T-Mobile UK and Orange UK officially ink merge agreement

Following from my previous post on Sept 8th about T-Mobile and Orange merging, it has now confirmed that they has signed the final paperwork to have these companies as 50:50 venture company. However it will not be completed until next year.

Parent companies Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom sign final papers to combine the two telcos in a 50:50 venture.

Quick update on the T-Mobile/Orange merge - parent companies Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom today signed the agreement to merge their UK operator arms into a 50:50 joint venture company, officially binding the transaction first announced in September.

The merge is expected to be completed in the first half of 2010, subject to the approval of the boards of both parent companies.

So, it's starting to make everything more official but more still need to be done until next year, i.e. what new name will they pick? Will we see new logo? Will there be some staff losses? New shops? Or nothing will change?

What do you think?
