HTC's first wearable is finally here and contrary to most expecations, it's not a watch - it's a GPS enabled fitness band designed for UA Record.

In line with recent HTC strategy, Grip embodies HTC famous design with cross platform (Android / iOS) capabilities for accurate tracking across a range of sports and activities with an embeeded GPS chipset and Bluetooth connectivity for accessories such as heart-rate monitors. Grip sends performance data to the Under Armour Connected Fitness platform.

Grip is designed for extreme training regimes with a contoured, waterproof band, avialable in 3 sizes, which conforms to your wrist. A curved PMOLED display (which isn't always on) makes it easy to read time and distance on the move.

The band can track and record a variety of workouts (from running and cycling to time spent at the gym) and is waterproof (IP57 rated), making it perfect for tracking every step, from the gym to the shower and beyond (but you can't use it for swimming). The 100mAh battery lasts up to five hours when using GPS to accurately capture route, distance, pace and calories burned, all of which sync with UA Record in real time. For everyday usage, Grip lasts up to 2.5 days on a single charge, ideal for tracking daily activity. Both deep and light sleep tracking are included, with a view to helping you develop sleep patterns to unlock peak fitness and performance.

When connected to an Android or iOS smartphone, the 1.8" 32 x 160 PMOLED screen allows the wearer to see incoming call and message notifications and remotely control music playback.

The HTC Grip will be available in Deep Teal/Lime at select retailers in North America only from Spring 2015.
