MTP is not working on my device. What can be causing the issue? I am on Windows 10

now, when i go to bootloader mode i get the following:

i tried with

to repair it and get:

writing Recovery .... OKAY

but nothing changes, it i press - power volume down red

or power volume up red

any idea? a link what to do? i'm googling and cant find anything...

at the moment i have a 150,- brick next to me :D

Let me introduce cm9 for Pulse. This time it is our own build compiled from source.

Thanks to dtox125 for the first source compilation.

Requirements:

1. properly formatted SD card:

- ext2 partition (I use 512 MB). Rom won't work without it.

- swap partition 64 MB (not less)

2. /system partition not less than 110 MB. (Pulse u8220 users: prior installation of TRE or CHT8000 rom is required to achive such partition size).

Installation instructions:

- backup your current rom in case something go wrong;

- make FULL clean: "wipe data/factory reset" AND "format system";

- install Zip via CWM recovery. Reboot. Optionally install gapps.

Works:

- display,

- touchscreen,

- keypad,

- jogball,

- sound,

- radio (can reload sometimes),

- bluetooth,

- wifi,

- usb: mass storage, adb

For my Pulse rooting solution I thought i'd do something a bit different - introducing.... Superboot! :)

Superboot is a boot.img that when flashed, will root your device the first time you boot (installing su and the superuser APK). No need to flash the system partition, no need to use ADB, no messing with the contents of your data partition, no overwriting the shipped ROM on your device, just flash the boot image using the instructions below and you're done!

How to use Superboot - Windows, Linux and OSX

- Download the Superboot zip file from below and extract to a directory

- Put your device in bootloader mode - turn if off, then tap the powerbutton while holding the 'Volume Down' and 'End (Red)' keys

- WINDOWS - double click 'install-superboot-windows.bat'

- MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh' followed by './install-superboot-mac.sh'

- LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh' followed by './install-superboot-linux.sh'

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce everyone to J-MOD, my own variant of the Community Custom ROM r2a created by Flibblesan from these forums.

I got my first android device (T-Mobile Pulse) in May this year and have become a follower of the customisation scene for Android. Initially starting with Paul’s MCR 1.7 custom it wasn’t long before I began installing custom roms trying to get the best out of my device.

When Android 2.1 was released I immediately installed it and the decided to use FLB-MOD as this was, and still is, the most popular by far. After keeping up-to-date the progress been made to FLB-MOD and having to re-configure my phone after every update I began to think, what about creating a rom to your own liking to minimise the re-configuration after updating, this is when J-MOD was born.

The aim of J-MOD was to have a ROM customised to my owns, but after doing the work and realising how much I had learnt from these forums I thought I’d release it for anyone else to use.

I want to say thanks to Flibblesan for the work he did on the Community Custom ROM. Although J-MOD is not based on FLB-MOD, I have used little parts of FLB-MOD in J-MOD, so again thanks to Flibblesan for the work he is doing with FLB-MOD.

Please note: The ROM will always be using the Stock Android Launcher as default. You are welcome to install ADW or Launcher Pro from the Market if you so wish. If there is demand I may include additional updates to change the launcher to ADW or Launcher Pro.

Also, I am fairly new to creating custom roms so I am still learning stuff, if you come across an issue then do report it, but it may take a bit of time to implement the fix if I can.

This ROM is a work in progress. Whilst it is stable on my phone, I cannot gurantee that it will be stable for you.

Before I give details of the ROM, I want to give credit to the people who deserve it:

I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo Custom ROM for the T-Mobile Pulse! A 'wipe' is highly recommended it switching from the Standard ROM / T-Mobile style MCR ROM!

You can now create a customised ROM containing only the parts you required - see the second post in this topic for details!

This ROM is based on the ROM for the U8230 device, and is VERY vanilla Android, with few of the Pulse enhancements. Only install this ROM if you want a 'stock' Android experience. This is a 1.0 release and therefore may contain bugs - proceed with caution!

MCR now optionally includes Wavesecure in ROM, allowing you to lock / locate / wipe your device remotely in the event of loss and be notified if the SIM is changed. The application cannot be uninstalled by a thief and we are actively working with Wavesecure to ensure that in a forthcoming release, your settings will survive a hard reset!

This ROM is based on the release ROM for the Pulse (together with my own optimisations) for the best possible performance!

- Built with my new MCR build process which reduces size and boosts the speed of the ROM

- Includes the MoDaCo Custom Kernel, which adds automatic compcache, swap support, EXT3/4 support and much more!

- Fixed build.prop so you can correctly download protected apps

- A2SD included (fully automatic - thanks cyanogen!) - create a EXT2/3/4 (3 or 4 recommended) partition as your second partition to use. You must NOT have a swap partition on your SD, or it will refuse to mount.

ENSURE YOU DO A NANDROID BACKUP SO YOU CAN 'ROLL BACK' IF REQUIRED!

