Netbooks are dead - long live the netbook! Archos have unveiled the ArcBook, and Android powered device in the netbook veign, with a 10.1" screen.

Priced at 'under £139.99' (whatever that means), the ArcBook brings a keyboard and trackpad to the Android experience while of course retaining a touchscreen.

The device's specs are relatively low end as you'd expect at the price - the process is a Rockchip RK3168 1.2GHz Dual Core item with 1GB RAM, the display is a somewhat last-gen 1,024x600 panel and onboard memory is limited to 8GB (although it is expandable via microSD). The device runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is preinstalled with Office suite Pro 6.

As a Google certified device the ArcBook allows access to all Google services, including the Google Play Store and Google Drive, with 15 GB of free Google Drive cloud storage included.

A full USB host port is built into the chassis and the 8000mAh battery provides enough juice for more than 10 hours of continuous use.

Efforts in this space have been somewhat lacklustre to date... can the ArcBook buck the trend? We're not convinced, but we'll reserve our judgement and give the machine a try!
