What's the worst handset you've ever owned ?

Recommended Posts

While editing my signature to show my phone history, I realised I'd had some very dodgy handsets in my time !!

The worst was without doubt was the Siemens C35i - Damn awful all round it was.

Needless to say that one didn't last the full 12 month contract duration

Anyone want to share their handset horror's ???

Don't think I've ever owned a "horrible" phone, but did have a Siemens C45 at some point wich annoyed me quite a bit... primarily because you need to click ok 4-5 times in order to send an sms :)

My first thoughts have to be of the Roto Moto swivelly thingy I had the misfortune of owning. Aweful OS, dreadful screen, buttons, and preinstalled ringtones. Tacky :)

SPV E200. The E100 was pretty fun but the E200 was dreadful. Slow, poor battery life and crashed at least once a day wiping out everything on it. Lasted a week.

Second worst was the the Nokia N70! Big, slow and ugly, just like my first girlfriend. Lasted 7 working days.

ahh the Moto V80 - my ex owned that phone, and as was very common with that handset, the joystick fell off. The lights stopped working. The thing crashed. The screen cracked itself!

Bag of crap, and put me off Moto forever.

My current lass has a V3 tho and loves it - seems to be a nice solid little phone, but I just don't get on with it - talk about backwards OS!

My worst phone? has to be the Nokia 3510i - it was a dreadful thing to use, slow, tacky screen.. but the battery lasted me 5 days minimum most weeks. So I guess all the handsets I've owned have never been bad ones.. just some better than others.

The handsets you see in my sig, from the 6630 onwards are phones I've owned in the last 12 months :D

Hey, I change my mind a lot!

Where shall I start?? My first phone was an Alcatel One Touch Pocket - one question, whose pockets were THAT big?! The things are probably still being used as cheap building materials in the third world.

I then upgraded to a Motorola StarTac.... about two years after they were fashionable! What was the point of a small, slow, short-lived phone when everyone was flashing 3210's which were even smaller and lasted for ever and could do predictive!

This caused me to get a 3310, which was pretty decent until everyone over the age of 2 and a half got one with a ?2 off the market cover. It rapidly became the Ford Sierra of the mobile world.

Then got an Ericsson T68 which was great for about a month, then it broke. The replacement lasted a week. The next replacement lasted two hours, the next a day, the next didn't work when it was delivered. I was upgraded to a Sony Ericsson T68i which was great - for about three weeks. Then it broke, then the replacement broke, then the replacement broke.....

After 9 months and over 15 phones they gave me a Nokia 7210. This was just like being back with my 3310 again, just with a naff colour screen. It worked though so it saw through the rest of my contract (2.5 months).

Then came the SPV (original). Finally, something that worked better than I was expecting - thank you very much to the guys in the Orange shop for directing me to CoolSmartPhone when it had only been open for a couple of months.

From the SPV it's been all smiles, laughter, excellent games, DVD films and high quality porn all the way through the Original, a C500 and now an M500.

I've always been on contracts, so only change my phones once a year but it's still a bit harsh I went through so many years without owning a decent one! :)

Howay now Darko - honesty is the best policy and I can see a Nokia 3310 in the middle of your history.

Surely that must be classed as a blip at least.

Welcome to the forums.

Never had a really bad phone (except maybe for a pre-Sony original Ericsson thing from work back in the day!). More recently I had a Treo 600 which wasn't awful but niggled me on a few points, clunky OS, heavy phone, external aerial (urgh) and crap sync software.

Oddly enough the C35i is one of my most favorite phones ever - liked the shape and simplicity

Worst has to be the Ericsson T68i - it had a special sensor in it that detected how important the call you were making was - and if it was very important it crashed .... taking a whole 4 minutes to re-boot made this one seriously annoying phone .... Im sure they must make good phones now but it put me of for life

No, even the 3310 wasn't a blip. Nokias are nice, easy to use phones - or at least were, I haven't used any of the newer models. Yes, I changed phones fairly quickly but that was simply because it didn't have all of the features I wanted ^^

The 7210 was next to impossible to use...I wouldn't say its the worst.

