MIO Mitac travel charger doesn't work

Does anyone else have the MIO travel charger (bought from www.data-nation.com)?

The MIO seems to be charging (ie. the red charging light is lit and the power icon is active) however, the battery is not being charged.

The standard charger/USB works fine, only the travel charger. Does anyone have this working?

I've the car charger and got the same problem.

The red light is on and the phone is working but the battery isn't charging :?

Thanks. So how can we resolve this? These products aren't working as promised. I wonder if this is a hardware or software problem.

I did respond to Mike of Data-Nation ([email protected]) regarding this issue, that I also noticed with my Mitac flip charger (made by Data-Nation, that had the same symptoms noted in this thread) and received the following reply:

Thank you for the detailed description of the problem.  We are having

our engineers take a closer look at the output voltage and current from

the flip charger with respect to the requirements of the Mitac phone.

In the meantime I hesitate to replace the flip charger with another since

it may not function any better than the one you have if it turns out to be

a short fall with the voltage or current output.

You are the second person who has reported the flip charger not

working properly with the phone and we replaced the first one as

a suspected failure but now we must look at it more closely.

Please return the charger for a full refund via first class mail.  If you

wish to purchase another charger may I suggest the Travel Charger

instead.  We have not had any reports of problems with it to date.

Regards,

Mike

So, I returned my flip charger for a full refund.

I have to say, though, that I'm less likely to follow Mike's advice and purchase a travel charger, given what I've read here.... ;)

I reordered a travel flip charger from Data-Nation...after returning my defective version.

It works like a champ with no problems.

Data-nation was great to deal with and were very speedy with swapping out my charger.

alternative Solution!!

Mio 338 (PocketPC) shares the same USB sync/charge cable

If you happens to be able find/buy one of those cable, it sync and charge at the same time.

At least, I bought one in Hong Kong for HK$78 (on sale) ~ US$10.
