Hi All, I have spent hours trying to fix my problem on my own but unable to get anywhere despite reading many threads. I tried to root my phone and install the cyanogenmod ROM. The rooting worked but them the cyanogenmod mod failed “signature verification” and my phone bricked.

I have access to ODIN and it recognises my phone.

S2Root.exe also works

My phone also goes into recovery mode

But the Custom ROM on the SD Card is “perhaps” corrupt because it keeps failing on “signature verification”

I have downloaded another custom ROM but how do I either using ODIN or transfer the .zip over to my phone to flash using recovery.

My options for recovery are as follows:

Transfer another Custom ROM to my phone and then just apply it using Recover? HOW do I transfer it to my phone?

Convert an existing Custom ROM into a zimage and then tar ball it? How do I do that? Can I then apply it to my phone using ODIN?

OR some other way of recovering the phone?

Any simple and easy to recover my phone which is not booting will be appreciated.

My phone is obviously recognised under device manager so do I need adb shell to transfer files to it? How I get adb shell to work? Because I keep getting "device not found" when I try to run adb shell. Does the phone have to be in a specific mode to run? I have even tried to put the phone into "download" mode and then tried to run adb shell and I get the same problem!

I have even tried to insert a Micro SD card with a ROM on it and recovery never gives me an option to read that?

Thanks

Hi,

Is there a simple method these days ? (last time I rooted, it was the original Blade !)

Had the official update a while now, and on the whole I'm happy with the look etc... but im missing the power of a root.

More and more software requires root.. so here we go !

Please can you suggest a ROM and "how to" ?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100), which stopped booting into the normal OS. I have no idea why - one morning it turned itself off, and when I started it, it went as far as the "Samsung" screen, and just hangs.

I have pictures on the "internal" SD card (flash memory), which I would like to recover.

I can boot into recovery, and have installed the latest version of CWM touch, which allows me to mount both the internal and external sdcard. I can do a "browse for update" on both internal and external sdcard, and all the files I want are there. However, even when internal sdcard is mounted, I cannot access it with adb, presumably because I don't have root.

Just to see what I can do without root, I used CWM allowed me to backup the system, but because the backup is written to the internal card, I cannot check whether it's worked. However, it is taking about 1.5GB of space on the internal card, so I assume it must have backed up something.

Any ideas? Could I write a script that would copy the contents of the internal sd card to the external sd card, without root?

If I rooted the phone, would I loose the content on the internal sd card? (I have looked into rooting, but only with heimdall so far, and I could not get it to recognise the phone on linux or OS X.)

Any thoughts and suggestions will be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hey,

I have problem with my 9100i. I flashed CWM kitkat compatible recovery and C-ROM Mix 7.1. After that I flashed that kernel

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/development-derivatives/kernel-kernel-aosp-roms-stweaks-synapse-t2222843

When I turn on my phone after install I have no mobile signal, I am unable to connect mobile service, I have no IMEI number, I have no baseband. I searched for solution, and installed Galaxy S Unlock app and GSll Repair app. Then I did every step, after reboot I don't have signal, I repeated all steps and after reboot I have normal signal... After next reboot I have not mobile signal again. It's strange, I must repeat steps after every reboot? Or there is any method with which I would be able to fix it forever? I add that factory reset didn't helped....

My samsung galaxy s2 has some inconvenience issues to be solved. Since last month ago it begin warning high voltage when charging the turn-on phone. Then it would stop the charging the battery . It can be charged only if I turned off the phone and turned it on when it says 100%.

Not sure whether was the battery go wrong and its battery life already very crappy, and the things even worse when the phone was upgraded( it drained a lot as constantly searching for 4G). In fact a few weeks before, I asked help from friends borrowed his MPJ spare battery for this battery issue. His replacement battery was better but why Sprint and Samsung know this is the major complaint but still have failed to correct ever…

I also have been to store but nothing is solved unless to pay to have it back to repair. then I have to begin purchased extended batteries(one even have much higher capacity at amazing 5000mAh) and chargers followed with the friend who helped me so that i keep several charged and ready to change out as needed.

did anyone else encounter this problem before?

