Introducing.... Superboot! :)

Superboot is a boot.img that when booted, will root your device the first time you boot (installing su and the superuser APK). No need to flash any partitions, no need to mess around with ADB, no messing with the contents of your data partition, no overwriting the shipped ROM on your device, just boot the boot image using the instructions below and you're done!

APPLY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Superboot r5 - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid) - MD5: 510c4a0c5a62407550abc5e028c6fd82

How to use Superboot - Windows, Linux and OSX

- Download the Superboot zip file above and extract to a directory

- Put your device in bootloader mode - Turn off the phone then turn on with the 'volume up' and 'volume down' buttons both pressed to enter the bootloader (as pictured below)

- WINDOWS - double click 'superboot-windows.bat'

- MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x superboot-mac.sh' followed by './superboot-mac.sh'

- LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x superboot-linux.sh' followed by './superboot-linux.sh'

Note: If you are using a retail device, you may need to unlock the bootloader first, using './fastboot-windows oem unlock' (or the appropriate version for your machine, included in this zip). Note that the OEM unlock sequence wipes your device, so consider doing an 'adb backup' beforehand if required!

Enjoy! :)

Annoyed with the volume bug on your Galaxy Nexus? Well, i'm very proud to present the forthcoming official fixed boot image which resolves this problem. In order to flash this boot image, you need your bootloader to be unlocked at this time (use './fastboot-windows oem unlock' (or the appropriate version for your machine, included in the download). Note that the OEM unlock sequence wipes your device.

Hi folks. I purchased the extended battery for my GNex (2000mAh official samsung) and after changing it and charging my battery app (DU battery) is still showing 1750mAh capacity after full 100% charge. I run stock 4.3 JB. Any ideas? Should I just igone it or does my phone think I still have the old battery in and can't charge it up to it's full 2000mAh?

Hello. I've installed stock 4.3 in my Galaxy Nexus. When I open Flipboard or Chrome, when I close it, the Launcher (stock) gets resetted. I can only see the icon which opens the apps drawer and a few seconds later, I get my shortcuts and widgets. Does it happen to you?

I have reinstalled using Galaxy Nexus Toolkit 4.3 but it happened again. I updated to 4.3 released on August but it just kept happening. S.O.S!

I'm on the latest iteration of the MCR, but keep getting the notification to update to 4.3. This fails, so just serves to annoy me, so what's the best way to get onto 4.3? I don't want to dump MCR, but no word from Paul as to an ETA for an update.

I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo Custom Jelly Bean ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Neuxs! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know. ;)

About MoDaCo Custom ROMs

MoDaCo Custom ROMs are based on official ROMs. A MCR release is designed to feel like a stock ROM with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience. The aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device.

Requirements

In order to use this ROM you must have a custom recovery installed. The ROM is installed at your own risk. A wipe IS recommended if coming from a ROM other than MCR or stock. BACK UP YOUR DEVICE BEFORE INSTALLATION!

MCR Nexus ROM features Include... (many optional via the Online Kitchen) - check kitchen defaults for what is in the prebake:

Based on the 4.2.2 / JDQ39 release, updated, rebuilt, compressed and optimised with the MCR build system.

For this MCR we've used the latest available shipping ROM, updated with all the latest versions of the installed apps, which we've run through our scripts to ensure that it is as optimised as possible both for install / download size and real life performance.

De-odexed... re-odexable.

Our ROMs are de-odedex, giving you the ability to flash other mods over the top, tweak the system and generally get the system set up as you want it without worrying about odex issues. We also include the 'OdexMe' application, which lets you odex your system when you're ready, saving valuable space on your data partition.

Pre-rooted

All MCR ROMs are pre-rooted with SuperSU preinstalled. In addition, the kitchen allows you to choose between secure, insecure and secure with patched ADB boot images.

