I am a fan of my HTY T4242 WM6.5 clone. Great value. However, the screen has cracked and needs replaced. I can get the part, but disconnecting the old screen grey connector to the board is not happening. It has a small clip that has been unclipped, but still the connector is stuck there as if by glue. Since anybody selling the HTY screens has disclaimers saying if you don't know how to do this they won't help, there must be some trick. Anybody who speaks English know the trick to share with everybody?

Since there isn't a dedicated forum section or thread for Hantel phones. I am creating this thread to assist others in garnering more info about Hantel mobile phones. The Hantel phones are actually good quality phones, they are not cheap Chinese clones. Believe me, I bought 2 of those Sciphone i68+ for my brother and sister, both are decent phones but they have terrible reception and though they may look like an iPhone they only can run Java apps and the OS is clunky and hard to navagate :D . My Hantel on the other hand has very good reception (actually better than my Motorola Ming), it has a good quality 2 MP camera, the LCD and touch screen is excellent, and has Windows Mobile 6.1(apps out the wazzu!) :( .

Hantel (was a Taiwanese Corp. but was recently bought out by a Chinese Billionaire. Not sure about the future of the company.)

hTY models: A51, A580, A858, Q5, T4242 (these are the only ones I trust to be actual hTY phones. There are other so called models but they are either renamed models to make them sound newer for sales purposes or they are clones.)

So here we go:

1)Though it may say Elf 0100 under the battery, the hTY Q5 is no HTC Touch. They have the same Texas Instruments ARM 926T processor and OMAP 1030 chipset, but they are not the same phone. The mainboards are similar in shape but the components are in different locations. Believe me, an ELF ROM will not work, I have tried it and took forever to find the info and the program to revive my Q5.

2)Different versions of the same model. The first version of the Q5 had the ILI LCD screen and the newer version has the LG LCD screen. To find out which LCD your phone has, simply type in **168## on your Myphone Keypad. This will launch the HCIT Test Program, here you can get info on your phone's ROM Version and test the controls, LEDs and LCD screen. Select 1:Phone Info, this should give you a string of numbers and letters similar to this Q5_LEN_WM6.1_V3.00_091216_LG28_OV2_HY76_HTF_ND_BT_ WF_G. Write them down and keep for future referance. Notice in the middle of the string (_LG28_) this is the LCD version. The older version will be have (_ILIxx_). The reason you need to know which LCD verion that your phone has, the ROM that you may intend to flash must have the correct LCD screen drivers. If you flash a LG LCD ROM onto a phone with the ILI LCD, your LCD will no long turn on at boot up. But this can be easily remedied by flashing the correct ROM using the proceedures in the next step.

3)Flashing a new ROM .img: This is a straight forward proceedure, you simply place the file uploader.img into the /root of you SD TFlash card. Turn off phone, insert TFlash, press and hold the select button(middle navigation button), then press the power button. A white screen will appear with Chinese characters which roughly translate to "Updating ROM"

Allow phone to complete the flash process and the phone will reboot with the new ROM image.

***Do not flash with any ROM images from the Chinese forums, all are in Chinese and most don't even have an English keyboard. All the Chinese ROMs that claim to be WM 6.5 are just 6.1 with a fake shell.*** I'm investigating into the hTY 3232, if it has the same mainboard as the 858 / Q5. If so we may have a source for an English ROM. Stand by!

4)There is a ROM Kitchen that will work with the hTY ROMs, it's called Scoter's Kitchen. I haven't downloaded it yet. I saw it in one of the treads on a the http://forum.chinafonini.it forum. I've been reading up on the proceedures necessary to dump the ROM. I will provide links to info on other forums as I locate them or at least congregate them all into on file sharing server.

5)So far most all the apps that I have tried work flawlessly. But there are always exceptions. I will also post any apps that will cause trouble.

Can use dial up web - costs a fortune as I'm PAYG. So wifi direct was intention for quick hotspot checks.

