Everything else seems to work, just getting it all right for you guys.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. How To Flash Omnia (click it & read it), Download ROM, extract part 1.

2. Let Omnia reboot at Robot screen, you know when. After the reboot, Do the Operator Stuff.

3. Goto Settings, connections, operator...change to operator that is NOT yours. Leave for 30 secs. Then change back to your operator. Leave for 30 secs. Good to GO

This is a given really on any ROM, just to ensure you have the right connectivity settings . Also Tick the box, in Browser Connection to automatically detect settings.

4. SOFT RESET OMNIA!!

5. To enable Windows dialler, use Advanced Config - Goto Phone & disable SKIN

*. < TO ENABLE LOUDSPEAKER DURING A CALL >

LONG PRESS THE CALL BUTTON ( the one on the left :D ) - It will activate the loudspeaker, regardless of what dialler tyou are using!!.

I've been following the discussions here on Modaco, and have been reading up various sources on how to cook up a custom rom. After gathering some of the wisdom and knowledge from other helpful rom chefs, I'm happy to present my roms for the i900 Omnia.

Having problems with keyboards, M2D etc? Remember to read my second post, where you can find solutions to common problems you may encounter, such as problems with M2D Home Weather, Wifi etc. And don't forget your best friend Google. If there's a particular issue you can't resolve, post it here and I'll try to get back to you within 3 working days ;) .

And to help you pick a suitable rom, check out this handy chart which I've put together following feedback from our friends here. Also check out Sb.'s post on the different build branches.

Trying a custom rom for the first time? Read up Sector's guide first, and follow it up with tips from Angel's collection. It's a good idea to backup your contacts, messages etc before each flash.

Hi everyone!

I'm back with some new roms for our i900s. For the past 3 months or so, I've been gathering some new ingredients. Would like to thank yonn1981 for pioneering some really nice innovations like the Connection Setup wizard and the new version of Manila Sense.

I've updated ockInstallMe to version 6, which features serfer222's brilliant XDA_UC_NET app. This allows you to customise options such as enabling dialer skin and disabling rotation animation during the setup process. Do note it only supports reading from "My Storage"

I've kept the original autorun process, so if you don't feel like trying out the new setup process, simply create a file called donotdisturb.txt in your \My Storage\XDA_UC folder.

These will probably be my last roms for the i900, hope you enjoy them! More versions of 29005 coming soon ;)

tested this reg tweaks worked for me without any driver

also internal gps works :D :D (INTERNAL GPS COM3 GUYS) AND ALSO SUPERFAST FIX YEHAAAA

I installed TT7.917, but this wasn't enough to make it work without GPS Proxy, so I searched the internet and I found this on a German web site, and it works for me on my Omnia i900!!:

Change these settings in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\InputBufferSize: set from 4096 to 512

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\OutputBufferSize: set from 4096 to 512

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\SleepOnNoData: set from 100 to 0

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Multiplexer\MaxBufferSize: set from 16384 to 1024

The rest is the same as the usual GPS and TomTom settings. I used com port 4 (and 9 for hardware), but you can probably use any other port that hasn't been assigned yet.

That's a graphic improvement (so they saying), because of i900's lack of 3D supporting. In some roms you'll see difference, in other no. This is just software based solution, it still uses the CPU instead of the GPU.

ClearTemp v1.2.2 [Clean temporary files]

ClearTemp is an application for you to free up storage space on your device. It allows you to clear temporary/unused files and unused registry keys/values on your system easily. It also allows you to clear your Recent Program List, Internet Address History and soft reset counter. You can even change the location of the temporary folders (Cache, History & Cookies) or e-mail attachment folder to the Storage Card. If you have custom folders/files which you wish to clear, you can also add them in.

CleanRAM v.2.2 [Memory reclaimer]

One solution when your PDA slows down is to reset (reboot) and the another is to use cleanRAM. cleanRAM is an amazing utility which helps you to clean up the wasted RAM memory without having to restart the device and eventually saves a lot of time. cleanRAM is a very useful tool for Windows Mobile devices. cleanRAM lets you with a single click release part of the RAM on your PDA and accelerating in this way. cleanRAM is a memory reclaimer similar to Oxios but with advanced settings and actually works! You can install Omnia programs by yourself.

