Introducing Callface, a simple smartphone picture dialer.

** Does not require phone to be Decertified **

What is it

It is a very basic html file which takes advantage of the feature implemented in the smartphone to dial hyperlinks.

I’m a bit weary about posting under Software :? but hey, it works like an App

What does it do

Select an image of a friend on the callface screen.

Press the action button on your smartphone.

Dial his/her/its tel number :)

How to use

Install the cab, press the ‘Programs’ key, scroll down to ‘Callface’ hit action.

It’s totally customizable, very easy to edit, even for those who have no experience with HTML, change background image to suit your current homescreen theme, without the need of any registry tweaks :(

Full instructions and help file included in the install, very small 42kb inc sample images etc, installs to your memory card so you can have thousands of callfaces if you want

Hope you like it.

Celsol

PS. Big shout out to Richie M for all his help and advice :D

Now how cool would it be to create a small webserver on ur smartphone, so u could use ASP or something to interact with your contact DB and organise them as u like, with pictures and everything.

well just a thought :)

when all else fails read the instructions

If you have installed callface, there is a 'help.htm' file in the dir on the storage card with some indications on how to edit.

If it does not help' I'll post any easy step-by-step here

let me know

tomorrow i'm gonna have a go at something myself, i'll integrate the first bit into callface.

Should hopefully be a sort of web page for you to go and fill in a form and it will create the page for you. Then when i've figured out what i'm gonna do with the new bits i've found out i'll create something myself.

Okay a quick step by step:

Editing

1. Activesync to phone.

2. Explore Storage Cardcallface.

3. Copy 'callface.htm' to somewhere on your PC.

4. Open Word or Wordpad (not Notepad or it'll look a mess) on your PC

5. Select 'Files of type' to 'All Documents (*.*)'

File > open

find the 'callface.htm' you just copied and open it

You should now be looking at the source.

7. Look at all the bits between

8. Enter your own contacts tel no's and images where shown

Images

You will need to create/edit resize some images

For 9 faces to display on a callface sceen, images should be 57 x 57 pixels

You can also have 16 images (shown below)

For 16 faces, images should be 43x43 pixels

Once you are done editing copy back all the files back to Storage Cardcallface directory.

Hope this helps

Gradiation -

Great idea!

I don't have webspace - but I do know a place where you can get a free website - www.bizhosting.com - which would allow you to create a site where you could host it yourself?

Cheers mate, but i think the free one is just a 60 day trial. I do have webspace but didn't wanna trash the bandwidth, but will do it for now, and if it doesn't go mental i'll leave it there.

Will post up tomorrow what i get done.
