Hi all...hope someone can help with this...it's drving me crazy and I'm running out of time.

I have two HTC Touches (old and new) and I also have Sprite Backup. I used Sprite to copy everything over (including the 'Email' option), and all the SMS messages came with. Problem was the 5 other email accounts got completely messed up. 3 of the 5 don't show, and when I try to add them it says they alreay exist...plus the today screen still says 2 unread, but I can't get to whatever account has them.

I reset the new Touch, and ran Sprite without email...everything looks good, but no SMS messages. I can add the email accounts fine, but is there something else (free) that will allow me to transfer over the SMS messages (about 2k+ of them), but nothing else?

If there is no program to do it, does anyone know if I can connect the old one to a PC...find the actual files somewhere, copy them to the PC, then transfer them to the new Touch in the smae location to have them sho wup?

Sorry for the novel...and sorry iof I posted in the wrong place! I have to return the old phone soon so as not to be charged, so any help thats quick is MUCH appreciated!

Though BB10 launched for quite long time, I just got one last month and this is the second BlackBerry I reached ( my friend owned a BlackBerry Z10) . Here is my personal feelings of BB10 focusing on its battery life during a month of usage, but probably most users are quite up on it already...

My BB10 has been updated will result in a longer battery life, but for heavy users like me. Coming from the previous note2, it can no provide enough power. Sometimes i unplugged at morning 7 a.m. and can hardly last till 6 p.m, only some calls and browsing. It last 6-8 hours on average with OEM battery, but over 10 hours per day with the MPJ 2750mAh extended battery I got from my friend.

I have tired some apps like Battery Guru, and lower setting, but not particularly pleased to the result, especially some apps doesn't seem to detect when the battery is being charged.

Like most my previous cell phones, I have spend the better part of each day looking for a place to plug it in and top up the charge until the friend owned Z10 gave his spare MPJ replacement battery to me. I never had a car charger and never needed one, just believe they are not good for mobile phone…so I purchased a corresponding MPJ charger myself.

To sum up my feeling, it is a great BlackBerry bussiness phone as always, but If you are a heavy user, this is not the phone for you unless you got a powerbank or replacement battery.

Also, I wander if there other ways to increase battery life?

On January 10, 2011, Microsoft announced Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5, the last windows mobile family product. since then it stopped supporting it's best mobile product

examples are closing market, not publishing fresh bing and skype, threatening us it will stop support on live messenger, stopping microsoft facebook app, iexplorer, fully stopping donations do third party software publishers. It is determined to kill this great product.

If microsoft had decided to evolve wm 6.5.5 to windows mobile 7 keeping backwards compatibility, i am sure it could keep windows mobile's big market share. instead of this it decided to create a monster mobile os (windows phone) totally closed, hardware dependent, non customizable. Google was smart enough to keep or adopt wm nice features and dominate with android

Microsoft is fool enough to expect after what it did to wm users (abandoning them), people to trust it again and buy it's new products (windows phone)

So i am opening a petition to show microsoft that wm users are still many and that we demand support, at least on the above products i mentioned.

Please vote here

Hey all...I just joined but figured I'd put a fix out for this problem. I searched all over and no one ever seemed to have the answer I needed(sorry if I missed it)

If you've got the problem where you can select your ringtones from the dropdown but they won't play when you click the play icon, and hitting OK will not close the window, this can possibly help.

I'm running WinMo 6.1 on a 910 Samsung Omnia, but I assume this problem will occur with any WinMo phone. From what I can tell, there is a bug with the file associations of sound files. I haven't gotten to test it yet(I fixed mine and quit looking after that haha), but it seems that for a ringtone to work, it's filetype must be associated with Windows Media Player (or at least not a 3rd party mp3 software).

I installed Pocketplayer, and thats when my problems began(I'd expect this could be a problem with other mp3 software that associates itself with audio files). I was only able to use one of the many ringtones that were listed and when I checked the files, they were all mp3 files except for the working one which was a .WMA.