Mini-Howto's:

1. Enable wake up by front/any button: This ROM was set by default to front button. Go to settings>Personal>Buttons>Wake up and select what you want.

2. Cannot connect to internet: Go to Settings>Connections>Operator settings, Set a different operator than yours wait for 30 secs and then re-enable your default one.

3. Using XDA_UC to install programs automatically Thanks to Noonski

Included in Lite and Extra Lite ROM are XDA UC, which is a brilliant way of installing all your usual cabs after a flash using mort script. The process is fully automatic and requires no user intervention (unless you want to install onto My storage/ Storage card). It will commence a few seconds after starting up and MUST NOT BE INTERRUPTED. Readmore about it HERE. This is how to do it:

3.1. Create a XDA_UC folder on the root of your storage card. In this folder, copy all the cabs you want to have installed onto the main memory.

3.2. In the XDA_UC folder, create a folder called SD. In this folder, place all the cabs that want to install onto Storage card/ My Storage. You will have get the option where to install them. Please note, if you install a cab that needs restarting after install (e.g Office), DO NOT restart, wait til everything’s installed and then restart manually (You will get a message when it’s all done) >>Thanks to Master Nick B)

this is my first post here... I guess my post will be helpful for all here..i read it somewhere in this forum so i would like to thank the original authors..i would also like to thank all of the advanced users who has made this possible.i m creating a beginner friendly post so all can understand how easy it is to flash from windows 7 no need of vmvare,install xp specially to flash ur omnia and besides u need not need a fresh installation to make it work...i flashed my omnia using this method many times without any problems.I m using 64bit windows 7 ultimate..

flashing still is considered risky as many cooks and chefs say so i m not responsible if u brick your phone i don t think u ll have any problems if u follow my instructions...

so tools u need before flashing ur omnia i900.

important: no need to install samsung modem driver included in the rar file coz windows 7 automatically installs it so not a problem..

step 1: download your favorite rom

step 2:extract the contents of the rar file provided by me from the links to anywhere u like.open the ExEcutor folder and double click on ExEcutor.exe some antiviruses detect as trojan but its safe to use see authors thread for more info about ExEcutor

step 3:the default language is unknown to me :D but u can change it to english by pressing crl+E

step 4:extract the contents of the rar file that contains the rom.so u should have an exe file for eg:Yonn_i900_HS_v2.01_21690_2MBCache_XPR_12PP.exe

step 5:now

step 6: once u click on it a popup will appear just click on the exe file ie; your rom.exe.once you have done that u can click go.It will create a new folder for eg:Yonn_i900_HS_v2.01_21690_2MBCache_XPR_12PP inside u can see 3-5 files depending on the rom.

step 7: open grandprix folder see for grandprix.exe

note:very important: right click on grandprix and run as administrator.or ur u will get error pda not found...

step 8:Select the GRANDPRIX LV image profile at the top

step 9:Click Loader/PDA/CSC one at a time, pointing them at the files your extracted using Executor in the folder for ex:Yonn_i900_HS_v2.01... (note that the CSC isn't always present)

step 10:deselect "Start downloading immediately"

step 11:Turn phone off/plug into PC/turn on and press DETECT in Grandprix

step 12:When it comes up as device is found, press START DOWNLOADING

step 13: Phone will reboot, and when the omnia logo comes up again, press START DOWNLOADING one more time

step 14: u have sucessfully flashed your omnia

Additional info

some chefs like Steff195 provide u for windows 7 now this saves u r time even more.so how do i install it??

extract the contents in the rar to a folder u should have 3 files eboot.nb0 , pda.bin, and userdownloader.exe just skip the first 6 steps coz no need to use ExEcutor and follow the steps after step 7 assuming that u have grandprix

FAQ:

1.i get an get an error 'device not found' in grand prix what should i do??(update)

this generally happens when u have reseted ur storage memory or internal memory and connect it without restarting the device..if u get this error don t panic..just close grand prix,switch off ur phone and switch it on wait for a few mins until everything is displayed and then restart ur phone and follow the procedure for grandprix and switch off ur phone and then restart and press detect it should detect...

