Ok. So I made new goldcard again (2GB SanDisc) and did try to downgrade to RUU 1.76.405.1 with no luck. Next I tried RUU 2.73.405.5 and managed to install generic ROM with no T-mobile crap. I wasn't able to get root access using this guide so I went for flashrec method: http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-ro...o-in-one-click/ and now I have nice rooted Hero with Modaco custom ROM for my Missus. ............I'll stick to desire :P

Guest 42turkeys
Hi there, I have image 1.2.2 installed on my Hero. How can I update to image 1.6.2? If you're talking about the recovery image, download a free app called 'ROM Manager' and at the bottom of the menu tap 'Flash Amon Ra Recovery' and that will download & flash it for you. Guest gynoide
Hi, How can I make a dump of my recovery before flashing it ? I tried this : adb shell reboot bootloader fastboot boot recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img adb shell mount /sdcard adb shell dump_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-hero.orig.img adb pull /sdcard/recovery-hero.orig.img But the resulting dump file (5M) is bigger than the patched file (3,8M). I downloaded an unpatched recovery file (3,5M) but the source is not safe (as Modaco ^^). Any ideas please ? Thanks !

Try this thread from xda. From what I recall when this came up previously, there was a bug in the old nandroid backup code which could lead to some sort of corruption of misc. Iirc the solution was to flash a copy of misc from before then. If necessary, one can lift a usable copy from a suitable stock ROM. E&OE.
