The real reason of Orange SPV E200 delay exposed

November 17, 2003 [smartphone]Everybody expected that Orange SPV E200 will start selling today. It didn't happen. Why? Orange is withholding release of Orange SPV E200 smartphone and the release of software update version 1.6 for Orange SPV E100 because Microsoft hasn't sent to Orange the MSN messenger patch yet.

On October 15, 2003 Microsoft changed protocol used by MSN messenger service and while MSN messenger updates and patches for PC and Pocket PC are already available, the big majority of Microsoft smartphone users still is blocked from access to this service and Microsoft claims that it is up to operators to release this patch. Since having MSN messenger embedded in Microsoft smartphone is one of the main selling points of Microsoft smartphone, releasing Orange SPV E200 phone without MSN messenger on board could truly be problematic.

The big waiting for Orange SPV E200 continues...

Hmm...

Thoughts anyone?

the thing is, there may be 'some' truth in it, both the e200 and the 1.6 update 'may' have been delayed through the msn thing, but Orange certainly have that patch now, and have had it a couple of weeks at least

Just called Orange for the 3rd time today.

IT IS AVAILABLEN NOW - THERE IS NO DELAY - PERIOD.

Online upgrades won't have it for a few days. Stocks were shipped to stores today and you will be able to by from a store when the shipment arrives (some stores from tomorrow - Tues).

You SHOULD be able to upgrade in store.

E200 - £239

i wish not to cause any arguments but i work for O retail and those are not the prices we have had instore on our price matrix for last week. Although we will get a new pricing list tues night.

Secondly i am desperately awaiting the handset myself as it is the phone i have chosen as my free phone (i get to choose a new phone every three months)

I dont think we will receive them tomorrow although i desperately hope you are right  as we always receive a fax informing us what stock we are getting for the following day and its not on the list. I work in one of oranges top 10 stores so we always get stock priority.

The only other thing that doesnt ring true about what 150 are saying is the fact that you can only have the handset on new connection and not upgrade.

I question this as we get one set of phones for new connections and upgrades and then PAYG handsets that havent got allocated numbers.

Therefore if they can do new connections they can do upgrades.

ahhhhhh I WANT MY PHONE !!!

Im as impatient as you guys.

best peeps to get info from on dates is 0800 801080 as 150 dont always have this sort of information at there hands

Ill let you guys know when we get ours in stock

Just to make it clear for those of you who enquire about pricing

upgrade pricing is now the same as new connection pricing. there are three pricing brackets

under 24.99 line rental

25.00 - 49.99 line rental

and over 50.00 line rental

if i remember correctly it was

199.99

169.99

99.99

hope thats of use to you guys

When I called 150 FOUR times yesterday they all told me exactly the same thing. They read me exactly the same launch statement. Word for word.

You can buy it now for 239.99

4 times they contacted upgrades and were told it is not on upgrades yet.

Maybe you should give them a call to confirm what I am saying.

I have no reason to make things up. I would upgrade now if I could.

It only take two minutes of your time to dial 150 option 6 then 2 and simply ask "has the e200 been released, how much is it and can I upgrade"

Then post your findings here.

just phoned upgrades, and its all ORDERED, delivery due this Friday.

Phone cost as I am on £30/mth is £149,

unfortunately, as my contract only began in May I had to pay an additional £100 and sign up for another year - but atleast I am getting this wicked new phone, plus get to keep the old SPV. Nice one.

Just called upgrades 5.30pm UK. It is available on upgrade NOW. I was told on my £40 PM tariff I can have the phone for £99. It IS in stock. It would be shipped tomorrow and I would get it on Thursday.

I have also called half a dozen Orange shops and 3 of them said it is on their fax delivery list for tomorrow Wednesday. So I will buy from a shop directly.

So hopefully, by this time tomorrow I will have my mits on a lovely new E200.
