Hi Everyone!

I am having trouble getting internet access through WiFi.

This is my first smartphone with Wlan support so I could very well have missed some fundemental settings.

This is how I have done:

x Turned on WiFi, found my FON router, added it

x Applied following settings:

       Authorizing: WPA-PSK

       Datacrypto: TKIP

       Network key: entered correctly

x Phone connects succesfully to FON router

I tried to connect the public wifi FON network and it works fine now

A friend of mine who has a Nokia N91 could connect through my router just fine without any trouble.

All he had to do was a search for wifi networks, selected my network, entered key, and voila!

What have I done wrong?

Hey,

So I have some problems with my HTC S710.

1. My QWERTY keyboard isnt working right. When I click R i get E, when I click T i get R and so on.. It's so annoying. Only the first line Q-P don't work properly. How I can fix this?

2. Secondly, I can't watch videos in Youtube. Why not?:S

3. AND the biggest problem is, that I don't understand how I can't end a call? It says "connected" orsmt and only if the person who I call, ends the call, then the call will only end. I have tried to push down red button and opened the slide, but nothing.. the call don't stop..

I bought this HTC from internet and I don't know how to do some stuff.. So i'm kinda sad:( Please help me

This worked like a charm on my French HTC S710 (fully app-unlock off course) .

Just install this CAB on your device, then reboot.

Now every time you 'll clic on a video on m.youtube.com , HTC Streaming Media will pop up, and let you play, pause and stop the video . Great isn't it?

No lag, the vids load in a few seconds with wifi.

Found on XDA-developers.

So I turned my HTC S710 (Vox) off and plugged it in to charge the other night. The next morning I woke up, unplugged it, and tried to turn it on but it won't. There's no LED indicator on and it won't turn on while it's plugged in. The battery is charged, I checked it with a multimeter. HTC said over the phone they can repair it but it would cost over $200 for a new motherboard.

I think the Vox has a replaceable fuse somewhere inside. I looked at the service manual and I couldn't find it. Any info on where it is before I break into the phone and remove any chance of HTC fixing it?

Hiya folks!

The Vox (in its many guises and model numbers for various operators and networks) has been around for a year or two now, any I know that man of us have got right under the bonnet and tinkered around.

So my question is, who has done what and what kind of results are we getting?

I have re-flashed mine a couple of times and am currently running WinMo 6.5 from FH's Official ROM, and am also running pTravelAlarm and Opera 4. I fitted an extended battery (2250mAh) to give it some extra endurance in its overclocked state of 264MHz.

All in all, I reckon this gives the handset a new lease of life and compensates for some of its original drawbacks (especially the keypad response in its normal-clocked state).

Lets see what everyone else has done and compare notes :-)

Hi All

I suspect this may have already been covered in another thread but I can't find it so here goes ...

First of all, thanks Fireburned for a fantastic WM6.5 ROM. Really like it and it is completely stable and reliable. Great!!!

Now for the question:

I have added a new panel to the Sliding Panel home screen layout for links (CLinks). I have added several pages and done the necessary links to the various apps I want to access from this panel. However:

I cannot find how to add the correct icons to the Pictures field. I think I must be missing something but I do not know how to get the correct icon numbers to add.

Do I need to upload special icons and if so in what format/size?

Can I just link to the icons associated with the .exe files to which I have linked from the panel?

If neither of the above how do I add the icons I want to be displayed in this panel on the home page?

Hope I am not being too thick and you will take pity on an old man whose brain is probably not working too well LOL

Thanks one and all.

Hi,

i own a htc s710 - fka Vodafon VDA V (with vodafon brand, etc.) It was used by my company. I got it as a present...

First, i wiped memory by making a soft reset. I used the app located in expert.

Then, i flashed ROM with this version here.

Everything seems to work fine. But now i face a lot of problems:

- wifi issue: adapter temp. gone - until reboot

- battery lasts only a few minutes

- phone says bye, bye during a call...

I think all are very well known problems!

Well, i tried to make a reset again. But i can't find the app in expert folder! Hard Reset using soft keys doesn't work, too. I pressesd post softkeys and power key, but nothing happened! I am getting only the vodafone splash screen. Well, i thought phone is debranded? But vodafon logo appears, when i switch on my phone.

There isn't any warranty, etc. So, can fix most of problems with a new battery pack? I searched for it and found one for only 10 euros. Really cheap...

Why does hard reset not work? Can i download soft-reset cab anywehre?

Thx.

greets Crusher

I have the Vodafone V1415 version of the HTC Vox. I want to find a way to automatically switch on Bluetooth at certain times of the day. (During the time I normally drive to/from work, so I can use my hands free kit in the car. 7am-8am, and then 5pm-6pm. Ideally, it should only be on Mon-Fri too, but I could live without that function).

I found one application to do this, WirelessTime, but the developer advised it is not suitable for Smartphones, only PPC. I tried installing it, and indeed, it doesn’t work.

Can anyone advise how else I can implement this?

My S710 was on my passenger seat in my car when I had to anchor the brakes on whilst driving on the motorway.

Mr HTC decided to carry-on (no seatbelt!) and slam into the glove compartment. When he hit the floor he was in two parts connected only by the ribon bable beteen the display half and the keyboard half.

Anyone any ideas hot to reconnect the two bits together?

