OK Guys and Gals, Attached to this you will find a straight port of the Waba VM. It's not pretty and will need lots of work but it's a start. (Before you ask no it's not signed  )

Drop the smartphone.exe into ipsmprogram fileswaba along with the waba.wrp file.

If you want a demo app to run also drop the PocketWatch.wrp file into the same directory. You can then place the PocketWatch.lnk file into something like ipsmwindowsstart menugames to run the demo app.

For more info on waba check out www.wabasoft.com

Have fun

Nice stuff... worked fine for me. Just a question, and I presume it's cos you haven't implemented it yet. But I seemed to have no controls when I ran this. Ie, I couldn't get back to homescreen, quit or whatever.

So, that's just a word of warning to people looking at this, it's definitely for looking only at the moment.

A hint on how to get out of it (without pulling the battery off), ring yourself, and answer the phone. When the call is over you'll be back in control of the phone, then use task manager to kill the Pocket Watch application :)

Yep, you're right no real control of the application  You can get back to the home screen but the application is running so if you want to kill it you can either do what you did or just power off and power on again.

Once tidied up then it would be interesting to marry it with something like GAPIDraw and then get the whole shebang signed  - hmm wonder how good the games would be.... :?

The nice thing about waba is it is lightweight, Java based and you can use the Java desktop SDK to develop and test applications.

Way to go, Pocketfun! I know of several companies currently working to get their JVM onto the platform, and you beat 'em to it!

Edit : Tried it, works fine!

 Actually the waba kit you can download from www.wabasoft.com already works on Pocket PC so this is not a big deal.

You should all bear in mind that waba is not a full implementation of Java nor is it a J2ME implementation, but it is a good starting point.

Like I said it really needs some tidying up before it is really usuable but this will happen

Way COOL !!! I was just about to start a port of it and here it is :)

When do you plan to make the source available, or did you use the straight Pocket PC VM and simply compile it for Smartphone ?
