Ok so this is my eagerly awaited version of LiquidSmooth, mainly based on the great work of Adam77Root's work on his dev tree, my own adaptations and ArchiDroid's optimizations.

https://github.com/JustArchi/android_build/commit/0cf89401cc8092dda959b5746ec4899fda756cec

The ROM in question:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/yqsrfa8h247m4bc/LS-KK-v3.2-2014-07-21-p880.zip

New version 08-05:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/1rn7l0nifrz91co/LS-KK-v3.2-2014-08-02-p880.zip

New version 08-17:

Mourta-LS-KK-v3.2-2014-08-17-p880.zip

This version has the 08-12 kernel so there is no need to flash that too.

This version is ART compatible.

Mourta-LS-KK-v3.2-2014-08-22-p880.zip

Install, let it boot, enter kernel tweaker and set intelliplug to boot by default, reboot and you are on your way.

I'm not going to go one by one for all the chanes here, it's a MASSIVE update, moving from cpuquiet to intelliplug is just a small part.

New version 09-16:

LS-KK-v3.2-2014-09-18-p880.zip

Almost all the goodies everyone ever asked for and it's got a new kernel.

After initial bootup, do the above, unless it's already in order.

This ís a three way compromise that can be optimized, this can reach over 8k in quantum, over 27k in antutu without overclocking but to run it that way you'll sacrifice a lot of battery, it can also go over 4 hours of screen on without overclocking or undervolting.

Everything is exposed to the sysfs so have at it.

----------------------------------------

Anyone using this version will wonder "what did you change to do this"? It's the next step in development, heading for the massive kernel changes ahead.

ROW, abyssplug, no overclocking and you get this: http://www.mediafire.com/view/zgpunw0yz3dx54v/Screenshot_2014-08-01-18-21-33.png

If this for some reason shouldn't boot properly the solution is to install my kernel from my thread, use the latest version.

Installing it is as easy as wiping everything and installing it if you're coming from another ROM, if you are coming from a previous liquid of mine then just install it.

You're going to need 4.4.4 gapps to go with this or you'll experience problems with the gapps process.

I recommend installing the kernel even if it boots, it's a much improved kernel.

If something doesn't work, you did something wrong. ;)

HI Mourta

is this ROM EXT4 or F2FS compatible ?

thank you :)

All my ROM's for all forseeable future will all use ext4.

I think i might have to make a thread about the negatives of using f2fs for anything but a testing ground at this point.

f2fs isn't a good solution for what it was intended to be a good solution for. It's a GREAT solution if you have an actual mechanical hard drive in your phone or if you are running a database server.

But a phone doesn't run large database functions and you don't do a lot of writing to your phone, this is what f2fs is better at.

What you do do is a LOT of reading (especially after initial boot) and since we don't have a mechanical disk where sectors are read from different parts of it and thus the head needs to move from one part onto the other we just have sequential reads.

And here is the ONLY thing you need to know about f2fs that matters to your phone, it's about half as fast at sequential reads.

To me it seems that some devs just look at what other devs are doing (mainly the grouper devs for us) and they do that without even thinking twice about it, testing it or trying to improve it.

I don't consider that good development, i don't even see that as good development at all. Devs have proposed to me that i didn't add all these things to the kernel myself but when i challenged them to find it anywhere else they failed. I'm not going to re-invent the wheel, i will use other devs work and be happy with it, other devs will use my work and i'm happy with that, but what i will not do is just add code because someone else did it.

I test everything before release.

Hi Mourta

Firs, thank you for your great work in the ROM and the Kernel .. they're both great .. :)

Good work must be appreciated .. thank you ..

Secondly, I have setup the ROM and the kernel, and everything is looking great .. currently I am seeing 2 minor issues ..

- The Google search bar is displayed empty (no Google text or the mic) ..

- Keyboard doesn't have Gesture typing working (found in settings, but when I try it, the keyboard disappears :( )

I will continue testing it for a couple of days, especially the battery life .. and see how goes :)

thanks ..

