Check out Updating to 1.15.405.4 / Generic'ifying your T-Mo handset. I have just ssuucceessffuullyy performed the ROM update on my store bought, orange branded, HTC Desire.

Good luck!

This I take it, And I apologize for my stupidity. Means I don't need to wait for this gentleman's Rooting for the HTC Desire correct?

EDIT>>>

I have since found this >> http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...e-via-nandroid/

I think this will help me, I thank you so much for your help. Say good bye Orange you evil money grabbers.

The official SPL only allows flashing signed (read official) ROMs.To get root access you need to flash an unofficial, unsigned ROM. As the ROM in the link is official, you should be OK.

The short answer is yes. You can cleanse your phone of the Orange impurities

Just to confirm - I successfully replaced the ROM on my brothers Orange branded phone with the generic one - it was painless

Just remember, rooting, or replacing your ROM with a non-official one, invalidates your warranty. Personally, I tend to wait until recovery images of official ROMs become available.

Yep but he is The Man :P

Yes that is becoming more and more apparent! First for everything when it comes to Android.

Paul; forget about that x10 that you ordered. Concentrate on the Desire ;-)

Hey Paul, just so you know, if you get sick of BT's shoddy service, I could probably get you a good deal on Virgin's Cable service as I work for them
