Hello, I am going to post an unrelated topic to anything but this phone itself.

When I first saw this forum back in 2012, I realized that there may be some hope for my device to become a super-fast jig-a-ma-ding, to outperform some of the higher priced and specced devices that were, well let's be honest, abundant in every corner of the globe.

So, flashing custom roms, literally tens of them, tens of thousands of time, I couldn't get enough. The thrill of trying something new every time was far too great to miss.

And so, the device aged up pretty fast, being the entry-level device since it first came out, it wasn't too long until it's hardware was a prehistoric piece. But even then, there were still people working on it, making it better, optimizing it in every way, pushing OTA's for their custom ROMs, and now, looking at this forum, I can see that everyone gave up on our beloved Crescent.

It doesn't take a genius to deduce that I love this device, and yes, maybe this is subjective, irrational thinking, to work on something that has its place on a scrap yard. I'm not a developer, so this is my way of boring some of the developers to port yet another custom ROM, to work on yet another project, to try and push out the most and the best of what the device can offer.

Sorry for boring you, I hope that I didn't offend anyone in the process of writing this post, don't mind my jibber jabber if that's the case.

That's completly right

When this phone came out, it was already "old" inside. ZTE made a device with outdated components (Arm v7 was out 2 years before but they just used an arm v6 because it was cheaper).

I love the crescent too but let's face the reality : the devs don't have any interest for this device anymore because it's simply doesn't worth it. ZTE didn't updated it to Android 4 because they knew themselves it was useless.

Android 5 is out, do you really want to stay on 2.3 ? The gap between Android 2 and 4 is bigger than 4 and 5, so maybe it's time for you to buy a new phone like the Moto G : it's running Kitkat, will be updated to Lollipop and only cost 150€ on Amazon

I jumped to a Galaxy S4 because I knew that there would be no updates anymore

Our phones aren't made to last forever so change it if you can, like we all did. :)

I'm reading this post with some sadness. Late to the party but not really ready to hang up the trust Crescent!! I have Z right now so the Crescent is really my guinea pig phone. I've tried various things and I'm currently running gbosh's Molten Motherboard. I put Link2sd on there but the benefits were minimal, running out of space after just a few apps installed.

Anyway, I'm back for more now and I'd like to know from both of you (or anyone) what is your preference for increasing storage space for this device? I recently heard of int2ext so I might try that but before I semi brick my phone (again)  what do you think the best set up is for: partition, mount scripts, hacks for more smoothness, and any other newbie advice? Very much appreciated guys.  :)

Hey guys.
Just checking in to say I might try to build lollipop for the crescent if androidarmv6 gets along well and I find the time to do it.
Also I have a port of H3Holo from skate I did some time ago,but I don't think I ever posted it.Gonna drop it off tomorrow or when I get time.
I also might have some other stuff, gotta look through my files and see.

To awnser your question, Score
Int2Ext massively increases your storage capabilities and I never experienced problems with it in the year or so I used it.

Regarding what the best setup for this phone is.
Whatever works for you,but in my experience GB ROMs used to be the best and almost flawless but over the last months or so they kept causing problems due to being very outdated.
So I'd say use some ICS ROM (CM9 or AOSP) or JB 4.1 (paranoid)
Or maybe even kk but with every new version everything gets hackier and I never finished some stuff in kk,nothing that really matters but still ICS just seems to perform best.
I've had to use Int2ext in all ROMs I've used in order to fit the apps I needed except for h3holo ROM,somehow it's better at managing storage.

Since you're running MoltenMotherboard, too,Score, does your device refuse to wake up from sleep sometimes?I've noticed mine doing this lately and can't really debug or fix it at this time, nor do I care enough if it's just on my phone.
Anyways I want to thank all of you for being the nice community you are and keeping this little device alive.

God,this post is such a clusterfuck,whatever :D
Sent from my Lg G2 :)

Thanks Gbosh, a bit late on the reply sorry. Yeah so far MoltenMotherboard is the best Rom I have used (thanks again). I don't have the problem of refusing to wake from sleep, but I do get random black screens that need a battery pull now and then, that occurs mid-activity.
There's a problem with any video app too, I get a reset about 20mins in of video. Always thought it was memory related....

As for Int2ext, I am getting more and more intrigued! Do you have any links for that or tips from your own experience? I read that you can't run it alongside link2sd which makes sense but I don't know how to swap over.