Things to try:

1) If you've recently installed/started using some mp3 software, go into it's setting and uncheck all the file associations

--ex: in pocketplayer goto Menu>>More...>>Options... and hit the Associations tab.

2) Soft reset your phone. You may get lucky and this will work. It didn't for me because now pocketplayer wasn't manually associating the files, but in the registry it still was.

3) Get yourself a freeware registry editor. (If you don't know what you're doing, be careful. This is dangerous waters to play in and could brick your phone.

4) Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. Inside of here you'll see all the file extensions listed. If you open .mp3 and look at the "Default" value, it by default should be MP3File. Now if you've installed Pocketplayer, it will say "pocketplayer" or something to that effect. Edit this field to be "MP3File". If your ringtones happen to be another extension, then find that extension and do the same thing, but with its filetype before "File". (Ex: goto .wav and make it's "Default value" = "WAVFile")

5) Now a soft reset should have everything back to normal.

I'd think theres probably some kind of TweakUI program out for mobiles that I haven't used that will do this for you. If you're not comfortable messing with the registry, I'd search out a program to change file associations for you. May be easier, and definitely safer.

Hope that helps someone out. Again, sorry if this is out there, but I couldn't find it anywhere and it made me crazy for days.

Edit>> Crap I just noticed this was under the non-touchscreen section. Not sure if thats where I should have been...I guess it affects all of them. Do mods move threads in here? Sorry about that.

Hi,

my samsung omnia pro (original WM 6.1, never flashed) completely turns off after few minutes of idle laing on the table in standby state. It occured after no SW changes, so I fear it could be a HW problem.

Strange also is, that if there is some program running on the background like multimedia player or GPS tracking SW it remains OK and keeps in standby state.

Does anyone have an idea about the reason or solution? :)

I have read somewhere that it is quite common problem in windows mobile phones but this is my first WM phone.

I have had a number of hx4700s, more recently going for the WinMob6 upgrade version. The most recent has WinMob6.5 and because I download MS Outlook Contacts, put a 4 digit lock code, and one which I often use, into the PDA. Problem is it won't unlock. Have tried all variations but, to no avail. Have also tried the normal hx4700 hard re-set proceedure, but that doesn't clear the locking facility. If I can't solve this the PDA is ultimately useless. If anyone can help with this it will be greatly appreciated.

Hi all

I have an issue I have been googleing for days and just cant find the answer anywhere and was wondering if anybody could help?

My university email is hosted with gmail and I set it up on the default WM email client and everthing was fine and working perfectly until a few months ago.

Now everytime it tries to send/receive I get a 'Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected to the internet and that your mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download the messages again.'

I googled this, and everyone seems to be getting this message when they try and send mail rather than receive it. I can still send mail though, just not receive any.

I''ve deleted the account and set it up again, and it will download the 20 most recent emails and the message will pop up. If I try to send/receive again, I get the same message with nothing happening.

I've tried using both POP and IMAP and they both have the same issue.

Some other forums suggested leaving out the domain name when setting up the account, but that would mean it would automatically try and use '@gmail.com' and my university email has '@hope.ac.uk' although it uses gmails servers.

On a possibly related note/if anyone has any ideas about this problem. Around the same time this happened, the streaming app used for m.youtube.com stopped working. A few seconds of video would play and then I'd get a time out error. Works perfectly when connected through wifi though.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I start uni again in the next few weeks.

Thanks

I don't know whether this is a 503G issue or a general WM6 Pro quirk, so I'm cross-posting in both places.

The problem is that when I delete something in my Outlook Inbox, it gets cleared from the mobile device's Deleted Items folder the next time Active Sync connects, and there doesn't seem to be any setting that affects this. It should be controlled by Messaging - Menu - Tools - Options - Storage - Empty deleted items: - Manually, and indeed this setting controls my Yahoo account as expected, but does not seem to control the Exchange account.