Yeah, i'm not a google developer and i did not make your google applications so i can't fix that if i wanted to. Use another set of Gapps and see if that helps.

If you want max battery life you set the governor to abyssplug and cpuquiet to balanced.

The thing with abyssplug is that it doesn't allow wakelocks so it's not uncommon to be at 95-100% after many hours in your pocket, but when you use your phone it'll fly.

The whole point of this ROM is to provide performance outside of what you'll find in any other ROM.

Hi Mourta, thanks for your kernel.

I'm using CM11 official, and I'm having some problems with abyssplug, whenever I set it in trickstermod my phone will restart. It only works if I set cpuquiet to userspace but it leads to another problem, it will use all the four cores all the time. For now I'll stick with wheatley, but, what could be the cause of this anomally?

Wrong thread.

But why are you using trickstermod to set the governor? Use the built in performance settings and it will work fine.

You can then set cpuquiet to whatever you want in trickstermod.

The problem you're experience is ROM related, i fixed it with liquidsmooth which is the ROM this thread is about.

I honestly have no idea why anyone would use CM official, it's less stable than CM unofficial and it's a lot slower.

Use a proper ROM and you won't run into these types of problems.

Trickstermod was a recomendation of Iodak, plus it lets me change the GPU frecuency easily.

CM is the one that lets me use both cameras without trouble.

Now I've tried kernel tweaker and it didn't give me the problems mentioned before.

Anyway I'll try your ROM as soon as I grab a WiFi conenction, it should be a keeper.

BTW your kernel is as good as expected :)

Great .. applied the settings and will check and feedback ..

regarding the gapps, I am using the ones on official CM site .. can anyone direct me to any better ? :(

thanks ..

EDIT:

I found PA Gapps, and am going to try them ..

Note: regarding the keyboard, the ROM itself includes a LatinIME.apk that;s the problem .. I replaced it with a working one I had earlier and it's now working fine ..

will check the search bar after the new gapps and report back .. :)

just tried the new GAPPs, nothing different ..

I then use Google Now Launcher, and it worked fine .. so I understand now that the problem is in the Liquid Launcher .. :(

I´m testing this new combination (was on Vanir 4.3.1. stable) with Kernel and Rom. Looking good so far, many thanks for your work!!!

May be 1 dumb questions (sorry for it, if I could found it myself):

- In other Roms, there were developer options, where I can set "force GPU-Rendering" (which I use for Apps like Titanium Backup, File Manager, they scroll much smoother with this otion set). Is this option present in this Rom and where can I set thinks like this (adb support, USB-Debugging and many more developer options)?

What can i say. Really smooth and so fast. Rom + kernel. Lots of settings. I have 1 problem, i cant find setting to change all font size. I had it in CM, in screen setting. Thank you for your exellent rom.

Edit: i have no notifications, at all. Strange, i enabled it.

@Mourta I have a question: I use multirom, and my first ROM is Beanstalk; now, I want to permanently install your LiquidSmooth (not as primary simply because I won't erase Beanstalk, reinstall it and replacing all my customizations, it would be too long, so I thought about installing it as secondary and switch between the two roms). Considering that multirom doesn't allow an anykernel patched kernel to be installed on secondary roms, is it safe to flash your kernel on Beanstalk, then make a backup of boot img and replace it on your LiquidSmooth after having installed it as secondary? I ask you about this only to know if this procedure could cause problems or bugs, according to your opinion. Thanks! :)

Thanks for this ROM ... installed it yesterday and it is really smooth...

but I have the problem that no abyssplug, no intelliactive and no wheatley are showen in kernel tweaker

trickstermod shows this governor`s - but if I want to set abyssplug there I get a reboot (sometimes a blackscreen). intelliactive and wheatley are working in trickstermod

As previously said, try to set governors using the rom's built in performance tool :)

ART is problematic anyway. It always caused freeze issues etc. in official CM11 and never had good performance with it on other ROMs.

Use dalvik, don't let any shitty services run in the background and your battery life will be just fine
