Anyway, I need some info what options do I have for this? Please note I'm new at Android. I backed up everything from the tab on my computer. Now what? I want to clean it all, to put it in Windows user terms, format and clean install.

I don't really want new Android OS if it causes too much trickery to get it working...basically I will upgrade only if it yields in obvious performance gains.

So some advices on how to do "format clean install" on this device, thanks :)

  Installation
  
  To install this ROM:
  • Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
  • Restart your device in recovery mode
  • PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
  • Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card - your device will auto convert to EXT4 on installation. You MUST have a microSD installed with enough space to back up your /data and /system partitions!
    
    
    You MUST select the 'wipe' version when installing this ROM UNLESS you are upgrading from a previous Beta or full release. If you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.

I ask because if I go ahead, not sure how it would work for me as I don't want to really have another sim, and swapping sims would do my head in, besides carrying two devices around but not sure if the Tab is impractical to use as a large phone besides a tablet (battery life and size come straight to mind).

How do I start a new forum for this device?

Its a cracking little tablet but has been totally overshadowed by the Nexus 7.

I was wondering if any of you have the same problem installing the image on a galaxt tab 10.1

I have tried several different images with success, overcome and XDA ICS install and work perfect but when I try the modaco rom it fails during install, just goes back to the CMR mainscreen. I have tried all versions, signed and unsigned but no joy.

Any input would be great

One of my friends has gotten his hands on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Google I/O edition.

Problem was it was password protected and the guy he recieved it from forgot to remove his password.

He has since attempted to remove the password aparently without success. He tells me he´s tried a combination of several guides and are now at a point where the only thing that will display on the Tablet is the Samsung Logo, he does however have access to the Tablet through ADB it is also visible through the rooting tool Odin.

Is there any hope of restoring the tablet? can anything be done through ADB?

Couldn't tell you when the last time I was able to turn it on, because I very rarely ever use it. Tried to google this error, but there is no results - can't seem to find any information on this error at all...

I am running Pauls rom, have been for months. No other real problems at all other than this...

ANyone have any suggestions? Any help greatly appreciated.

EDIT - Just for further info - this error appears at the bottom of the screen anytime you try to turn on Buletooth, either by the drop down status bar button or in the wireless and networks section of the settings menu.

Was wondering if the Samsung Galaxy Tab supported USB Host mode via any hacked method ? I've searched and not found anything.

Got a Galaxy Nexus, that's rooted, and I'm loving it.

Hubby's got a 10.1 tab, but i think it's too big, so i picked up a GT P1010 UK Wifi only tab.

So my first questions, is Samsung likely to release Honeycomb for this tab, or will it have to be a custom rom? And if so, I'm assuming that any further updates to Honeycomb would again be via custom roms, although for some reason they seem to be very thin on the ground.

I really want to install Titanium backup, and clockwork recovery, so i know i have to root the tab.

There seems to be a real lack of information on the best way to achieve this, I've read what i can find, but i'm sorry, i'm still struggling.

Given what i want to achieve above, which order and methods should i use?

So, as far as i can tell the first step is to root Tab --- which method do i use?

Then download rom manager and flash clockwork recovery onto my device

From there i can then update my phone using a zip file from the online kitchen.

In Short:Flash back froyo(with bootloaders), flash a froyo kernel with cwm, make sure all fs are ext4, then apply the zip and reboot.

Additional notes:

- You may occur in strange issues like red borders in windows but they are known HC sdk issues, easy to overcome, just search on google or take a look in this forum

Because of stupidness this was not really successful and my TAB didn't start after the flashing...

also pressing the power + volume down show's no effect.

the display turns on only when it's powered by the charger displaying 2 icons of a phone and a computer

I looked then through many forums and found at xda-developers patomas who had the problem.

Following solution worked:

1. wait until the TAB discharge (about 1 Day)

2. Start Odin and connect th tab to the computer

3. wait about 10 minutes, TAB connected to the computer

4. flash normal FW (I chose the XWJJ4)

What do we know?

Currently the only official roms are worldwide froyo 2.2.2 and EU gingerbread 2.3.6. The GB rom isnt out over the air everywhere yet so if your kies hasnt got the update and your feeling confident then you can pick up a copy from droidangel.blogspothttp://droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/...-original.html

With detailed instructions here http://droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/...e-samsung.html Read, reread and READ AGAIN. It isn't difficult to do as long as you follow the instructions carefully.

Noteworthy info on flashing:

7zip should be used to unrar the downloaded roms as there are issues with other archive managers, the password is samfirmware.com

If you have connection problems with Odin its most likely driver issues its best to uninstall all kies software and drivers, reboot, install latest kies and connect your device, wait for drivers to install and then reboot again,

If you decide you don't like the rom you can flash stock firmware over it to downgrade and continue to get kies updates.

Is it worth doing?

I have been using 2.3.6 now for a few days and have no issues with light to moderate use, I have noticed a better looking interface(just small cosmetic differences) much faster browsing, and my quadrant went from 750 to 1400, If you have had a different experience please post. This update unfortunately doesn't fix the video out problem or the issue with skype using the front facing camera. In my opinion it isn't an update to write home about but it is worth doing.

Can I install it on a different region of tab?<

There have been a few people who have successfully installed this rom on tabs from different regions so it is possible, If you have managed to do this please post your region and method As for trying to flash cross region, ask here and ill do my best to help. As far as I know there are issues with installing on the Korean version due to hardware differences, more on that here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1376440

Can gingerbread for the P1010 be rooted?

Personally I have tried Z4Root, Zergrush and SuperOneClick all of which cant get root yet, Skin1980 is however working on a cf-root kernel here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1386643 which will allow clockworkmod recovery, superuser(root) and busybox, Please note that at the current time if you flash skins cf-root you will have to reflash the entire firmware if you wish to rollback, This will do no harm as long as you read the forums and have an understanding of what your doing.

This is all the useful info I have managed to find so far, hopefully it can help anyone attempting to flash this long awaited upgrade,

Few things to note are that z4root and superoneclick cant root it yet, If you do require root there is a cf-root on xda for this rom and finally Im not sure when this will be installable through kies, I havent tried TBH so it might already be up.

I have a new GT 7 wifi only, and I'm looking for instructions on how to put HC on it. Biggest stumbling block has been getting some help with CWM. Anyone here any good with that? When I Flash ClockworkMod Recovery on my device, the options I get are "Galaxy S I9000" or "GalaxyS I9000 (MTD)". Neither seems right. This is CWM 2.5.1.2, btw.

I just bought my galaxy tab yesterday and it really is nice! however, i don't want to insert a sim card with another contract on it just to go online from time to time when i don't have a wifi connection near me.

I have a nexus one with the desire rom installed which is my primary phone and it has a unlimited data and voice plan on it. i know i could start wifi tethering and allow my galaxy tab to use this connection, but this means, that i have to start wifi tether whenever i want to go online with my galaxy tab. it would be much more conveniant if i could enable bluetooth on my phone and then connect with my galaxy tab through a bluetooth DUN or PAN connection. this way i don't need to touch my phone and my galaxy tab is always online as soon as i am near it.

is this somehow possible? ( i think the ipad does exactly that to go online if you don't have a sim card inserted)