Please note that first boot may take a little while, especially if you have a lot of apps on your A2SD partition. Be patient! If you want a real clean start or you have issues with your existing A2SD installed apps when you boot, you need to wipe your EXT2 partition on SD too by executing 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app', 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app-private' and 'adb shell reboot' :(

Installing the December Update

To check if you already have the December Update - turn the device off, then turn if on with 'volume down' and 'end call' held. If the build date is Nov 26 2009 or newer, you have the December update applied.

If not... the December Update is a requirement for this ROM - use the instructions below to update.

• Download the update file
  
• Unzip the downloaded file to a location of your choice on your computer
  
• Copy the “dload” folder and all its contents to the root directory of your microSD card
  
• Insert the microSD card back into your device
  
• On your device select Settings -> SD card -> Phone Storage -> Upgrade
  
• The upgrade process will give you several warnings which you need to confirm to continue - then press the Upgrade option to begin the update
  
• As the update progresses you will see several screens along with a progress bar
  
• Once complete you will see a confirmation screen, and your Pulse will automatically restart
  

Installation

To install the MoDaCo Custom ROM on your Pulse...

- Download this custom ROM from the links above and copy it to your SD card

- Download the custom recovery image and install as detailed in that post. Stay in recovery mode.

- Select 'nandroid backup' from the menu to do a backup

- Select 'Flash zip from sdcard' and apply the main ROM

not working:wifi. gps? cam could work better ( have some green screen bug while launching and closing)

At this moment I have CM7/2.3.7 installed on my Pulse, and I would like to go back to the official 2.1. Meanwhile it is not that easy. Long time ago, I have used the so called Time Machine ROM successfully to downgrade my phone, but I am unable to find it again.

The link in the ultimate guide is 404ed, and the file in this topic does not work for me. But I remember there was an older one (maybe the 404ed link?) that worked fine. Is there anybody who still has this file, and could post it for me? (Or give some other advice to downgrade my phone).

This is a modified CyanogenMod 6.1 RC2 rom, originally ported for the U8220 by Tom G. The single installation file combines CyanogenMod, Gapps, and DT Apps2SD. (All apps included in the rom are available free on the Android Market.)

Changelog: See the end of the second post for the changelog.

Note: There are two versions of this rom: "TXG" is the basic rom, and "TXG-TW" is the same rom with Chinese IME support (including handwriting support). I intend to keep everything else about the roms the same. (That will mean that the TXG rom will have a bit smaller size compared to TXG-TW.) This rom is based on my "Basic CM6.1" rom, which was my first attempt at modifying Tom G's CyanogenMod 6.1.0 RC2 port. Tom did all the hard work; I'm just tweaking things and fixing a few bugs. Other people from these forums that are deserving of credit include Starkos, Antonio, Flibblesan, Toti, and a lot of other people from whom I "borrowed" code and good ideas. Thanks for the help you all provided. Also, the developers of the apps I chose to pre-install should be thanked for providing great free software.

Known problems/bugs: (I can't do any more to fix these bugs; you have to just live with them if you want to use this rom.)

• The front facing camera does not work.
• There are times when the GPS icon remains in the notification area after the GPS has been turned off. Ignore it, or reboot to remove it.
• The Camera app included in this rom has been modified by user Anegin and does not crash. However, with many third-party camera apps, attempting to take multiple pictures at 3mp resolution will crash the camera app and then cause a serious battery drain (until reboot). There are a few other camera apps available on the Market that can also be used, but I do not know which ones (reportedly the paid version of Vignette works).
• "Set MAC address" has been installed to solve the bug that reports an incorrect MAC address. Run it once to set your address, and the problem is solved.
• Some people have reported a bug in which the screen auto-rotation gets stuck. Suggested solutions are: (1) while booting, always hold the phone in portrait position until it is finished, and (2) disable 180 and 270 degree rotation in Settings/CyanogenMod settings/User interface (only allow 90 degree rotation).
  Pre-installation requirements. (This is important, so read all of this!) (For a more complete "how-to" on the points below please refer to The Ultimate Pulse Owners Guide.)
  • This ROM has been created for the Huawei U8220/U8230.
  • U8220/Pulse users who are installing the TXG rom must first update to the official UK 2.1 rom from back in 2010. (You can not use the UK 2011 update; the TRE rom and the CHT8000 rom will work as well; see below.)
  • U8220/Pulse users who are installing the TXG-TW rom must first flash the official TRE update, CHT8000 update, or Hungarian update. TXG-TW requires the /system partition to be larger than 100mb.
  • U8230 and U8220-6 users should not flash the official U8220 updates; install this rom over your original U8230 2.1 rom.
  • You must have Clockwork Recovery installed (not AmonRA) in order to install this rom. Incidentally, I'm using CW Recovery 2.5.0.7; apparently, CW Recovery v.3.0.0.5 does not work correctly. Later versions of CW Recovery might work, but I haven't tested any.
  • In order for DT Apps2SD and swap to work properly, you must format your SD card properly before you install this rom. (I have a 8gb class 10 card with 256mb ext2 partition for a2sd and a 32mb Linux swap partition; the rest is formatted to fat32.) However, the rom should work without doing that; you just won't have that added functionality.