2.I switch off phone and connect to phone and press DETECT and phone powers up but still device doesn't get detected what should i do??

no worries just restart ur phone again it will get detected

To change ringtone, navigate to the file with file explorer and tap and hold, select set as ringtone in the popup menu. . There's a taskmanager attached which Close programs with the x-button (ported to omnia thanks to Blazingwolf!!)

If you are having connection problems, try changing to a different provider to yours, wait 30 sec, then change back to your own.. Then your sms/mms/internet settings will be automatically configured. Also go settings\connnecttions\browser connections and tick Automatically detect settings..Also i've now added ADC (in tools folder)..

To transform your standard File explorer, install THIS CAB. Now there's no need for a third party File Explorer!!

That’s it I think. Seems a lot but I’ve done a lot of work on the sys and it’s still a very fast ROM (Freed up space in right places).

Before flashing this rom:

Make sure you have a XDA_UC folder created on the storage card/ My Storage with a SD folder inside it. Drop in here the apps you want be installed automatically. I recommend you put Touchresponse in here and the Registry tweak cab attached (saves a lot of typing).

After flash:

When you get to the first “tap screen to setup device”, wait for it to restart automatically (around 15-30sec).

If you go in to map the right soft-key in M2DC the left sometimes revert back to contacts. Just go back to TFDConfig and change the right soft-key back to Today.

I was browsing the web and found sth interesting http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer

Well, there is a device on same hardware platform as i900 Omnia running stock Android 2.2 Froyo. Im just wondering is there any interested dev, to look into it and maybe port it. The tech specs are the same as Omnia so it must go smooth as the native Android device.

I tested many Custom ROMs, like QBUS, Shokka, Taril, and others.

And I noticed that almost Custom ROMS use FlashLite 3.1 with Samsung Widgets (that works only with FlashLite 2.1).

Now I have my own Custom ROM and I would like to put FL3.1 inside, but I can't "remove" FL2.1 because I want to use Samsung Widget.

I have the FL3.1.cab and if I install or cook it... the Samsung Widget doesn't work!

I searched around how to include FL3.1 and use Samsung Widgets, but nobody explain this.

I asked help, sending MP to some users (custom rom builders), and nobody answered me!

Why this is kept in secret?

Can someone explain what should be removed and what should be kept in the ROM to work with FL3.1+Samsung Widget?

I would appreciate if somebody helps!

Hello peeps, i made some themes for our phones :D Hs++ theme, lockscreen, startmenu mod and a simple black wm theme..

READ CAREFULLY PLEASE

The hs++ theme is fullscreen you must install nueNoBar to disable softkeybar/startbar.

HS++ THEME

Homescreen (There are 2 homescreens, one with analog clock and one with dıgıtal clock)

- press on N/A to update the weather and hold to add your city

- Phone, Bluetooth, Wifi bar: white is on grey is off

- Calls, sms, mail bar: white is missed call, new sms/email grey is nothing

- Tap and hold on the plus icon to add or edit a shortcut. To delete go to applications page 15to18 is digital clock page and 19to22 is analog clock page.

- Home icon on the bottom is to access the startmenu

Messages and email Pages

- Add/edit your email account to work them properly

- Press on refresh button to see your sms/emails

Contacts Page

- To add a contacts press on it

- Your contacts/phonebook must be on your phone not on your sim

- Hold to remove

Weather Page

- Hold on the refresh button to add your city

- Important!! The weather page is not connected with the homescreen weather they are different

Applications Page

- Tap add/edit and choose the number

- Same for deleting it

Music player & Communication Page

- Press on the play button and nitrogen will run in the background

- Press the name Music Player to see/open nitrogen on the foreground

- For the communication press on the icons to enable and disable it

GMT RETRO CLOCK

From start/settings/Home GMT Retro clock you can choose different analog clocks

STARTMENU

İts a list startmenu with no icons. İ don´t know which programs you are using, so change your icons to a blank png file.

