Hi Paul,

I bought this one from eBuyer:

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/in...oduct_uid=89714

Great price, especially as it as WPA, but you have to use the drivers on this page for Windows Mobile 2005:

http://www.ambicom.com/support/installation/wl/sd/index.htm

Cheers,

Pete.

Does anyone do an SD wifi card which also has memory on-board? is such a thing possible with SDIO?

I don't fancy losing storage temporarily just to gain wifi.

I don't have an A701 yet although it's on the way ;)

Anyone wanna buy an iMate SP5? ;)

i was thinking the same thing myself TBH....ordered one of these cards there recently ( still waiting for it to arrive ) but it would be nice to have a dual card with 2 or 4GB onboard...

I read somewhere about a guy that took his device apart to expose the metal contacts on the SDIO slot. He then soldered a wifi card & tucked it away inside the device. This mod gave him wifi and since the slot was open he could add whatever size chip he wanted too. Not sure if I'd want to try it on the Mio but maybe an old device to see if it works..

That's just like the mod I saw, but on a different site. It would be quite the challenge to fit inside the A701 (maybe substitute the mini-sd wifi chip?). My big question is would there be a way to deactivate it when not in use, but still use the memory card...? Or would it always be on?

You should be able to deactive it from WM5 as if you just had the card inserted normally.

Hi All. First post ;) Have anyone tried using MINI SD WI-FI card like http://www.spectec.com.tw/en/sdw-822.htm with miniSD to SD adapter in A701? I would assume this way it doesn't stick out.

Welcome Alex,

you can actually get that mini SD WiFi card from Expansys:

http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=125665

Although I honestly would not know if this works with an SD to Mini SD adapter. It would also seem that the Mini SD card is a little larger than a standard mini SD flash card (a normal mini sd flash card sits in an SD adapter flush with the outer edge so as to appear as the same size as a normal SD card. It shouldn't stick out much more than 5 mm though.

I would be interested to know if anyone has tried the mini sd WiFi though.

...actually, just checked the Expansys forum for the mini sd card and someone has actually tried it already and found that it works:
