From time to time I would need to use a Vodafone SIM (when on call for work) in the SPV.

Has anyone successfully managed to get Orange to unlock their SPV yet?  How much did it cost?  (I assume its around 35 quid + the rest of your contract up front?)

In Denmark we hve to pay app. 200 € for locking the phone up..... and the price for the phone her is app. 500 €.

I think you can buy the phone for 700 euros unlocked in Denmark, but in the UK it is only available locked to Orange.

I have heard rumours that a mastercode generator for the SPV exists and will be available soon, but currently this IS just rumour.

Orange's unlocking policy is £20 fee plus remaining line rental paid in full. It used to be £35 but went down quite some time ago. Currently this is the only way of unlocking the SPV.

hey thanx a lot for your help guys...

can i just verify something here... so the phone has a physical ability to be unlocked right? meaning there are number of ways to do it such as get it done by orange, or get the mastercode, either way it will be possible right>?? i am asking because i want to buy it, but i won't be using it at this point, so it does not really make it urgent, however i would have to confident that i will be able to get it done at some point in time and that it will not cost me a huge amount (orange option is out of the question for me, i won't have any contract with them and i am not even in europe) as for the purchase of the unlocked one from denmark, i think 700 bucks is a little harsh, while i have the ability to get a locked one for 500 here in us. so the only option left for me is getting it unlocked via a mastercode, so do you thing this will be availible soon? or not? thanx for all the help. and it all comes down to: i desperately want this gadget, but i am not buyng unless i know that i will be able to use it later.. and not at an expense of like 300 bucks... thanx again

Yep, it can definitely be done.

When I put a non-Orange SIM in my SPV, it prompts me for the unlock code.

I don't know it, but it obviously can be done!

If you do this are you then able to use the remaining months of your tarrif.

Will I still get my free mins per month for the rest of the 12 months

so are there any news on the unlocking solutions for us american people? i have ordered my (locked   ) spv, and who knows when i will be able to use it.... at least i'll have it

Does anyone know where I can buy an unlocked SPV and have it shipped to Canada ?  Are there any online strores that sell it ?

as for me, i bought mine here in us, for 509 bucks, shipped, it has not arrived (most likely next week) because of the holidays. it is locked though. so i am working on that now, i got to get this baby unlocked otherwise it is just a paperweight for 500 bucks... anyway, these are the only options that i could find, and i have been searching for a month now... so i am quite confindent there is no better way than these two... hope it helps...

Ebay is selling them for over a $1000!!! Unlocked that is, If anyone wants one, I might sell mine and i might just get another one on a new contract. But itll cost ya

yeah, i think he is trustworthy, i emailed him, he sounds like a really nice guy and responds really fast, the problem is the prices... on ebay, the prices are so high cuz some 0 feedback mo's jack up the price intentionally, so i would not recommend bidding... anyway, my phone is on its way, and i just hope that it will come from denmark unlocked, otherwise i am desperate for keygen or some other way to get it done...
