Siemens ST55 - Microsoft Smartphone?

Rumours are rife on the German news sites, according to MSMobiles, that Siemens are about to announce a Microsoft Smartphone for German Compatriot T-Mobile.

This story (German) on Xonio.com, posts images of what it implies could be the above mentioned SmartPhone.

Despite such news items, this seems unlikely for 2 main reasons:

- Siemens is a key Symbian licensee, to release a product based on the Microsoft OS would be not impossible, but a definite blow to the Symbian camp.

- The phone pictured in the story above has a standard key configuration, and does not have a 'home' and 'back' key, as required by the SmartPhone 2002 OS.

So, on the face of it, this seems unlikely, but - well, stranger things have happened... :)

hehehe, errr, i seriously doubt it :)

for a start, that would be one wide phone, the chances are its a smaller display than Smartphones (120 x 160 perhaps at a guess, sl55 was 160 x 120)

the logo at the top isnt masked out, its silver, and it says siemens ;)

the home and back buttons masked out? that would make them above the softkeys, which is a bit silly if you ask me.

And, also, surely you'd see the volume and record buttons on the side? a requirement of all SmartPhones

oh, and as for the photoshop manipulation???? nah, its just a bad/low quality jpg thats all

at a guess, this is yer run of the mill symbian siemens phone

Here in Germany i've never heard about a Siemens MS SMartphone. A few weeks ago the Siemens Chairman say things like: "We dont need MS to build Phones."