Carried out usual button press - the green bars show good connection, passwords enabled - just won't connect.

Tried different cards - T mobile, Orange, O2 just incase some blocking going on. - phone works good on all - just no wifi.

Not wifi server as friends mobile comes on right away.

Anyway the wifi should work without a sim card ?

spent some time following threads and trying varing options to no avail - it'll be one of the simple ones?

anyone with similar problems and an easy solution? (or even a hard solution!)

I've got a new i-mate SP5m for which I need to set the WiFi connectivity to my home wireless router. The way my router is setup is, I need to set a static IP for my device before connecting to my router. I tried all possible options but don't find a way to set a static IP, Default Gateway & Primary/Secondary DNS for the device.

Pls note, I am not trying to connect thru GPRS, it's WiFi connection.

After reading the posts from SpeedFrog and Ajeshm about Manila Sense 2.5 on the Samsung section, i felt like installing this piece of software on my LG GM750, 'cos i find it great! :)

You know, i just hate the installed S-Class interface from LG and I'm definetly not fan of the SPB solution. :lol:

Ok, the whole community claims it's not worth porting this 2.5 version to QVGA or WQVGA because of some incompatible OpenGl 3D drivers, so some winphones like Omnia is declared 'not working' !

What I did is install the cab on a clean Rom, the 10c updated with the officail LG update tool, and you know what ? It's WORKING ! :D

The only issues are, because of the VGA resolution, too large icones and texts, backgrounds and stuffs, and the HTC footprint which causes an error of authenticity :D

Any other things seems to be working like a charm. I say 'seems', cause I cant see the whole screen !

So, i decided to make a small java program (somekind of a script) to reduce all the resolution's references from xml files like 'pos="0,0,480,800"' half the size to 'pos="0,0,240,400"' for exemple...

But I'm stuck, it's still showing like it's a too big (VGA like).

If someone is interressed in this thread, i'll send you pics of it, proving it's working...

I am new to this forum and may not be posting in the right area, forgive me and move me on if necessary!

I have a Vario 3, it's a couple of years old (am due to upgrade in July, but until then I need my problem diagnosed and sorted).

When I have the phone plugged into USB to use Active Sync (to sync the phone with my tasks and calendar) no sounds will play, only vibrate.

This is more annoying than having the sounds because the vibrate is so loud it causes a nuisance in the office.

I need the phone connected throughout the day because I am a PA and I need to make sure my phone matches my calendar in real time.

Is there a setting I can change to force it to play external sounds when connected to the PC please?

I've searched for the Jet but I'm guessing you guys don't have much about it here yet because it's a new phone and all.

I know it's like a million to one shot but I'm wondering if it's possible to have or maybe you know someone of have port android to work on my phone, found that Omnia have some good tests with it and it's working pretty well atm...

Just got one of these for testing for work. We need to be able to change the PAP/CHAP GPRS settings like on every other Windows Mobile we have.

However we cannot find the option. On a Touch Diamond 2, also WinMo 6.5 it is under Settings/Communication/Advanced Network. However on the Acer the Advanced Network tab doesnt exist.

I have tried a full hard reset, a firmware upgrade, all to no avail.

Can anyone please advise? Is there an option to turn it on in the registry? Is the phone faulty? Note Acer support is useless.

For the longest time I've just wanted a phone that has great emulation and great ports of games, and symbian 60 has quite a bit.

Here I'm proud to show Quake 3 running on my Nokia N82, hope you guys enjoy!

The device is Pharos137 with 512M ROM.

I am trying to cook a ROM for this device and it fails to boot if add any file larger than 5Mb to OEM folder.

When Google Map cab(which is less than 4Mb) is added to OEM with out any changes to XIP and SYS every thing goes well. Device boots up and installs the cab.

But when I try just adding Skype cab or Copilot or any other cab larger than 6Mb, device fails to boot and struck at spalsh screen!

Is there a setting for IMGFS size? Where is it stored and how do I change it?

