Superboot is a boot.img that when booted, will root your device the first time you boot (installing su and the superuser APK). No need to flash any partitions, no need to mess around with ADB, no messing with the contents of your data partition, no overwriting the shipped ROM on your device, just boot the boot image using the instructions below and you're done!

How to use Superboot - Windows, Linux and OSX

- Download the Superboot zip file above and extract to a directory

- Put your device in bootloader mode - Turn off the phone then turn on with the 'volume up' and 'volume down' buttons both pressed to enter the bootloader (as pictured below)

- WINDOWS - double click 'superboot-windows.bat'

- MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x superboot-mac.sh' followed by './superboot-mac.sh'

Note: If you are using a retail device, you may need to unlock the bootloader first, using './fastboot-windows oem unlock' (or the appropriate version for your machine, included in this zip). Note that the OEM unlock sequence wipes your device, so consider doing an 'adb backup' beforehand if required!

If you have already done this then that's really cool.... you can directly procedd for the ROM flashing or else you need to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery first.

For the CyanogenMod 12.1 ROM flashing on your Galaxy Nexus; you need to have the following files:

- CM 12.1 ROM zip file

- CM 12.1 Google Apps

Consider taking a nandroid backup of your OLD ROM before installing this new ROM. [RECOMMENDED]

- Copy the ROM and GApps package to your phone.

- Enter into the custom recovery.
- Do a Factory Reset/Wipe Data and Cache partition [RECOMMENDED]

I am coming from ZTE Blade and Dell Streak 5. Both had Android 2.3 on them, both had Custom ROMs, but these were modded stock ROMs.

I made the experience that modded stock roms are working better than CM Roms. CM7 in that case.

Can you tell me if this is still true for the Nexus?

Would a modded stock rom fit my needs and still be better than a CM?

I had to use VPNC Widget, because I could not connect to my Universitys Wireless Lan.

I have been trying since Saturday to get my newly purchased Galaxy Nexus unlocked :'(

I bought it from eBay and it is locked to o2.

I did some googling and found samsungimeiunlock.com. I paid them for an unlock code that was promised from between 15 mins - 6hours on Saturday afternoon.

It is now Tues morning and still have no code and they keep telling me that everyone will have the same problem giving me an unlock code as it's Chinese New Year..

Does anyone know anything about that? or can anyone confirm they have used someone else successfully.

As i'm sure you can imagine it's sooo frustrating having this baby lying around all weekend and now for 2 days and not being able to get my sim working.

has anyone else come across this and anyone got a solution? google says no but heres hoping anyway.

I have a Galaxy Nexus and I also have a dual SIM adapter (Magic Sim 28th generation) which I wan't to use on my Galaxy Nexus.

But it's not working properly... It only works once, after switching card the first time the STK menu disappears.

Sometimes doesn't work at the first time, others it works but the phone stays with the APN from the first card making impossible to use internet.

I have stock 4.2.1.

Anyone experiencing problems?

For those of you that didn't or can't bake it in I've provided an updated version for Ir8 below...

Simple Install

1. Download the appropriate file below
2. Boot to recovery
3. Please make a nandroid backup!!
4. Flash the file you downloaded above
5. Reboot and enjoy!

• Any MoDaCo ROM prior to Ir8 - MCREnhancedPowerMenu-v1.zip
• Specifically for Ir8 - MCREnhancedPowerMenu-Ir8.zip

Note that the first time you reboot your system may "Upgrade" - let that finish and it won't happen again.

This update zip replaces critical system files. A bad flash will result in a phone that does not boot. Please make a nandroid backup first!

The card has been added via my Wallet Account (not the app), when I open the app for the first time on the GNex (i.e afer clearing data) I have the option to add it. The app just seems to hang at "adding" then eventually fails.

This occurs on both 3G and WIFI and multiple attempts since last Thursday have been made - all fail the same.

Using JR9 with the patched wallet option checked. No un-install of existing wallet app (which was stock from JR8(?)) before flashing JR9.

will a factory wipe fix this from happening? its a pain to set everything back up and im afraid if i have a titanium back up file it wont delete the extra locations.

suggestions please. if you have fixed this problem id love to hear it as its driving me mad.

I've stupidly installed Jr9 today on my Galaxy Nexus which is for Nexus 7 and not the Nexus.

As a result my phone won't boot up (I can get to bootloader).

I don't have the Jr8 on my sdcard so can't revert back to it.

Any ideas whther this can be fixed and how?

After using Audio galaxy on my nexus and streaming straight from my laptop for months I've finally began to get awesome feelings about the release :D

Being able to stream straight from the cloud with all your own music without having to pay a single bean just makes Google that little bit more epic!
