Now that my users (and quite a few world wide) are satisfied with PPCProfiles, I am working on a more professional version. One for the power users amongst us.

At the moment I would love to hear from anyone interested in being part of the beta trial and from anyone who has a request for features.

Just about everything is up for discussion. At the moment the look and feel is being revamped, notification setting have been incorporated, turning the phone on/off (flight mode), skinning the screens, etc, etc

Aleady I have had an enormous amount of email from people saying they love the way PPCProfiles handles its syncing with Outlook. This is all in real time and very efficient. I dare say this processing part of the apps design will remain the same but any enhancement to the feature can be incorporated.

This is a beta test thread for PPCProfile-Pro. If you are interested in beta testing the app please download the latest version which is always in this post.

Functionality as at 11/03/2005

- 5 profile modes (4 totally user definable, 1 special with realtime sync to outlook appointments. No need to refresh it does it all.

- all profile options can be overridden by changing the settings in other programs. Until the user selects a profile then that profiles options are set.

- 3 selection modes

- popup selection. Allows to click on today screen and select profile from popup.

- text buttons. shows profile name as text. Allows single click from today screen to select profile.

- bitmap buttons. shows bitmap buttons. Allow single click from today screen to select profile.

- Basic profile setup from single screen.

- alert type (ring/increasing ring/ring once/vibrate/vibrate & ring/vibrate then ring/none) per profile

- selection of ring tone for each profile

- separate system and ring volumes

- bluetooth setting (on/off/leave as is) per profile NB: MS bluetooth stack only

- Flight mode (on/off/leave as is) per profile.

- Auto mode outlook triggers switching to auto profile on (busy/meeting statuses and freeform text for outlook categories)

- Advanced setup

- Ability to change name of profile

- Notification setting for each profile. Uses available notification (play sound/display a message/flash the red light/vibrate)

- Preview notification sounds.

- Realtime selection of button skins. skins are user createable bitmaps in a particular format and located in the apps directory. Adding and selecting skins on the fly is possible.

While in setup all current options are saved when switching to another profile or notification. This is true for the previous (left arrow) and next (right arrow) menu buttons and the dropdown lists. Clicking the ok (tick) menu button saves the current option and exits. Cancel, well cancel (red cross) just cancels.

Quick Switch function.

Use this if you want to change the profile for a short amount of time. Only available in text button or bitmap button selection modes. Tap and hold on the deisred profile to switch to. A selection box pops up with intervals of time. select the desired interval. the new profile is changed to straight away. after the selected time interval the profile is switched back to the previous one.

Selecting another profile while in a quick switch turns off the quick switch.

Auto profile

This special profile works like this. The user selects the profile to use when not in an appointment then selects auto profile. The auto profile will only fire off when in an outlook appointment at all other times the previously selected profile will be in use. eg select normal. select auto. normal settings are in use. outlook appointment starts. switch is made to auto settings. outlook appointment ends. switch is made back to normal settings. normal settings are in use.

Selecting another profile when in auto mode turns off auto mode.

Status Icons

There are 3 status icons to the left of the profile info.

- Normal icon is displayed when not in a quick switch or outlook appointment

- outlook icon is displayed when profile has switched due to outlook appointment

- quick switch icon is displayed when a quick switch is in progress.

I hope this all makes sense.

The ROM itself works great and I'm very happy with it. However I haven't been able to get PPCProfile working.

Installation looks to be successful as it states the profiles should be available from the today screen. But when I check the today screen there are no profiles. I can't find the program in the start menu programs either. It is listed as installed in the remove programs list.

Does anybody else have this issue? Because I REALLY miss this excellent tool and would like to use it with this excellent rom.

I have a problem with the uninstall PPCProfiles... I have installed it on my Qtek S200... for some reason I would like to uninstal and I have done it. But now, sometimes I have a popups windows notify error that tell me that dont load PPCProfilesAuto. What can I do for erase this issue?

I made a new post to keep the other one for skinning only,

My problem is that, the program always uses the default setting even if I change it to the way I want. I tried all possible way but no luck.