KNOWN BUG

There is a irritating little problem/bug. Because we have removed the startbar some buttons are different and if you use a screen with your keyboard, the keyboard icon hangs on the theme. Tap on the startmenu en close it to remove the icon on the screen.

After spending hours looking for the right ROM, and the right way to flash my Omnia under Vista, tonight I took the chance and flashed it.

I Used several ROM's, all unassembled with i900Executor, and alwys the same problem in Grand Prix.

It starts flashing, eBoot, then reboot and that's where it happens... pda device not found!

This is what Grand Prix says :

I tried several different ROMs, even an official Samsung ROM, always the same problem...

Now my phone boots into the Samsung Omnia logo, and stays there.... Hard Reset works, but doesn't help, it stays at the boot screen... what to do?

First of all for the newbies i would recommend to play a bit with the phone before upgrading. Get to know how your phone and current ROM works.

Please be patient and read again if you don't understand anything. Make sure that you know what you are doing.

Important :

Those who then want to make you sure for the safest way of changing the ROM in OMNIA i900 should follow closely (in case) the following steps.

Make sure you:

• Turned off any Firewall you have on the PC.
  
• Not running the update in Safe Mode.
  
• Not to perform any other work on your PC.
  
• Make sure the phone is fully charged (important)
  
• Do not update from a PC where you have limited rights. Eg. Internet Cafe, Work etc.
  
• Prefer Laptop as if you have electricity dropped you will have some extra battery and wont harm your phone.
  
• Use only one USB port for you Omnia update, the best one it works for you. Do not try multiple.
  
  1. Make the Install Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 (once)
     
  2. Make Install the Samsung Modem Driver XP (once)
     
  3. Reboot the PC.
     
  4. After the first 2 steps try to disconnect your Omnia from USB and connect it back on. Repeat it 1-2 times so the PC can recognize the phone.
     Leave the phone connected for about 10-15 minutes. If it disconnects by itself most probably you have to repeat the procedure from 1st step.
     It is advised to reboot your PC also.
     
  5. Make sure that have backup all your important stuff (contacts, pictures etc).
     
  6. Switch OFF the phone by holding the Power button for ~5 seconds.
     
  7. Run the updater. (Works the same way for Original or Cooked ROMs)
     
  8. Switch ON the phone again by holding the Power button.
     
  9. Press START and happy flashing. Do not move your phone or the USB wire as it might fail during flashing.
     
  10. Wait until the updater shows JOB DONE! DO NOT DISCONNECT BEFORE.
      
  11. Disconnect your phone.
      
  12. Leave the phone to reboot 2 times, calibrate screen and finish the start-up procedure.
      
  13. Enjoy the new firmware.

  Steps used for updating under VMWare for Windows Vista (32bit & 64bit) / Windows 7 (32bit & 64bit).

  The tutorial is taken from my friend shokka9. Thank you baw$

  If you don't know what VMware is, take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware for more information.

  Things you'll need on Vista:

  • VMware Workstation (latest will work)
    
  • Microsoft Windows XP CD or .ISO image and the serial key
    
  • 2gb of free disk space
    
    • Use the ones that mentioned for Windows XP.
      
    • Make sure you turn off the USB on the Windows Mobile Device Center.
      
      • Mobile Settings -> Connection Settings -> Untick "Allow USB Connections".
        
      • After flashing tick it back.
        

      Let's start:

      [*]First install VMware's Workstation. You can get a trial version at http://www.vmware.com/

      [*]If you have an .ISO image of your Windows XP CD on your hard disk like I do, you won't need the CD, otherwise you'll need it. If you don't have the image, put the CD into your CD/DVD-ROM.

      [*]Run the workstation.

      [*]Go to FILE -> NEW -> VIRTUAL MACHINE and choose TYPICAL. On the next tab select the source from where you want to install a virtual Windows XP operating system (CD or image).

      [*]On the next tab, press next. When the dialog appears, choose YES.