I had to use my sister's Trium for about a week.....it wasn't pleasant at all :)

My worst would have been my, pre sony, ericsson R380i. I got it the first day it came into the local cellnet shop in town and was wowed by its groovy touch screen. yeah it was BIG and ome might say brick-like but it had a TOUCH SCREEN :P

in the time I had it i never did figure out if you could text without using the screen simply by using the keys like you could in every other phone in the world! It was just so hard to text whilst driving :D and it was even harder to do it when the back light broke so i had the phone in one hand, with the steering wheel and in the other hand i held the stylus and a lighter so i could see where i was pressing!

I cant believe i never crashed!!!! :)

Just remembered though, as much as i hated the r380i, i used it for ages as it had hte touch screen.

I can't think of a single reason why i got the nokia 7600 though, horrid phone which was just a disaster in every sense of the word!!!!!!

It's a toss between a Motorola M388xx something or other, dull phone, no predictive text, very basic. Or the Sony Ericsson T630i. The T630i wasn't bad, it's just the very limited SMS memory, broken SMS firmware (multipart messages failed often and I sent blank SMSs at time) and general dullness made me change it ASAP for a Windows Smartphone.

Looking at your signature, I'd say the Samsung A300 (if my eyes arent deceiving me!) would be the blip. Had a Nokia 3310 myself and thought it was a solid reliable phone with awesome battery life. Nowadays I'm more interested in the office abilities of my pocket PC's. I had a Samsung A300 too. Nice and compact, but god that phone didn't do ANYTHING! And considering my toaster has more features, it sure managed to lock up enough!

Lots of new members here - welcome to you all :)

I loved my 7210 - it was the first Series 40 phone I'd used, and it was a darn sight better than that bloody 3510i piece of crap.

These days I change phone far too frequently.. average phone life with me these days is 3-4 months, the little lady says I'm becoming obsessive :D

I dunno how you guys manage to get through soooo many phones without costing yourself an arm and a leg everytime you change. Or does it, and that's the bit you don't mention :) ?

I used to get excited about the latest phones but after getting the MDA Compact, I felt I finally got settled.

The rest of the phones just seem the same to me - I had the 6280 for a few days I got bored within a few hours :)

The only reason I have upgraded was cos of the keyboard in the Vario. I'll only upgrade again if they make it smaller and (possibly) add an internal GPS module.

lets just say it isnt all that cheap! But most times you can sell them on ebay and make yourself a few quid to pay off the contracts.

Before i started in the shop i was on O2 payg spending about ?15-20/mth, not i have 5 contracts and the minimum it can be is about ?120/mth, with it normally getting up to about ?150ish :D worst thing is, i am about average inmy sphop, i have known people with 9 contracts at work!!!!

I work hard I guess - iMac G5, Xbox 360, Canon 20D & 5 lenses, and the array of phones I've had over the last 12 months -- all of which I worked my ass off to buy.

for phones, eBay is your friend.. or when Orange is doing a crazy ?100 buyback + half price line rental.. ahh those were the days :P

in all honesty, I keep a phone for a while, flog it for similar price I paid for it, and move onto the next new one :)

Dead right moroni.

She who must be obeyed thought I was being a bit hard on the bairns when they went without shoes for a few weeks because I jumped in to get one of, if not the very first retail C500's - certainly in Newcastle it was anyway.

Needless to say I dismissed the fact it cost me a ton to "upgrade", but she never forgot !

Sneaked out of the office for a few hours I did as well, I can remember the buzz about that day still !!

SAD many would say.

Ebay is good for moving mobiles on though, always keep the orignal boxes, manuals and packaging myself.

I remember in times gone by when I was able to "negotiate" with Orange retentions over early 'ish upgrades. The good old days

I've just jumped to T-Mobile on an 18 month contract, and I know fine well that'll not last 18 months without a change.

Feel I must also mention the C550 is high up my list of bad handsets. I guess coming from what was the worlds best phone at the time - the C500 - proved just too hard an act to follow.

If I wasn't "big in oil" (Ha Ha !) I'd want to work in a mobile shop........

Certainly isn't a bad thing to be interested in these little blighters - as mum would say, its better than me wasting money on smokes and heroin! :)

I just wish tmobile would hurry up and get the 6280 in stock so I can start my flext tariff - there's no other phone they've got worth taking on a new contract at the mo.. but they're saying the 18th is the earliest they'll have the bugger! (which is fine for me, as I'm going to be in Venice until that day)