As you can see in the skin I made the first one on the left like turning the mobile off (flight mode on), but it doesn’t (I don’t know if it doesn’t turn flight mode on or it doesn’t save my setting).

Second one as a silent mode, also no luck.

Third one for normal (max system, ringer and in call Volumes) with bluetooth of, doesn’t work.

Forth one, for laud profile (normal profile + bluetooth on), no luck (bluetooth always on!!!).

And fifth one for headphone (low sys and ring volume and hi in call), also does not work.

The program functions ok, but for default setting only. If I changed the default setting and pressed OK on the top or the one down near Advanced setting or press next, one by one or all at a time, it return to the default setting. :x It look like doesn’t save it in the registry if it save the changes their or whatever method.

Also would like to suggest changing the picture of the speaker in Today screen on silent mode or reduce the number of dashes to two or one on soft. Another thing, when scrolling down in today screen using up/down hard arrow keys it jumps the PPC Profile, so you can’t choose the profile by hard up/down keys. Adding this feature is fantastic like spb pocket plus, cause some time you don’t want to touch the screen with dirty finger. :?:

Even though the program doesn’t work (at least for me) I keep in the today screen wishing that it gana work perfectly in one day.

I tried many program like phone alarm and others, but this one is much much better. It is exactly what I want no more on less.

I've used PPCProfiles since around 2005 and found it to be exceedingly useful - just not had the finances availbale until now to make a donation.

Updates of this software seem to have ended in the summer of 2005 with no reports of development continuing since.

Is this really the case?

Sometimes I got the problem that the PPC Profiles are not visible. There is just a blank space instead of the buttons.

If I check off the plugin, return to today and re-check its visible.

As I said, its only sometimes...has anyone got an idea???

I just installed PPC Profiles Pro on my HTC (Tytn or Trion, respectively).

A great program so far... but the vibrate mode does not seem to work. When I set "alarm" to "vibrate" nothing happens.

Does anybody know a solution for that?

However, for some reason it keeps disappearing off my today screen and I cannot get it back with the usual Start>Settings>Today method. I am having to re-install each time. The worst part about this is that the settings are lost (even though it asks 'Do you want to keep the setting').

Does anyone know where the settings are kept so I can backup the file up and re-install when it happens again?

PS. I think it is happening when I do a clean up with Memmaid - but not sure which setting in mem maid is doing it

1) Have the font take on the same size as the other plugins. Currently, the font seems to be fixed, and its alot smaller than the other plugins.

2) Have it selectable from the keypad. Currently, I can use the 5-way keypad (on my Jam) to select all other plugins. PPCProfile is just skipped.

3) When PPCProfile is opending, scrolling between items using the 5-way keypad is buggy. At first, the UP keys has no affect. Then the down key goes 'UP' until the first item is hit, then start going down. At this point, the UP key now works.

4) Have a profiles time activated. for example, you can set a time range for a profile to turn the ppc to flight mode at night to save batteries.

This is the source code for PPCProfiles-Pro V3.00a(build 1.02)

Im releasing the source code so that others may be able to enhance the application for the benifit of everyone and not for personal gain.

The zip file contains the source for all of the components that make up PPCProfiles-Pro.

The main directory contains the source for the today plugin.

Each sub directory contains the source for that component.

PPCProfilesAuto is the program that switches profiles.

PPCProfilesPopup is the program that allows for the popup selection of profiles. From the tray or the today plugin.

PPCProfilesTray is the tray program.

PPCProfilesOptions is the options setup program.

PPCProfilesSetup is the setup program used for installation and removal of the application.

The code has grown along with the development so could use a very good clean up and there are definately areas of the application that could be coded much better.

If anyone needs help with setting up the development environment dont be afraid to contact me.

Great product by the way, if you want some ideas check out Magic Profiles Pro for Symbian UIQ I used to use this on my p910i this had loads of great features.

Also why is there no button to test (play)the ring tone in the main profile page ?

I'm running PPC Profiles on my HTC Prophet, (Orange SPV M600) and have always found the Quick Switch functionality to be a little intermittent, and so pretty much gave up on using that particular bit of the program.