In fact, the deleted e-mails are not completely gone -- they stay in Deleted Items in my Exchange mailbox and can be accessed via Outlook on my laptop, but that doesn't do me much good if I'm on the move and accidentally deleted something and need to undelete it right away.

Why can't I just have my Deleted Items folder in Exchange synched 1:1 like any other folder?

Any thoughts anyone?

Hi Guys!!

I have lots of questions regarding this Omnia II.

I just recently purchased it as a gift for my self, and I am having regrets about it.

Well, the main reason I purchased this phone is so that I can stay connected everywhere I go. (and I'm normally at home or the office)

I didn't bother purchasing an unlimited data plan, coz it is WAY expensive here in my country.

And I have free access thru wi-fi at work. I also love watching YouTube videos, mainly for MTV's.

I also use this phone to create reports, documents and some work related stuff.

I can actually use it, but it's a big factor to watch youtube. And I can't watch youtube with it, coz I'm using wi-fi.

I tried using 3g, and I was able to watch it with the streaming player thing.

But I can't afford that. All I wanna do is to be able to watch YouTube with Wi-Fi.

I did these.

Upgraded OS to Windows Mobile 6.5

Installed Opera Mobile 10 as my default browser.

I also installed FLASH PLAYER 7 (coz I thought it will let me watch youtube).

I also installed that TCMP and bundled flash player thing I got off of the net.

Everything failed.

I desperately need help.

I'm really not a very technical person.

Please help me.

Thanks in advance!

I have more follow up questions.

But this concerns me the most.

and 1 text just won't even give me the number saying it was sent my "unnamed"

is there somthing im missing here or can this just not be done?

Yesterday I was doing some work on the registry, using Total Commander, when I unintentionally clicked on one of the folders in the HKLM named "Samsung" changing the name in "z".

The device is a Samsung Pocket PC Windows Mobile 6.1. (Samsung Omnia i900)

The consequence is that I can access the phone, call, etc, but not run programs (edit: and I can see/read but not copy or modify files on the device) I have installed (that is Total Comander for example). As I have SKTools installed I also have a Registry BKP of yesterday afternoon (afterwards I still had some software installed) but now I also cannot run SKTools.

I tried with Mobile Registry Editor 1.1 and can see the "z" folder from my laptop, even export it, but now I do not know how to change the name and re-import it. I also tried REGED, but it wouldn't see the device.

How can I rename it to "Samsung"? Maybe I could install another REgistry Editor on the device (I do not see the other folders) and try to change it locally, but I didn't yet dare to do it.

Any advice?

Thanks

I recently upgraded my vario II from WM5 to WM6 (the T-mobile pre-release) and it seems to be a lot better. However, when I try to create a new word document, I get an error ('an error occured. The document could not be opened'). On checking the word options, it appears that the default template is missing, hence why it cannot create a new document. It does not look like I can tell it where to look for the template. Anyone have any idea how I can resolve this?

I can open pre-existing Word Mobile documents.

i hav a Samsung Omnia i900 wm6.1 phone wonderful, i just bought the omnia 2 (i8000) (both factory unlocked) but the omnia 2 comes with wm6.5 ...which after about a full 10 seconds of using i prefer 6.1 better (makes it look more like a pc) i looked throught the settings and found now uninstall or anything like that so is there away for me to downgrade from wm6.5 to 6.1???? i've asked this at sumsung omnias form and no1 could really help me since most ppl are trying to upgrade their phones but i would like to downgrade for my peace of mind. youtube n google have failed me i've seen how to flash and how to back up but non of them for the Omnia 2 so if anyone could help i'd like to try to :

back up my phone (rom) just incase

and then i guess flash 6.1 on to the phone ...

if there is no way to downgrade can som1 at least tell me how to just put 6.1 one it in place of 6.5 ...catch my drift?

Very sad news indeed. The French site www. nectun.com is closing its doors after 5 years. It has been at the top for giving high quality skins for Windows mobile. Its inevitable I guess as the days of customising Smartphones seems to be coming to a close. We would like to thank them and wish them all the very best for the future.