      [*]Now enter a name for your virtual XP machine and choose a location where you want to save the machine - it's good to have at least 2gb of free space!

      [*]On the nex tab, I've chosen 2.5gb. I think that's enough, if you wish only to flash your ROM. You can choose to install the machine to a single file or splitted. I've chosen single.

      [*]On the next tab, click Customize Hardware button and select "USB Controller". Make sure High-Speed USB 2.0 and Auto connect USB devices are checked. Press OK, then press FINISH.

      [*]Maybe you'll get a warning from VMware but don't bother, just skip it.

      [*]The Windows installation process should follow. The installation took on my PC for about 25min.

      [*]When the setup has finished, you can normally run and use Windows XP via WMware.

      [*]Update your XP machine via Windows Update, reboot and start flashing.

      Flashing:

  [*]Make the Install Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 (once)

  [*]Reboot the PC.

Im stuck at "PDA reboot to download Eboot twice!!!" im using the DXHK3 from here

Note that I havent Disconnected the Phone and the Update software still Running, I have a Black screen on the omnia and it says "Waiting for rebooting...." havent touch the Phone, or try to start it, after the first eboot download it didn't restart

Let me introduce my experimental version of ROM "First version" of WM 6.5 build 21895 based on XXJB3 from Omnia Lite B7300

Of course without Phone part.

- mouse

- issue with playing videos recorded by camera. Can by played in TCPMP player, in Touch player and Camera dont. (Conflict new and old lsomaclient) - every advice for resolving this issue are welcome

- used old Task switcher - i900 doesnt support hardware 3D.

Everything else is working fine:-)

For explanation - Settings application doesnt include "My storage", thats the reason why are addtional icon in start menu - Hard reset, Backlight (B7300 doesnt include light sensor), Motion sensor (and different motion sensor driver).

This ROM highly dependent on Manila2d Today Plugin, so make sure not to disable it and if it somehow disappear then just reapply it.. Also added script in Utilities folder to make it easy to adjust the indicators the way you like "i.e. 2 lines, or 1 line .. etc"

I cooked for myself the latest build that was out some weeks ago, so I decided to cook some roms for you too guys, to enjoy this latest build. The changes are not too many this time, the most important is the new build. Enjoy!

Changes since last versions:

- latest build 23153;

- included the .flac support for Nitrogen tha I provided here before this roms;

- modified the startup/shutdown animation; it's no longer oval shaped :) ;

- gave the roms a new sleek look by modifying the wallpapers and the default theme.

ROM DESCRIPTION:

First of all, this 2nd version follows the line of the 1st released version (details below), and that would be to revert as much I could to the original Windows Mobile Look (but with some improvements here and there) and thus to have some sort of Windows Mobile legacy, as it's getting to its end.

As usual, I cook 2 versions of my roms:

1. Normal version: a complete rom, for those who want to have a more functional rom, with everything needed included...

2. Lite version: it contains the same tweaks as the Normal version, but some apps were not cooked in, to let users install their favorite ones; so, remaining memory is bigger. I tried not to remove too much, like in the case of Ultra Lite roms (cooked by other chefs), because I wanted to leave the roms functional, and removing too much could have affected functionality.

!!! Apps marked in red (below) are not cooked in the Lite version.

- some icons changed;

- some cleaning and other minor things... ;)

Hi again!

After some time I decided to cook some 2 new roms, the initial idea was to cook some WinDroid roms with the files provided by ssi42 HERE, but I dealt with some problems: the dialer couldn’t make video calls anymore, the dialer’s landscape mode wasn’t skinned as an Android one (only portrait mode), the start menu landscape mode had also some problems... and these are the errors that I remember only... So, knowing myself as a perfectionist guy, I couldn’t release such roms.

So, afterwards, since I found out that some people over xda-developers (and not only) stated that there might not be newer builds out for Windows Mobile 6.5.x., an idea came through my mind to make some Windows Mobile roms as standard as they can be done... to remember Windows Mobile as it was, something like a Windows Mobile legacy. :D You get the idea. In the following lines you will find out the changes that have been made this time; for the roms general recipe (what they contain and what they don’t) I suggest you read the 21686 roms description (in the first version description).

