Guest Balerion Posted May 12, 2014 Report Share Posted May 12, 2014 So I was near a pipe that was recently used so it was very wet, and I got a notification from my phone and I don't know how I managed to do it but when I pulled my phone it slipped and fell in that pipe. It was there for 30 secs at most (because it somwhow got stuck in that pipe). When I pulled it out of the water the screen was black but iluminated (the same black that is shown when screen powers on) and the flash was flashing (bearly visible). Of course I pulled out the battery right away and cleaned my phone with a towel. Now I have left my phone in a small container filled with paper tisues (I didn' have rice). My question is: does it look like my phone is broken or will it work again, and what else should I do? :( And it was such a good day... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You should still do that as soon as you can. I'd be surprised if it survives this but you'll just have to give it time to dry out (ideally in rice) and then see if it works. I'd be surprised if it survives this but you'll just have to give it time to dry out (ideally in rice) and then see if it works. I'll go buy rice, and how much should I let it dry before I try it? I also have another question, I don't know if you could answer it but here it goes: In case it doesn't work and I send it to service (it still got warranty) and replace the battery with one that doesn't have the moisture sticker turned to pink could the guys there still figure out that the phone was water damaged? lol Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Balerion Posted May 14, 2014 Report Share Posted May 14, 2014 Ok, so I got my phone out of the rice to see if it works. It did, it got to the huawei boot screen but I noticed that the screen looked foggy around the edges ( i don't know how to describe it) so I pulled the battery fearing that there is still some water in there and left it dry some more. The way the screen looked, is it because of the water and leaving it to dry some more should fix it? Or is that the way it will always remain? Guest Balerion Posted May 16, 2014 Report Share Posted May 16, 2014 Ok, so the screen is still pretty wet or foggy (it wasn't as noticeble under the black background), I'm leaving it back to dry in rice but I'm starting to feel that it won't make it any better. Can I send it to a service so that they dry the screen? Everything seems to work normal even the screen, it just that you can see clouds of humidity giving it a 3D look, lol. If so you might need a replacement and it's still possible that the water damage might cause other problems now or in the future (e.g. corrosion etc.). Even if it is under warranty I would expect that water damage like this was excluded. That being the case you'd have to weigh up the cost of repair (and the possibility of ongoing problems due to water ingress) against the cost of getting a replacement phone. That's exactly how it looked (though not as bad). I was away for the weekend so I left my phone in rice, today I came home and I was pleased to dicover this: The screen looks really good, there are still a few really small marks, which I expect to go away soon. Guest wards5150 Posted May 27, 2014 Report Share Posted May 27, 2014 I'm glad your phone survived I had a similar experience. Mine had a bath as I left in in my pocket after mountain biking. Left in in the soak my clothes. Only remembered half an hour later when I went looking for my phone. After a day in the rice it came back to life and is still going strong today.
