I chose A310 (77chedu's first mod - not his latest - see "Edit 4" here: http://www.modaco.com/topic/374249-rom-442-aosp-nitro-a310-v3-repack/) because it works well for me with no obvious issues so far.

But I haven't compared it to many of the other ROMs out there.

I really just want a good/stable/clean AOSP and this ticks those boxes.

I would like to try Maucat's AOSP and maybe xtremevanilla when I get a chance.

Note that it's not totally clear in all cases what ROM you are referring to - e.g. you sau "maucat" but as far as I know he has more than one ROM type and version.

When you say "type" I suspect you mean, sau, CoolUI v AOSP v MIUI v EMUI etc. because each of those types has multiple versions and mods etc.

Also polls such as this are not necessarily representative and often become irrelevant over time as new/better/updated ROMs come out and people don't update their vote (sometimes because they can't because the new ROM is not listed).

Ultimately I'm not really sure how useful polls such as this are and they may even mislead or confuse some people.

I don't think that anybody can say that there is a specific ROM (type or instance) that is "best" as people's needs and preferences vary so much.

Some people (like me) like a boring, clean, light, stable AOSP. Some like lots of eye candy, theming, configurability etc. Some want a gamer ROM etc.

In short ... caveat emptor.

seems a bit confused as a poll, I'll post my considerations but I won't thick any box because as dalyer said usermau has many roms  :)
I'd go fo maucat's latest AOSP for now, with A310 as a close second.
As for the manufactorer's ones, if I didn't have lag in whatsapp notifications with it Emui would had easily won, Hive UI is on the ugly side, but fully functional.

I flash almost every rom that comes out, so my favorites are: maucat AOSP > mickvip MIUI > VIBEui > EMUI

Yes I know that the "Type" is not really exact because of the different rom on it (sorry for my english ... I'm french ! :-))

But if we propose all the custom roms, we'll have more than 100 ! 

My preffered roms : EMUI V3 262 > Nitro A310 V3 Repack > MickVip MIUI V6

OK - but if you meant type then it should be something like (maybe even qualified by version number?)

• BaiduOS
• ColorOS
• etc.

 

Maybe even qualified by version number.

 

Otherwise it's a mix of ROM types and specific versions/mods/implementations.

I don't know if this sort of thread/poll makes much sense now. Given the amount of roms, that still pop out like crazy for a year plus old phone

 

I think it makes sense for the first batch of roms, when people are still buying the phone, rooting, having their share of "rom-hopping". 

 

Maybe it'd make sense at the end of this year, when we'll have a number of Lollipop roms available. But now, I don't know

 

I flash almost everything like razorinc -except MIUIs- and I think there're more than a handful of worthy roms for different type of users. 

 

If I were to tick on one box, I'd go with maucat's aosp, because it's the sort of rom that I like, but currently my daily rom -between flashing and testing roms and my own betas- is an iNEW mod

 

I agree with Slime on HiveUI. For me it's ugly too, but once you got rid of the launcher, you got yourself a themable settings -light or dark really, hadn't found anything worthy in between, XD- aosp-like rom