For the changes made this time read below:

- changed startup/shutdown animation, sounds, wallpaper;

- edited shellres.96.dll so the Windows start icon from the toolbar will not appear white in some contexts (e.g.: when in today screen and Titanium or other today screen is not selected);

- imported customer.csc files and registry settings, so customer.csc is no longer needed;

- changed the start menu icons with the original Windows icons, so Windows can have the original look;

- also changed the Omnia specific settings icons with some Android style ones, since there weren’t no Windows Mobile style available and I couldn’t leave the old ones, because they were Windows 7 (desktop) style. But with this icons already cooked in one may design its Android style rom, for example, if he wants to;

- reverted to the original toolbar symbols when in start menu or under settings (I mean the back/forth arrows, ok sign, close, lock);

- changed the cooked in applications’ icons with some Android-ish ones.

- the wallpapers are now stwater....jpg instead of default_stwater....gif, for a better picture quality with no gradient lines;

- changed the semi-transparent start menu background image with a more transparent one;

- device restarts faster after XDA_UC finishes the applications installation process;

- added a Metro Nitrogen skin created by ock (many thanks for sharing) from HERE; edited it so now you have the elapsed/remaining time (under the album art, in the left and right); I also introduced some hidden buttons (under the both times) so in the left you have the EQ and in the right you have the Minimize button, for they were missing in the initial release; changed the artist/song font size and color, reversed their position; also changed the menus’/submenus’ icons, fonts and colors with the ones in the Iphone skin previously included in my roms; this Iphone skin is still present, but you’ll have to select it from menu if you preffer it;

- did some file cleaning, so a few more mb's are available, since last roms;

- did some registry cleaning;

- it might be something else too, but I don’t remember right now. :D

Hi guys again!

Here I am with some new roms, but this time I want to present to you a rom's brief description, since lots of things changed from a rom to another, and until now I wrote down only the changes.

I found it that it seemes easier for the person who comes to this thread and have a 1st look to know what these roms are about. :D

Note: I don't cook M2Dv2 roms, but for those of you who like a M2Dv2 rom, I added in the bottom of this post the complete M2Dv2 and customizer package plus a little guide, so you can install it yourself. :D So, this way everybody's happy!

- fixed the CW7 lockscreen; changed hour font and modified the hour/date position (to center);

- reverted to that Windows Phone scribble animation, but I edited it to remain only Windows writing and icon, without Phone, since I told you I kinda dislike the new OS;

- changed the welcome screen with the one in the first screenshot;

- readded poutlook.lnk in Startup, as I noticed some problems with Outlook since that.

- did some registry cleaning.

- also modified some installing paths for Smart Converter and TCPMP (renamed theme files from italian to english)

- some other things that cannot be seen but may be felt when using the phone. :D

As you noticed I decided not to cook M2Dv2 roms, but here's M2DV2 complete package and customizer, so you can install it by yourself.

Using XDA_UC to install programs automatically:

XDA UC is a brilliant way of installing all your usual cabs after a flash using mort script. The process is fully automatic and requires no user intervention (unless you want to install onto My storage/ Storage card). It will commence a few seconds after starting up and MUST NOT BE INTERRUPTED. Read more about it HERE.

This is how to do it:

1. Create a XDA_UC folder on the root of your storage card. In this folder, copy all the cabs you want to have installed onto the main memory.

2. If you want to install onto My Storage/ Storage card, then in the XDA_UC folder, create a folder called SD. In this folder, place all the cabs that want to install onto Storage card/ My Storage. You will have the option where to install them. Please note, if you install a cab that needs restarting after install (e.g Office), DO NOT restart, wait until everything’s installed and then restart manually (You will get a message when it’s all done).

If, for some reson the system hangs, just see what cab(s) causes that and move it into that SD folder that allows you to input your options.

- if you wanna get rid of those stripes when installing cabs or in certain menus, you have to go to Settings/Home and select between themes.