Enhanced Quick Settings

The quick settings in Android 4.2 are cool, but limited. MCR builds include a customised version of the excellent 'Quick Settings' mod by kevdlui, allowing you to customise your toggles by holding the Settings button down. The WiFi and Bluetooth buttons are also changed to toggles - long press to access the settings menus.

Enhanced Power Menu

The enhanced power menu (the one that appears when you hold down the power button) has additional options to allow you to reboot and reboot to recovery.

Apps aren't disabled on boot

Jelly Bean added a feature to disable apps on boot that aren't intended for your region (Wallet, Ears, Magazines etc.). I think we're smart enough to make that decision ourselves right? So that doesn't happen in a MCR.

Legacy Play Store

Isn't it frustrating how Google removed the ability in the Play Store to see which apps you'd bought in a nice simple list? I thought so... so I created 'Legacy Play Store', which has this feature.

Legacy browser and Flash

Google might be ditching the stock browser for Chrome and Adobe might have canned Flash, but we still need to use it sometimes... so it's included in a MCR.

Patched Google Wallet

We've patched Google Wallet to remove all region and root checks, so you can have a play!

Facebook sync support

Google removed all support for syncing contact information via the Facebook app, we put it back. It's basic support (an app like HaxSync is more fully featured) but hey, it works!

init.d support on boot

The init.d directory is processed on boot, allowing our (and your) startup script to be processed before the system starts up.

Alternative appstores (Amazon and SlideMe Market)

The Amazon and SlideMe stores can be preinstalled, if that's where you like to purchased your wares.

'TweakDeck' - Tweetdeck, fixed

Tweetdeck was great. Twitter ruined it. It's fairly comprehensively broken on Android, but we've fixed it with TweakDeck.

Titanium Backup preinstalled

Once you've flashed your ROM, if you've wiped you want to get your stuff back on as quickly as possible - the option to preinstall Titanium Backup is here to help!

MoDaCo Boot Logo

Wear your MCR with pride with the MoDaCo boot logo. It can be disabled in the kitchen of course if you prefer the more subtle look.

[*]And there's more!

We haven't listed everything here because a) there's too much and B) there's things we've forgotten. :)

MCR Galaxy Nexus ROM specific features Include... (many optional via the Online Kitchen) - check kitchen defaults for what is in the prebake:

[*]Trackball Alert Pro compatibility for custom notification LED colours

Trackball Alert by lilHermit lets you choose custom notification LED colours for ANY app, with no impact on battery life. We work closely with lilHermit to ensure TBA is supported in MCR.

[*]Alternative UI options (clickable when hidden menu keys with alternate locations, search button)

A number of different UI options are included - the default option makes the legacy menu button available on both sides of the screen for easy reach and also keeps them active when invisible, handy if there's a pesky menu button at the top right that you can't quite get too! You can also bring back the good old search button. Percentage battery meters are also included in stock style and round style.

[*]NFC on screen off

If you use NFC tags to set profiles or similar, then the option to enable NFC on screen off might appeal to you. Be aware that we haven't benchmarked the impact this may have on battery life as yet though!

[*]Toggle2G support

This ROM is compatible with Toggle2G by TheMasterBaron, which allows you to auto toggle 2G / 3G states. Following on from my earlier 'left hand' patch, I now have a full set of UI patches for the Galaxy Nexus. These patches change the behaviour of the legacy menu button. Options are:

Here is the both sides with search button version in operation...

I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo CyanogenMod Custom Jelly Bean ROM for the Galaxy Nexus! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know. ;)

About MoDaCo CyanogenMod Custom ROMs

MoDaCo CyanogenMod Custom ROMs are based on CyanogenMod nightly ROMs. While a MCR release is designed to feel like a stock ROM with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience and the aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device, a MoDaCo CyanogenMod Custom ROM blends the great tweaks and features of CyanogenMod with the goodness of a MCR to hopefully create a 'best of both worlds'.

Requirements

In order to use this ROM you must have a custom recovery installed. The ROM is installed at your own risk. A wipe IS recommended if coming from a ROM other than MCR or stock. BACK UP YOUR DEVICE BEFORE INSTALLATION!

