This is exactly the headset I was considering, just thought it was a wee bit pricey, but looks ever so cool. 8)

Awaiting your further impressions.

Cheers, Vince

P.S. Where did you buy from, did you get a good price?

Basically the kit comes with a headset and a adaptor.

The adaptor plugs into the phone in the headphones jack. onces thats dont the adaptor transmitts to the headset any sounds sent to it by the phone.

This means that u could even watch a film on the phone and listen to it from the bluetooth headset. Same with Music.

I tried this yesterday and the sound quality is quite good.

Im basing this opinion in comparison with the Erriccson headsets which i have used and are very good quality too.

  • 2 months later...

Anyone else use this? Would you recommend it for the money?

Looks like there is a specific SPV model now (I didn't see this exact model number in the previous posts)...

The following is from http://www.jabra.com/products/results.cfm (under cellular phones --> Orange)

ORANGE SPV Smartphone FreeSpeak for Microsoft-Powered Pocket PC Phones & Smartphones (FSSPVPocketPC302) Runs on Microsoft's Smartphone OS. Made by HTC. $179.00

hi there,

thanks for sharing this info. its nice to see that there's a workaround for the missed bluetooth but at the end of the day this shows that voicedial is missed even more then since the use of the headset is then only half as good as it could be...

cheers, lutz

Just quizzed the seller a little. He wants $28 for postage to the UK (which seems a little high) but he does mark down the value and tick gift to help get it through customs which is good!

That makes it $143 or at today's exchange rate £89.50 if you don't get stung by Mr Customs.

I thought that was a very good price, until I started shopping around.

It appears to be £88.13 at Expansys!

http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=BT200-NB

Tempting....

Okay, I wouldn't normally reply to my own post.

But I kept on searching, and I think you'll like what I've found!

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/1544.htm

£69.95 + £2.50 for first class shipping!

;)

Mine is now ordered. They must have dropped in price a lot recently as first time I looked at this a few months ago it was well over a hundred quid!

The site shows you a picture of what the phone end looks like. Not great, but seeing as it will be in my bag most of the time not too bad.

I'm sure I'll use this to listen to music at the gym more than for speaking on!

Cheers

Marc

So is posting to yourself like talking to yourself? A sign of maddness??

I really should learn to read before typing in my credit card details.

There appear to be a few different versions of this headset as mentioned in one of the above posts. I believe I have been lulled into a false sense of security by the wording on the page 'ANY PHONE WITH 2.5mm Jack" which the spv of course has.

Look at page 2 of this pdf:

http://www.jabra.com/products/Datasheets/F...akDatasheet.pdf

It describes three versions:

1:

Headset and Adapter for Most

Non-Bluetooth Phones*

100-91030000-02

• JABRA FreeSpeak headset

• Multi-adapter with 2.5mm,

3-conductor audio plug

2:

Headset and Adapter for Non-Bluetooth

Microsoft-Powered Pocket PC Phones

and Smartphones*

100-91130000-02

• JABRA FreeSpeak headset

• Multi-adapter with modified 2.5mm,

4-conductor audio plug

3:

Headset and Adapter for Most

Non-Bluetooth Nokia Phones*

100-91430000-02

• JABRA FreeSpeak headset

• Multi-adapter with 2.5mm,

4-conductor audio plug

No idea which one I've bought, 1 or 3 probably.

The above suggests we need 2.

However the jack plug on the supplied SPV headphones is a 3 conductor audio plug, and 2 says it is a 4 conductor one!

:?

Now I'm confused. Going mad even!

Anyway, I'll give it a go and report back. I have a good case should I need to send it back!

Yea, I called Jabra before I ordered to confirm and they gave me the 2nd model you have listed...

I still don't understand as I'm sure the phone uses a 3 conductor plug!

Anyway the only difference appears to be the connecting lead. If all else fails I'll be sweet talking Jabra UK into switch it for me...

Obviously a refund will be possible, but at this proce I'd rather get a working version!

Cheers

Nope, look at the headphones that came with your phone, the connector has 4 conductors, (1 earth, 1 mic, 1 left earpiece, 1 right earpiece), the SPV has stereo audio 8) whereas most ordinary mobiles only have mono .

Hope this helps.

We've read about it but I've not been able to find a picture of it. Finally managed to find one plugged into an SPV and here it is.

I'll be giving the aforementioned companies a ring today to find out exactly what model/connector type we need.

It came from a review by Guy Kewney. You can read the full article here:

http://www.kewney.com/articles/021022-jabra.html

Its this statement that interests me :

It plugs into the audio-out socket of the phone, with a cable; and then phone and cable vanish into an inside pocket, and you can listen (mono) to the audio output

Two things:

1) Vanish into an inside pocket - hmmmmmm not sure about that ;)

2) Can listen MONO to the audio output - hhhmmm need to check this out as I can't understand why you would have to go from Stereo output down to MONO :?

The article was dated the 22/10/02 and I'm hoping that a few modifications have been done to it since then. Fingers crossed

Well there is only one ear piece, so it can't be stereo!
