Gears at Coolsmartphone.com is reporting approximate release dates for the SPV E200, and the Motorola MPx200.

We've received information about the release dates for the Orange SPV E200 and the Motorola MPx200. These are expected delivery dates, so whilst they can't be judged as 100% accurate, they're a good indicator.

Orange SPV E200 - Expected 13th/14th October

Motorola MPx200 - Expected 21st October

I don't have confirmation from Orange yet on these.

I've had an email from Naz at SmartPhones.org.uk (Naz runs the coolsmartphoneshop.com too) about some excellent SIM-free packages on these handsets.

Visit Coolsmartphone for the story, and smartphones.org.uk for details of how to buy these handsets sim free.

I walked into Phones4U and they said that the Motorola MPX200 will be released on the Oct 14th , and they had a sample phone on the New Releases/Preorder section of the store.

So maybe it's the Motorola Phone thats being released first?

oh man, I duno what to do get the Motorola next week or wait for the e200 :|

Guys and gals, new here so hi to you all. I have some inside info given to me this morning that the release day is next Friday - 17th October 2003. No definate price has been given to us but I recieved my training on the handset today. Not a lot quicker than it's predecessor but the updated O/S means that Microsoft Mobile Connect software such as Outlook and Messenger run very smoothly. The built in camera is substantially better quality. Once again the battery life is however useless.

Regards

hey cypher....so u have tested it....did u happen to check the bluetooth...?do u mean to say that with the new operating system inside and no change in memory has probably made it now slower then before and more power consuming?

Yes the SPV E200's Bluetooth is great for data, very quick. When is comes to headsets the Jabra is the ideal choice and The Link are offering it for £49.99 at the mo if you don't already have one. We tried out a few bluetooth carkits and they work quite well. We managed to get 20m out of it.

As for power consumption, it's nothing special but surprisingly the bluetooth does not drain it as quickly as we thought it was going to. All I can say with regards to memory is it's expandable. So I have been told from our staff traininers anyway.

its internal ram/rom that matters regarding speed/stability etc., not expandable sd/mmc ram, which is only used for storage, and maybe the 2003 os only runs well with 32mb?

Strange....

I went into an Orange shop yesterday (Bull Ring, Brum) and they've been told that it definitely won't be available until after Christmas. I hope they're talking out of their ar*e, I want one now

hell no m8 ! I cant wait for this phone ! Was in the O shop yesterday and the guy slightly confused me by saying there were 15 different handsets getting released in the very near future, (Treo being one of them.) He took my details and said he's call when they have delivery. The good thing bout living in Scotland is that nobody knows what the hell a smartphone looks like or actually is, so i should expect to have one right away lol !! Week commencing 2/11 sounds about right to me guys :)

As I haven't been into MoDaCo for a few days now, I went into an Orange shop to ask them about the E200. They looked at a printout and confidently said 2nd November, confirming what goinnuts said.

Personally, I am still not sure if it offers enough over the original SPV to convince me to part with £170 (probably £200 as an upgrade). I may wait until someone brings out one with a faster processor.

But for those of you convinced enough to upgrade, looks like it will be next weekend.