MCMCR Nexus ROM features Include... (many optional via the Online Kitchen) - check kitchen defaults for what is in the prebake:

Based on CyanogenMod 10.1 nightlies (the aim is to update the ROM every Friday), updated, rebuilt, compressed and optimised with the MCR build system.

For this MCR we've compiled a CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly build, updated with all the latest versions of the installed apps, which we've run through our scripts to ensure that it is as optimised as possible both for install / download size and real life performance.

Alternative appstores (Amazon and SlideMe Market)

The Amazon and SlideMe stores can be preinstalled, if that's where you like to purchased your wares.

And there's more!

We haven't listed everything here because a) there's too much and B) there's things we've forgotten. :)

Hi.

I will get my i9250 soon, could you tell me which would be the "best" Custom ROM for me?

Things I need in the kernel:

2-way-call recording

VPN capability, I was using VPNC Widget because of Cisco VPN at my University.

ROM needs:

fast and snappy

no force closes

no OC

good Battery useage

I am coming from ZTE Blade and Dell Streak 5. Both had Android 2.3 on them, both had Custom ROMs, but these were modded stock ROMs.

I made the experience that modded stock roms are working better than CM Roms. CM7 in that case.

Can you tell me if this is still true for the Nexus?

Would a modded stock rom fit my needs and still be better than a CM?

I had to use VPNC Widget, because I could not connect to my Universitys Wireless Lan.

Could you tell me if Android 4 is capable of connecting to a Cisco VPN without using VPNC Widget?

Thanks in Advance

Hey all,

I have been trying since Saturday to get my newly purchased Galaxy Nexus unlocked :'(

I bought it from eBay and it is locked to o2.

I did some googling and found samsungimeiunlock.com. I paid them for an unlock code that was promised from between 15 mins - 6hours on Saturday afternoon.

It is now Tues morning and still have no code and they keep telling me that everyone will have the same problem giving me an unlock code as it's Chinese New Year..

Does anyone know anything about that? or can anyone confirm they have used someone else successfully.

As i'm sure you can imagine it's sooo frustrating having this baby lying around all weekend and now for 2 days and not being able to get my sim working.

Thanks for your time and help all :)

Hi,

I have a Galaxy Nexus and I also have a dual SIM adapter (Magic Sim 28th generation) which I wan't to use on my Galaxy Nexus.

But it's not working properly... It only works once, after switching card the first time the STK menu disappears.

Sometimes doesn't work at the first time, others it works but the phone stays with the APN from the first card making impossible to use internet.

I have stock 4.2.1.

Anyone experiencing problems?

Thanks!

Posting this here as I can add a credit card (mastercard) fine in Google Wallet on the Nexus 7, but it continually fails on the GNex.

The card has been added via my Wallet Account (not the app), when I open the app for the first time on the GNex (i.e afer clearing data) I have the option to add it. The app just seems to hang at "adding" then eventually fails.

This occurs on both 3G and WIFI and multiple attempts since last Thursday have been made - all fail the same.

Using JR9 with the patched wallet option checked. No un-install of existing wallet app (which was stock from JR8(?)) before flashing JR9.

Trying to add a Mastercard.

Network is o2 UK (if that makes a difference) running stock kernel

Cheers!

i have been using 4.2 for a while now and its a pain. it seems to be storing everything is 3 or 4 locations andi want to know how to fix that? since ive now managed to delete things in one location it appears to have deleted things in all the other locations too.

will a factory wipe fix this from happening? its a pain to set everything back up and im afraid if i have a titanium back up file it wont delete the extra locations.

Any ideas whther this can be fixed and how?

I for one am very very excited!

After using Audio galaxy on my nexus and streaming straight from my laptop for months I've finally began to get awesome feelings about the release :D

Being able to stream straight from the cloud with all your own music without having to pay a single bean just makes Google that little bit more epic!

Heres to you google...
