Not sure why you need to go back to the original Vodaphone ROM? I started with this and although I have a dump from when it was on my phone have not come across a way of reloading it. Not that I need to or would wish to either as the current ROMs are much better.

Battery life is a bit subjective I think and depends on how you use your phone. :D

If you really want to get back to Vodafone ROM then you need to download the official samsung update from http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/omnia/index.jsp Afer choosing UK type in ACHH1 in to the current firmware box this will give you the ACHJ2 download. To install this firmware you may need to change your country settings on your phone which will hard reset your phone including the 8/16Gb mass storage so backup everything first. You may also need to resolve the incorrect software version error which has been covered in many topics on this forum and is sticky'd at the top.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Now I have a backup and return to Vodaphone strategy too :)

Hi Col.W, I'm having same problem, need to return my phone for repair under warranty which is the reason I need to get back to my old Vodafone rom (ACHJ2).

I've already got the rom on my PC, just need some clarification:

....you may need to change your country settings on your phone...

To what? (I am in the UK, and have tried UK>Default (which, incidentally is T-Mobile) and I've tried UK>Vodafone postpaid (I'm on contract)

You may also need to resolve the incorrect software version error which has been covered in many topics on this forum and is sticky'd at the top.

Again, what would I change the setting to?

I have updated to many different roms and tried to revert back to Vodafone from each of them, but without success.

Currently I have DXHJ1 rom installed, and following info on version:

PDA: i900DXHJ1/DXHJ1

Phone:i900DXHJ1

I've looked at the Hex editor thing as well, but none of the solutions seem to fit this puzzle.

Any help (from anyone) would be appreciated as I need to get the phone off to repair ASAP so I can get it back - my SPV M5000 is like a brick in comparison!!

Cheers in advance,

Carlos.

Hi Carlos,

If your country is set to UK already then you will need to change the registry setting in the custom version section to ACHH1. You will also need to hexedit the ACHJ2 extracted update file to look for DX firmware rather than XX which is what the UK Vodafone firmware runs. Follow the tutorial for hexediting the file exactly, looking for the second XX entry from the end of the file. I havent gone back to vodafone rom but have gone back to the unbranded MSHJ1 myself. I had a problem getting the update to run and had to go through a 2 step firmware procedure. I used one of the DXHJ1 roms from the sticky at the top first which doesnt have a problem with incorrect software and then from there to the MSHJ1 official firmware using the incorrect software tutorial. Dont forget to backup your My Storage fully first. I used SPB Backup but lost all my photos and music cos I didnt doublecheck what it was backing up.

Sorry Carlos, I missed the other part. To change your country settings you need to run the Preconfiguration as mentioned in the sticky'd post on this page. If it is UK then you should be fine for the ACHJ update already. Check this page for instructions and help with the registry http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-r...ersion-message/

Hi Col, and thanks for the reply.

In the meantime, I have resolved the issue myself - The update didn't work when the country was UK etc., and neither did changing the reg entry to ACHH1.

Here's what DID work though, and I am so chuffed I'm going to go and

post it everywhere I can think of!!! lol

**NOTES: My handset was bought in the UK from Phones4U, Unlocked but on a Vodafone contract, so with their Branding.

I updated to OFFICIAL ACHJ2 when it was released, and I have tried a variety of other ROMs since doing that.

As I am having hardware problems with my phone (was having them before flashing the ROM) I have to return it to Phones4U for repair. This means I have to have the original Vodafone ROM back on it.

I do not guarantee that this will work for you, but if you find you are in the same situation, I see no reason why it won't.

Please note I will NOT be held responsible for any damage to anyone's phone through following these instructions, and if you are unsure on how to flash a ROM, please do not even consider doing this until you are.

As always, Please also remember the following:

!!!USE CUSTOM ROMS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

!!!CUSTOM ROMS CAN HARM YOUR DEVICE!!!

!!!CUSTOM ROMS WILL INVALIDATE YOUR WARRANTY!!!

Now, here's what I did (No registry or hex editing required):

1) Flash to DXHJ1 HERE

2) On completion of update, ensure you Soft Reset

3) Flash to Official T-Mobile Rom BOHH5 HERE

4) On completion of update, ensure you Soft Reset

5) Go to phone keypad and type: *#638738# - This brings up the "Configuration" menu because the *#1546792*# option doesn't do anything on branded ROMs - Change Country to "United Kingdom" - PHONE WILL HARD RESET.

6) Run Samsung Official ACHJ2 Updater for Vodafone ROM **NOTE** For some reason, my updater had "****EMERGENCY RESCUE MODE**** (or something like that anyway) - I selected this, left the other 2 boxes blank, and Hey Presto, the update worked!!

7) On completion of update, ensure you Soft Reset, and Voila! Vodafone Branded Omnia ready to be shipped back to Vodafone for repair!!!!

I Now have an Omnia showing:

PDA: i900XXHJ6/ACHJ2

PHONE: i900BUHJ1

If someone has a Vodafone Omnia on ACHJ2 ROM, I would be grateful if they can confirm these numbers to be correct.

Many, MANY Thanks go out to everyone on here who has posted details on flashing, how to change registry settings, hex editing etc., if it wasn't for me having so much information to help me, I'd never have done this, and £400 for a new phone? I think not.

Thanks to everyone for making this board such a great source of information, and in particular to those of you who spend so much time coding, cooking and releasing ROMs for us all to get the best out of this fantastic little (BIG) phone.

Hope this helps someone save about 2 weeks trying to solve this problem.

Cheers,

Carlos.

Well done and useful information :) . Just curious though how did you think to flash to a T-mobile official ROM and then to the Vodafone one?

Trial and error - I can't tell you how many I tried before that one, but I thought as it was an "Official" Rom, Maybe, just maybe.....