Playing a little more today, it looks as though the area you need to 'click and hold' is in fact much smaller than the whole icon that you press to switch profiles- is it possible that there has been a programming error somewhere here? i.e. the quick switch only seems to work if I press a very small strip along the bottom edge of an icon button

[NB. I'm using the 'Icon Buttons' set 'PPCProfilesBlank.bmp' with Display Names Over Buttons in case that makes any difference.

NB My touch screen alignment does seem to be correct.]

Incidentally, it would also be nice if the quick switch functionality could be implemented using the middle hardware key on my WM5 device. i.e if I click and hold the hardware button when over an icon I am only able to switch to that profile rather than quick switch.

Other than that little niggle I have to say that I think the program is extremely useful.

I am looking for a feature that afaik is not provided by an existing phone software. when i am in the car, i want to adjust the phone, that it uses the hands free system for incoming and outgoing calls and automatically answers to incoming calls after 3 (for example) rings. the idea is, that i am not required to fiddle with the phone while driving.

do you think such a feature is possible? Would it be hard to integrate this in ppc profiles?

However, I got a few problems:

i. System Tray disappeared even uninstalling PPCProfile. Does anybody can tell me how can I get the try back ?

ii. Auto Switching doesn't work well. Speaker will switch off automatically even the current active profile is Normal.

I will use PPCProfilesPro an my HTC Wizard (MDA Vario) with Windows Mobile 5.

I have two questions to the software.

1. Command Line

Is it possible to start PPCProfilesPro without the Today-Screen? I will start it from a separate created "New menu for WM5" (Link).

2. Two Profiles

Is it possible two create two profiles like this:

2.1 Normal

Here the Wizard should vibrate and ring on telephone-calls, sms and mms.

It should ring / vibrate on calendar-notifications.

This profile should be no problem.

2.2 Work

At work the wizard is connected the hole day to my notebook. The wizard should be very quiet in the bureau and don't disturb my colleagues with with notifications :)

Here is my problem. The Wizard should vibrate on telephone-calls, sms and mms and he should NOT ring ring / vibrate on calendar-notifications (or other).

So I get the telephone-calls, sms and mms. This are only some "vibrates" per day.

And the calendear-notifications (or other) are signalized on the notebook (for example in Outlook).

So is this possible with PPCProfilesPro?

I tried out PPCProfiles Pro yesterday on my MDA Vario, but decided it wasn't for me - I couldn't get the "click and hold to temporarily set a profile" option to work reliably, and also found that my phone had become quite unresponsive (e.g. press the power button, and it could take up to 5 seconds before the screen was turned off). I uninstalled it last night, and since then, I've lost all my ringtones.

If I click Start > Settings > Phone, under "Ring Tone", I see 8 filenames, each repeated twice, with a space before the ".". In other words....

Windows Default .wma

However, none of them can be used - I get a message stating that the tone is either corrupt or unavailable. In addition, my usual ringtone, stored in \Windows\Rings is not listed.

I've tried a soft reset, but that's made no difference. Is there anything else I can try, short of a hard reset?

Firstly, thanks for such a great app. Unbelievably configurable and free to boot!

A couple of quick questions if you don't mind. Firstly, the dumbest... what is the purpose of the "sync" icon to the right of the today entry in "Popup Select" mode?

Secondly, a possible bug, also in "Popup Select" selection mode, the text size displayed in the today screen entry does not change with the rest of the entries. For example, changing to the smallest text in "Start -> Settings -> System -> Screen -> Text Size"

does not affect the size of text displayed for PPCProfiles Pro.

I did see another thread highlighting the issue but it appears it not reproduceable. Maybe someone could confirm it happening on their device too and it's not just mine.

i am new to this site. I have o2 xda mini s and trying to install PPCProfiles on the sevice. i don't have windows based machine at home so i am trying to install with cam file which i downloaded onto the phone but when i try to run it it does not let me . it comes up with error message "there is no application associated with file.run the application first then openthis file within the application"