Having ROM size of 512M and unable to cook IMGFS larger than 90M is stupid I think. But such is my problem!

Can any one please point me to a solution?

BTW I have gathered various tools and put together into a kitchen. So I might not be having all the tools! I have also ported XIP and SYS and successfully created a ROM that boots. But when I try adding larger files to OEM it fails to boot.

I try to cook a Rom for Ciphone C6. I found OSNBTOOL and it seems to work fine.

For the first time I just try to extract IMGFS.BIN and write it back to the File without making any changes.

Extracting seem to works well but I can't built a flashable Rom from it

My CiPhone.new.bin is allways smaller than the original one and it is not flashable.

I hope someone can Help me.

Some things I am looking at doing is implementing multiplayer (bluetooth and online play), single player, coop mode, and so on. I'd also like to make use of the accelerometer in the phone (specifically the Omnia). The game is a 2D Game accelerated by Direct3D, supports network player up to 150-200 players (right now this is buggy but works). Of course we're very early alpha, and development tools are no very far. The game is free (ads on the website, that's it) for now. Donations will be accepted for it.

For movement, I was thinking of having the ability to use the accelerometer to walk forward, backup, etc. Since it's top-down (like Zelda LTTP), it would probably work pretty well with an accelerometer on a phone.

What about multiplayer? I never seen a multiplayer game on a phone, of course displaying 200-300 players on a cell phone wouldn't be feasible at all so it would half to be limited to say 20 people at a time. I know my data rate for my Omnia is about 40-90KBps down and up, which isn't bad at ALL. I would LOVE to be able to allow cell phone users to play with the PC users (and of course be immune to certain functions that PC users can do but phones can't). It would be cool to hop on chat with your friends, and so on through your phone while sitting at a airport or stuck at the in laws house.... And of course this would have to have a unlimited data plan.

I would probably have to scale the game back graphically. It's not TOO intense, and does feel similar to LTTP (and no it is not a clone).

Another idea I had was allow your cell phone to link (bluetooth OR network) to your PC, and use it to control the game (like DS-Wii/GC)... not sure if this would be worth it or what?

The MOST important thing is allowing this cell phone version to support loading levels from the PC version. I know it'd have to have some kind of modification, but this would prevent us from not having to recreate our tools. A different file saving format would be perfectly fine of course. My only problem right now is processing Lua...

Any opinions or ideas let me know =)

...I bought (a reasonably cheap) special E72 dedicated to the BT Fusion Service (merging VOIP via WIFI with GSM in a seamless way - called UMA). Now I see that others seem to have different ROMs with also different options to set. I want to collect here the differences in the ROMs.

I am sure this can be settled by manipulating the relevant registry entries (HKLM\Init\ watch the Launchnn variables) - but it may take some time to find the bare minimum of a "normal, non UMA" device.

9.) Which potentially HW dependent Programs are reported to work? I suspect this is not depending on the ROM, so I will not separate the list here by ROM. Just mention for which ROM you have tested it in brackets after the program. Please do not list normal programs here - it would be just too many. Most programs that do not run are restricted by the Application Lock, not the device HW.

On telephoning expansys the operator said that I would have to complete a form, an RMA request form, which I dutifully completed and sent on the 17/06/2009 complete with the attachment of the completed form. To date there has been no response, not even a message to say that my email was being dealt with. I further sent a similar request to Mwg and again no response. A close relative of mine, who researches global trade issues, is considering a project on the title "Is Globalisation the Enemy of Democracy?" It would seem so, when international companies do not abide by the laws of the countries within which they sell there products. In the UK there is an Act of Parliament called the Sale of Goods Act, which states (forgive me if I misquote a little). . . that goods shall be of mercantable quality - fit for the purpose.

Please can anyone from the nether world of cyberspace, expansys, Mwg provide an old buffer with some advice, instruction, or other help to enable this useful bit of kit, to become a superb purveyor of the latest modern technology.
