Accelerometer bassed car dyno???

Recommended Posts

ok so ive seen this for the iphone

http://dynolicious.com/

and was wondering if here is anything like it available for the omnia or is anyone aware of anything like it in development?

the thing is i drive a nissan skyline and think this would be cool to use to get an idea of how the mods ive fitted to my car are improving the performance without having to pay over the odds to get the car dyno'd after each small step

i know it will never be 100% accurate but a ballpark figure can never hurt

Do you guys know good settings for Chronogps?

The GPS port is COM 3, but the program doesn't seem to recognize accelerometer. I haven't had time to go outside and test if it really catches the gps signal but I will inform you as I do

That is not good hp meter, in very strong suspension will show much lower hp than the real, in boat suspension will show 1000+ hp maybe...

But it is interesting

That is an amazing app, although I don't see the need of it with my Renault Espace (google it if you don't know it)

I have tried the HTC version but it doesn't even load properly. I have the HTC dlls (tested on other HTC apps) but this won't play ball

I tried 'Touch Pro/Diamond' version 2.11 and it didn't load, but 'Touch HD' version works (although background and buttons pixmaps are too big).

I'm not 100% sure on how it would do it. HP is a measurement in Watts (J/s). The only way I'd be able to calculate it would be to know the mass of the car, the acceleration the tire radius, and gearbox ratios.

You'd use the acc to calculate how fast the tyres are moving. Then you'd use the mass of the car to find the force. From that you'd calculate the torque. then do magic using the torque and RPM (in rads) to give the HP at the wheels.

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense. It's been a few months since I've had to do a HP analysis of a car.