3D Menu System

Here is the 3d menu for any wm6 smartphone

included in the zip is the 3d menu cab files and the removal of the application security.

i have also included the de brand pack which removes the htc green colours and the blur version of the audio manager as well.

After the 3d menu is installed you have to take out the batery from the phone for 30 seconds as the phone will not boot for some reason ( why i do not know ) but by removing the battery the problem is solved and the phone will boot up normally , you will also have the homescreen which will give you the option to switch from 2d to 3d but if you do not like that the switch application can be found in the menu under applications ( in the 3d menu )

The zips enclosed are .

3d menu ( an automated version which you copy and the phone will install it automaticly ) simply copy the extracted 2577 folder to your sd card and reboot the phone or remove and reinsert the sd card for it to install.

Or for people who have problems with getting it to work use the 3d menu + as this contains only the cab files for the 3d menu PLUS the application unlock , the S710 htc debrander and the blue audio manager ( if you have the nasty green htc version ) the debrander removes all the green htc icons and call screens and gives you the blue screens.

If you have the dopdo rom and want the original htc S710 rom you can download it from

(edit : link removed ) the rom you need is RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.2_4.1.13.37_02.83.90_Ship.exe

The 3rd zip is the extra applications you get the voice commander and info feed should you want them

the 3d menu has been tested and works on both wm5 and 6 ( spv C600 and a htc S710 )by installing only the 3d cab and homescreen fix

3D_Menu.zip

3d_menu__.zip

xtra_applications.zip

I've looked everywhere and all i've found is the service manual but that tells me how to disassemble the entire phone not just get to the screen. Is there a user-made guide out there?

Hi all,

Wonder if anyone can help? My Vox can't access any micro SD card... can't see it as a pseudo-folder in File Explorer on the phone or Windows Explorer via ActiveSync, can't access it with Media Player.

The story is a little involved. This device started as an SPV E650. I was given it by a friend when my SPV C550 keyboard died, and he mentioned that it would not read the card. I sim-unlocked it, and put up with the lack of card access for a while, then found time to flash it with the latest Orange ROM I could find (1.35.61.1) in the hope that this would help.

For a few minutes after flashing, I could see through File Explorer on the phone and Windows Explorer via ActiveSync that the card was there. Thinking all the problems were past, I then changed a few settings (eg Home Screen, nothing advanced), took out the card to throw some music onto it via my card reader, put the card back in, and.... nothing. Can't see it again.

So I tried the whole job again from hard reset to flash, and still couldn't see the card. Emboldened, I have flashed now to HTC's ROM (1.34.405.1) and still can't see it.

Does anyone have better ideas than get a new phone?

Thanks in advance,

Bill.

I dropped water on the HTC VOX and a couple of the buttons now work with difficulty.

This was a while ago so it should be dry.

The buttons are on the up paddle and the centre push button on the paddle.

Is there anything I can do.

I have the service manual and taking it apart to clean up loks like an arduous task.

Is there something I can spray it with ? etc ?

Thanks

Just checked the Vox software update page on the HTC site and they have released a Network Settings Wizard for download.

I'll just cut'n'paste the info here as it's pretty self explanitory.

Network Settings Wizards

Download a wizard which lets you install connection settings for your device (Web, WAP, MMS) for a selection of mobile operators.

UK operators [O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone...]

France [sFR, Orange, Bouygues...]

Germany [O2, T-mobile, E-plus, Vodafone...]

Italy [Vodafone, Wind, TIM, 3]

Spain [Movistar, Orange, Vodafone]

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland

You can get direct access to the Setup Files by signing up to be a member of the HTC E-Club on the their site.

The HTC Website seems to be having issues at the moment, i've downloaded them all ( on 30-July-07 ) and attached them here.

Extract the files from the archive and run them on your PC.. ActiveSync must be installed

Hi

I own a SPV E650 and have been trying to get the youtube player/downloader working. I have TCPMP 0.81RC1 and Flashvideobundle 1.4.4 installed, when i go to Youtube to play or save the video i keep getting the message"this video link is not valid"and the video won't start. This program used to work last year when i was using TCPMP v0.72RC1 but that doesn't work now either.Do i need to update plugins or something?

Has anyone been able to play or download youtube videos using windows smartphone and TCPMP recently?Or are there any other programs to play or download .flv files directly to phone. If so could you give me instructions.

Thanks

I have recently stumbled upon a problem which I just cant solve so I was hoping somebody can help me out since I searched this and the xda-developers forum for a solution.

If you want to connect to a WEP encrypted wireless network, you need to enter the key in ASCII format since there is no option to enter it in hexadecimal. Now this works fine as long as the ASCII keys are regular numbers and letters. however if your WEP key uses ASCII keys such as Æ (corresponds to C6 in hex) or other unusual characters, there is no way of entering the key since they do not appear in the symbols menu of the S710. Now what I already tried was to copy and paste the symbols from a textfile I created on the pc and then transfered it to the S710. Even though the characters appear fine in the WEP key box, the S710 will not connect to the network stating the key would be incorrect. So obviously Windows Mobile 6 recognises the characters in some form but then it wont work for the WEP keys.

So I was wondering is there anyway I can enter the hexadecimal key? Maybe directly into the registry over an editor? Or maybe there is a zero config utility that will accept hexadecimal keys?

Any help would be appreciated.
