awaiting arrival of another Hudl due to another issue. If this one has problems I will be looking for my money back and buying something else and I have advised the tech support line of this.

I rang the helpdesk and they informed me that the touchscreen becoming unresponsive is software related and a fix via an update is coming out before the end of this month. I am waiting for this and an update for an HDMI problem (also software related) due for middle of February, to fix my Hudl. If it doesn't I will return it.