KIES is also set for auto-download of latest firmware,

Hello i just got a samsung galaxy s2 I9100P yesterday, i updated over Kies last night as it said there was a new update, so i went from gingerbread to what i believe is ics. My phone now says:

Model Number: I9100P

Android Version: 4.0.3

Baseband Version I9100PXXXLPC

Kernal Version: 3.0.15-I9100PXXLPH-CL378510dpi@DELL128#3

Build Number: IML74K.XXLPH

Anyway i found this page, http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1103399

then downloaded this CF Version http://download.chai...H-v5.2-CWM5.zip

i downloaded Odin3 v3.07 as well, when i downloaded the zip file it had a "zImage" file in it, (not a tar file), anyway i went to odin done all the steps but had the add the whole zip file in the PDA option as it wasnt noticing the "zImage" file on my desktop, i connected the phone in download mode but the file never appeared saying port at the top of odin, what i would like to know is do i need to rename the zimage file in the zip file to tar? and am i using the correct version of CF root to get root o my phone?

Hope someone can point me in the right direction :)

I'm not sure if it's just me or it's common on other phones so I thought I'd post here...

My S2's current firmware is "PDA:KF4 / PHONE:KF2 / CSC:KF1 (H3G)" and KIES is offering me the latest version, but I'm waiting for ICS to be released as I can't be bothered to re-install all apps, etc. :)

Until it's relased, I need to troubleshoot my exisitng issue... often I would find I will "lose" 3G data - can't sync my emails, can't connect to webpages, etc, even that the "H" and also "H+" logo comes up (with full bars), there will be no data activity. If I enable the Flight Mode then turn it off, it works again.

Until the point where I go from one location to another location, i.e. driving or walking to the city, it lose data access again.

I am with Three network and I don't think it's their network (otherwise we'd see widespread reports about it) so it must be my phone/firmware/ROM.

Is anyone seeing the same issue as me? Or it's just me? :)

So info on this is spread all over the net and I can't get a good answer.

I have the white SGS2 model the one with "P" on the end of the model number.

It seems this model is a real pain to do anything with as it soft-bricks a lot, even putting clockwork on it soft-bricked it and i had to follow a guide to unbrick it with another recovery rom.

I just want to get rid of all the junk samsung puts on it.

Hello there people of Modaco,

I was just wondering if there was a safe way to root a Samsung Galaxy SII, and if there is, please could you post a thread/instructions on how it is done. I am based in the UK & I have a black SII:

If so can I use the version on my OSD or is the Arm version different to the Intel one?

Well, I've been running CyanogenMod on my GalaxyS2 for quite some time now, through the various iterations. Until yesterday it was running CyanogenMod v10 with nightly auto-update. I really liked the look and feel of CM10 ... BUT ... It didn't play nicely with my car bluetooth stereo for audio streaming, and didn't support HDMI out. Neither were a major dealbreaker, but minor niggles.

Anyway, yesterday I took the plunge and took a nandroid backup of my handset, and installed the leaked Samsung Jelly Bean rom for the Galaxy S2 via MobileOdin. MobileOdin allowed me to flash new ROM and root the device at the same time.

I have to say, that as much as TouchWiz really used to annoy me, Samsung have done a fantastic job with this rom. It's smooth, well thought out and seems to flow rather well.

I was delighted to find that Bluetooth streaming is now working perfectly in the car, along with displaying Album and Track details on the cars head unit. The HDMI out is also working brilliantly.

Don't get me wrong, it's still not finished, and there are some niggles ... such as the odd momentary lockup. But other than that, I'll be using it as a daily-driver for the forseeable future (or until I get a Nexus 4!).

Anyone else tried it?
