8)  To activate the buttons lock, press approx. 3 seconds on the
       red phone button.  The other way is to push 1 second on the on/off
       button and a menu will apear.  3=lock Buttons  2=lock Phone.

       It work's

No as the first post points out holding down the hang-up key keylocks the phone. Unfortunately it also hangs up the GPRS connection, so if you want to keep IM connected then use the power-menu option.
