1 month warranty

share ko lang sa inyo...

i brought my tanager to smart wireless center in podium because my left soft key is already defective and it's harder to press. looks like something is broken inside. nakalubog na eh. but before this, i asked the girl in the addict mobile booth if defective keypad is included in the 1 month warranty. she said yes and they will replace the whole unit.

so hoping that what she said is true, i showed it to their customer service. after showing it to their technical guy, their manager said that they will only replace the keypad. i said no. it's within the 1-month warranty. they shld replace the whole unit. that is what their sales staff said.

in my mind, ok lang if they'll just replace the keypad but i was hoping they'll replace the whole unit just like what orange did with one of their subscribers.

i asked them what if LCD was the one defective, will they just replace the LCD even if it's within 1 month? they said it's a case-to-case basis. it's not clear what's really included in the 1-month warranty. naawa na lang ako sa mga nakapila so i ended up agreeing with them.

im now using 8210. :-(

they should replace the whole phone. that's what the CSR told me in SM Megamall when I complained of the chipped silver coating of the call buttons -- "Sir, sana dinala niyo dito bago mag 1 month para replace namin buong unit."

Well, lucky for them the paint chipped off after 1 month.

also, my GF's SAP had 1 dead pixel. They replaced the unit on the spot at SMART Tower Ayala.

im totally disappointed. :oops: :oops: :oops:

ok na nga sa akin na palitan na lang nila yung keypad but when i went to smart WC, i was asked to pay for it. 450 daw. wala daw kasi sa warranty ang accessories. huh??? im supposed to have a replacement for the whole unit tapos ngayon ako pa ang magSPAMyad. :x

sa inis ko, i asked them to pull-out my unit from brightpoint and return it back to me. i'll just try to bring it to other WC and ask for a replacement. the CSR told me to write a formal letter and they'll forward it to their main office.

do you think i did the right thing? do you think they shld replace my unit considering that its problem is just a broken keypad? it's still within 1 month when i reported the problem to them.

can you tell me saang Smart WC yun?

@randy,

450??? sabi sa akin 390 lang daw a! hmm...

Orange has extended warranty kasi. It's like insurance. You pay a certain amount and for a specified amount of time, they'll replace your unit if you damage it "accidentally".

@dino,

good idea! lahat ng may sirang keypad, magkita-kita sa SMART tower. mag picket tayo sa labas nila! :lol:

all my friends who have SAPs have chipping silver keys probem already. this is bad! :D

got my tanager yesterday. i asked them to pull-out my unit from brightpoint if they won't shoulder the cost of the keypad. in short, my keypad is still broken.

they've been telling me that accessories are not covered by warranty but i also keep on telling them that it's not stated in the Limited Warranty Statement and they shld replace the keypad for free. in fact, what i've been asking is a replacement for the whole unit bec. it's within the 1 mo warranty.

what do you think i shld do?

the dust particles getting inside the screen can't be avoided since as far as i know, there is no cellfon service center in manila that has an air cleaner/ionizer that electrostatically traps dust particles.

i suggest you go to SMART tower and ask to speak to a supervisor about it.

i skipped from work yesterday to go to smart ayala. got the same answer from WC. nakipagsigawan pa sa akin yung bastos na CSR. mas matapang pa sa akin. dapat don tinatanggal na sa fronliners eh. i asked him if i could talk to the manager but when he went back di naman niya kasama and we continued to argue about the warranty. i asked him if he could show me an item in the Warranty Statement that says accessories are not covered. wala naman siyang maipakita. i told him that their website clearly states that accessories are covered.

nahiya na lang ako sa mga tao doon so i decided to elevate my problem to the public affairs dept. i told the guy i talked to about it and without asking further questions, he accompanied me to the WC and talked to them and finally decided to have my keypad replaced and shoulder the cost. :lol:

confirmed from brightpoint. the soft keys and call keys are part of the screen.

the keypad is from home/back keys down to * 0 # keys.

@randy,

hmm... what i meant was -- what does the front screen look like?

is it the entire lens plus the frame (which has the SMART logo)?

what happened to the old parts? did they give them back to you?

also, were they able to put the SAP back together again without dust particles inside this time around?

>is it the entire lens plus the frame (which has the SMART logo)?

yes but IR cover and the frame connected to the keypad were not included. baka yon yung kasama sa keypad.

> what happened to the old parts? did they give them back to you?

no. iSPAMlik daw nila sa HTC.

>also, were they able to put the SAP back together again without dust particles inside this time around?

yes.

Hi Randy. It was a good thing na kahit papaano you were able to replace your defective keys.

My problem is that my SAP's left softkey is defective and callkeys silver coating is chipping. My SAP is already 3 months old. Do you think I can ask them to replace without shouldering any cost? :?: I'm planning to visit WC in Sta. Lucia on Sunday.

I think most of SAP users are already experiencing the same problem. I have a friend with the same problem too. Smart or HTC should do something about it. Replacement for out warranties seems expensive. What do you think?

Another thing, have you tried buying an HTC headset? Parang kinuha lang ng SMART sa box natin. Naka plastik lang kasi. :)

they'll just tell you that accessories (keypad, casing, charger, etc.) are not covered with warranty. but i just told them 3 things:

1. it is not stated in the Warranty Statement

2. accessories are covered accdg to their website

3. the quality of the materials used for keypad is poor
