hi all,

I recently bought a zte grand x here in the UK from virgin media, running GEN_UK_GRANDXV1.0.0BO2 firmware. Does anyone know where i can find an update?

I've used the "software update" app but thats useless and just searches for updates without results. I also tried the ZTE updater program for windows (connected to phone via USB) and it updated me to the same version or atleast it shows the same number and i dont notice any changes.

Also, anybody got any info on when the Jelly bean update will come to european or UK handsets?

regards,

This is a flashable zip i have made from my stock ICS system with which my GRAND X came.

You can use it as an backup rom if you software brick our original system.

I have made this rom for two reasons, because I have flashed original rom from zte.ru and i missed some of the features which wasn't included in it and to have a backup of my original stock rom.

Advantage of this is that I can share it with you and I will give a try to improve it with including some useful tweaks, but this is for further work.

Hey guys!

I have a ZTE Grand X V970 aka TMN Smart A18 in Portugal (Mediatek processor), and the power button has stopped working after having it in my car, bumping from one side to the other on curves.

I've been ussing the Tap Tap App to unlock the screen which is fine so far. But the problem is I have a poor Rom installed with it, and can't event get a GPS signal.

I have tried to flash Carliv Recovery with MobileUncle Tools so I can install another Rom without having to use the Power Button, but once it boots into recovery after ZTE logo shows up, phone turns off.

Tried many times t get into Recovery, but it just won't do it.

I gotta say as well that I have recently flashed this last Rom using the Android definitions options, and not through the Recovery. I think that can be the problem.

Phone also does not install APK's from sdcard, I can only install apps from Play Store. I have all the checks on Mock Locations, USB debbuging, and so on. Even on Google Definitions app I uncheck "verify apps", that worked last time with the Rom and specific problem.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks from Portugal :)

My ZTE Grand X is currently stuck in a boot loop. It manages to boot past the ZTE splash screen and the android robot symbol and gets to the OS proper. However, within moments of loading up, it will reboot for no apparent reason even if I do not touch the screen whatsoever. This will continue on and on rebooting and loading to the OS unless I pull the battery. I suspect that it could be a corrupt app or something that is causing this and I wanted to perform a factory reset and data wipe but was unable to do so successfully. I cannot initiate a factory reset from the OS as I do not have sufficient time in it to activate the factory reset option. USB debugging is not activated, and the phone does not appear to have root.

I have tried all sorts of ways to flash an alternative rom in the hopes that the data partition will be wiped out in the process and a fresh system installed. Clockworkmod recovery is not installed, and the phone is not rooted and because of this reboot loop, there is hardly a way for me to make use of normal tools to install CWM recovery or root the phone because the phone reboots all the time. I can get adb to reboot into stock recovery 3e, where I tried the wipe data/factory reset option there. It appears to have been completed successfully but when I select reboot system now, and the phone boots up, all of the user data remains. I have tried using ADB to wipe data and it mentions that I do not have authorization possibly because the phone is not rooted.

I have also tried the recovery utility from ZTE UK's website to recover the phone. I do not mind losing all my data on this phone, but the key combination suggestion (vol-down + power) did not bring the phone into the required FTM mode. It does reflect on the computer as Nvidia usb mode and drivers were successfully installed when vol-down and power buttons were pressed together.

At this time, the phone is still in the boot loop for whatever reason and I cannot recover it unless I can wipe the data partition (which I suspect is the problem but I cannot be sure anyhow). ADB cannot wipe the data, neither can the stock recovery. I cannot root the phone nor install clockwordmod recovery because of the boot loop present. Can anyone help me out here? With either a signed zip file that can be installed via stock recovery that would also wipe all data on the phone and install it completely fresh? Or does anyone have any other way to wipe the data partition and I could give that a shot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, this phone is a sad brick. Please help me. Thanks in advance! My phone is the ZTE Grand X with Tegra2 and Single Sim.

My ZTE Grand X was fully bricked sometime in July as it froze and i removed the battery and it would not turn on again. I plugged it into the computer and it was recognized as APX and no notifications lights on the phone were working so i had to go back to using my Nokia e63. Last week i called virgin mobile up (I know i waited a long time!) and they sent me the package in which i would send the phone back to them in and they got it the next day. I got called a few days ago saying they had to replace a part and the phone now works and i got a email today saying it will arrived tommorow via DPD :D. Don't know if anyone knows how i can prevent this from happening again but if you do please let me know.

Hello, so I will explain what happened:

Yesterday I wanted to unlock my phone by just pressing the power button so the screen would light up, but it didn't, so I pressed another few times rapidly, after that the screen lit up but then 2 seconds after that my phone turned off .... I couldn't turn it back on.

I connected my phone to my PC to see if it would still recognize it, and it did ... but now as "APX", the screen doesn't light up neither does the LED when connected to the PC.

I tried to charge it the whole day, thought it might do something ... NOT, it still doesn't turn on !

Could you geniouses please help me "revive" my ZTE Grand X (single sim) :) ? I really love the phone ...

Or is it hard bricked :( ? ...

Thank you in advance !

Hello all, been looking at this phone as I think its time I upgraded from the trusty ZTE Blade, but the few user reviews I can find (mostly on virgin site) seem to slate it?? Most of them report having multiple replacements (3 or 4) and them all having issues with crashing and not being able to end calls etc.

So I thought I would ask users here how they have been getting on with it? Is it just a case of a few people with bad phones have bothered to write about it?

The phone seems great apart from that im quite tempted otherwise, it really is a shame if true :(

Hello MoDaCo Forum!

Couple of weeks ago I bought Grand X (tegra2) in switzerland (the name is here: My Surf Pure, or Mimosa X)

I succesfully rooted my device, and successfully installed CWM recovery with Grand X tool.

The first thing in the CWM I made a backup, and full wipe, (system, data, zteconfig, cache, dalvik cache) after that i tired couple of ROM-s, ie: StarscreamMOD 1.7, ZTE V970V1.0.0 B05 (RU) etc.

But when I try to going back my stock ROM the first thing what I realised, CWM tell me, the MD5 sum mismatch.

I solved this problem, I generated md5, but when I tired to restore my backup, the CWM tell me, cannot restore data, .android.secure, and sd-ext.

After that I wipe everything (system, data, zteconfig, cache, dalvik cache), I choose the advanced restore --> system, it will be successfull, but not perfect, because my bootlogo missing, and bootsound also missing, and when I go to the About phone --> baseband version: Unaviable, Build number --> Unaviable.

I tired to check my build.prop, it is contains my original (stock) details, but in the /zteconfig -->manualfactoryInfo.txt the last part contain my original build number and my last ROM build number also. (P943FV1.0.0B07ZTE V970V1.0.0B05.7) Maybe this cause the unaviable thing in the about phone option...

I tired to delete the last part, but with every reboot, came back...

So my question, can I restore my phone to the stock properly, if I need warranty repair?

Or anybody have switzerland SD card update, it would be best!

I would be thankful for any help

Thanks
