well it is possible to change the startup screen now (see Midnight's AI2 homescreen!). Its a metter of changing the reg to point somewhere else rather than the ROM.I know that a cab has been made just for this purpose, watch this space!

or just install mids ai2 then take off the sounds and screen(sorry mid)

then jus add pictures to the ai2 folder in the ispm. make sure you rename them to match though :)

hope this helps for anyone who cant wait. shut down screens wont work on1.3.7.6 (i think thats the number)

cheers! no-ones succeeded in what I originally wanted though - customising the sunset screen - so this topic's not closed! it may be impossible, but some hacker somewhere might one day succeed... :)

The sunset screen is in teh Windows directory, which is re-written from the CE ROM on each boot (or something similar).

So you'd have to create a custom ROM to edit it... :)

Could you copy most of the ROM and change that part, or is ROM fiddling strictly for the professionals?

edit: come to think of it, is ROM fiddling an offence? :)

Legalities are difficult...

I believe creating your own would require decompiling or hex editing the current ROM. Technical to the extreme, dudes :)

if you upgrade to the new Rom version of Qtek, you will have a cool blue "Qtek 7070 Smartphone" startup screen :o

well, as of now thats the only easiest way to get rid of your Orange Sunset :)

how about using this way but I'm not sure whether it can work with you guyzz or not using registry Editor

Pictures can have any noun, but it has to match with the registry (of course...).

These are the registry keys to create:

- HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftSplash Screen (create it)

- CarrierBitmap : IPSMBootimage1.gif (Image GIF 176x220 256 colors - String Type)

- CarrierShutdownBitmap : IPSMBootimage2.gif (Image GIF 176x220 256 colors - String Type)

- MSBitmap : IPSMBootimage2.gif (Image GIF 176x220 256 colors - String Type)

- MSShutdownBitmap : IPSMBootimage4.gif (Image GIF 176x220 256 colors - String Type)

- CarrierShutdownTimeout : 2000 (DWord Type)

- MSShutdownTimeout : 15000 (DWord Type)

Put your images in the IPSM directory if you don't want them to disappear...
