Erm yes.. I have an MPX200 on Orange. Erm.. you pretty much answered your own question. Yes its running the Motorola retail build of Smartphone 2002. This s a highly tweaked version of the software found in previous phones such as the SPV

Hmmm, I was after knowing the ROM version... after all it has functioning Messenger?

Because if we aren't going to see an update anytime soon, could some smart bod extract the ROM image as a substitute?

just in process of 7 day replacement trial thanks to orange actaully dealing with my complaint at last.

Have been sent replacement early upgrade in swap for my crap E100. The moto actually flies through the menus and everything works and I mean works.

there is near perfect stability with "zero" buffering when playing back windows media files within wmp.

MSN works perfectly fine everytime.

Stability of the overall OS is fantastic and hasnt crashed at all yet and I have seriously put it through its paces.

If anyone is interested........this phone plays the nintendo emu with remarkable smoothness unlikr the spv.

If anyone gets the chance then I would highly recomend the moto Mx200.

It may not have a camera which bothered me at first until I got to try the phone out and I can tell you I was sold.....it ROCKS........

In speed and stability in comparison to the E100 this phone WILL totally blow you away.........

That really is great news nixy...

I am on a classic SPV, and have probably got used to so much I shouldn't have to if you know what I mean...

A smooth OS and being able to listen to WMA and MP3 without any problems will be great, I have recently been going without music as the SPV tends to annoy me especially when playing files that are over 30 minutes long, second half just skips and jumps. MPx200 here I come! Glad mine is arriving on monday!

Thanks nixy - that was the news I needed! My SPV is in near-perfect condition, unlocked and de-certified so will be able to make the upgrade fee back on ebay.

nice!

The True life adventures of an oversized moto convert.

AKA: Nixys motorola diarys

Day 2

(LOL)

On test....my mx200 has been on ALL night and WITH the light switched to constantly ON!!! and I can say in totaly seriousness that my moto is on FULL battery...STILL OH YEAHHHH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(.......takes a much needed breath)

CALL QUALITY/SPEAKERPHONE

has got to be heard to be believed. I tried out the MPx200 speaker phone this morning (hold down green call button aftere dialing) and it sounds so clear and audiable. Its really quite comfortable to use it like this as I placed it on the floor as a test and my better half heard me just as if I was holding it normally.

Normal phone call use is great too. The phone looks on first glance to be heavy and it doesnt help having a larger than normal clamshell footprint. But after holding it...its becomes quickly apparent that its not much different that many other similar sized phones.

WINDOWS POCKET MEDIA PLAYER

I am that impressed that although I have gotten used to pocket tv in the past because of the poor wmp stuttering.......I am likely to start converting all my previously converted films straight over to win media player format. Pocket win media really is that good.

I dont know how they managed to get this sorted but I imagine it was simply down to the spec of the SPV that made windows media player work like a dodo.

Besides which if you put the phone on a table or desk and play a file like a music video the sound quality sounds like a decent tv or small stereo. I know its really a mono phone but moto have really hit the mark with the build quality and cpu/ram settup.

SMALL GRIPE SORTED

First because of a stupid plugin oversite with the mms software on the phone you will need to edit a value and then reboot the phone if you want to use skins. Its easy and no trouble at all.

I couldnt find the site link but have remembered how to correct the registry and have written a text file that I can email which explains how to edit a single value that sorts it out.

APPLOCKED....BUT NOT ANYMORE

Secondly and this IS good news.....this phone is not as security conscious as the spv and can be unlocked for application installation in 5 seconds flat with a tiny cab file download.....now how cool is that.

Heres the link to

DECERTING

And heres an excellent site dedicated more or less to Mx200 that I found last night.

Mx200.ORG

its a great forum with a lot of usefull advice and links.
