Oi! Come and chat! :)

Recommended Posts

Once upon a time the MoDaCo IRC chat room used to thrive with discussion of all the latest hot topics in the Windows Mobile community, all the gossip, rumours and even a few software developers beta testing their latest creations. Now...well...er...it's dead ;)

Why people? Why has thou forsaken the MoDaCo chat room? Come and chat! :)

>>SIMPLE VERSION OF CHAT ROOM HERE

>>JAVA VERSION OF CHAT ROOM HERE:) )

Useful Commands:

  • /nick blah - changes your name to "blah"
  • /join #modaco - joins the channel "#modaco"
  • /connect irc.modaco.com - connects you to the "irc.modaco.com" irc server
  • /quit - quit the chat session
  • /part - leave the chat room
  • /me says hi - would display as "nedge2k says hi"

Remeber, if you don't like the the CGI:IRC chat window, you can always download MIRC or any other popular IRC chat software and connect to irc.modaco.com and enter channel #modaco. There is even IRC chat software for PPC and SP like WMIRC.

Keep getting "Unable to connect: java.net.SocketException : Connection reset by perr : connect"

Maybe something to do with our work firewall

Will try from home, or maybe even WMIRC

Working fine for me and a couple others. Anyone else with nasty firewalls getting this?

Problem with the chat is you have say 8 members there online but they are not there to chat , ive seen many members come online and get no answer and go , probably never to return , which is a shame i remember the days when there was an active chat of 20 or more members , its a shame thats gone , probably an idea for the operators if your online maybe answering the members who come into the chat would build it up again, just logging in and then surfing the net or going to the pub is a waste of time and wont bring any new members into the chat mode which is something that is fun to do :)

Try /join #modaco after it says not on a channel. If it still doesn't work then it's prolly your work proxy/firewall. Try the "simple" cgi:irc client :)

I get it on both the imple mode and the java one.

Prob is the fire wall, any way around it?

i use mirc all the time as if the server changes or modaco is offline for some reason you can always find the modaco chat channel , now to see how many new members are on there :)
