It ought to eliminate the need to burn anything or research virtual machines for those that don't know what they're doing? I've got an old version of QEMU and a .bat config file for launching it that I tweaked a little from another source {free to distribute} I'll try packing your custom ISO in with it and uploading it then post a link here. I'd test it on my own desire and create a youtube video for it but I'm still waiting for a few answers before I will do that. not yet downloaded paul tcl iso (waiting for mirrors), but i did so, to test things in windows: download qemu: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/downloads/QgOS.exe launch it, will create a qgos folder copy ANY bootable iso in that folder, and launch qgos.bat install the requested driver, for hardware acceleration, if you want TADA! nothing else! the bat looks for an .iso file, and launch it in qemu... now, if anybody wants to test usb pass-through to emulated operating system, we have a very simple solution for windows users :-) Edited April 29, 2010 by mrshark Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest gregDT Posted April 29, 2010 Report Share Posted April 29, 2010 I can confirm that Titanium backup is working fine after the root. A few extra points asked above. You will loose all your apps and settings doing a root. But nothing critical. When it's done it will be like when you first took it out of the box and powered it on. All the stock Android and HTC stuff will be there. When you make a goldcard it will need to be formatted. So anything on the goldcard is lost for ever. Therefore I suggest you use a second SD as a goldcard (I used a 2gig one) and keep your main one safe. Once the process is complete you can remove the Goldcard and put your original card back in. All your music, pictures etc will be there. Also any Android backup you did will be recoverable from the original card. If you also want apps2SD (a2SD) then the card you use will be formatted. If as, is likely this card is going to be your main card then copy all your important stuff off it and keep it safe. When you have completed the app2SD update you can put the main SD card back in repartition it and drag all your stuff back onto the card. When you mount the card in Windows you will still just see the SD card and not the new partitions they will be hidden from Windows. This isn't a problem. Guest sparklehedgehog Posted April 29, 2010 Report Share Posted April 29, 2010 why does my #@$%*** cards (yes two different makes) refuse to become gold cards when ive tried every sodding way documented, whilst in my phone, in an sdcard adaptor, redone the cid and image creations and still keeps asking to format after clicking save! is it ok to format after allegedly being turned into a Goldcard or does that wipe it's modification? So what is my best method to back up my phone right now (Don't want to lose all my contacts) Is the onboard 'People' backup adequate or is there a HTC Windows application that does a better job? Can't help you, just trying to vent my own frustrations: 4 (FOUR!) different cards (including the SanDisk 4 GB that came with the phone) from 3 manufacturers, 2 different computers, tried in phone, 2 different card readers and laptop's own card reader. No luck! Is it a sign that I must not root my Desire?!? The thing is I remember doing a gold card to root a friend's Hero some time ago and it worked, I have not bought another card since, so why, WHY isn't it working now. I feel like an idiot, Paul managed to crack the damn thing all by himself and here I am not being able to follow some simple instructions. Watching that video showed me what i was doing wrong and i had read and read the instructions over and over yet i still was clicking logical disk instead of physical disk. I mustve done it 20 times today and couldve repeated off by heart that it was meant to be physical but i still kept clicking logical and realised as soon as i watched it! P Still wont work, ive enabled usb debugging, i have adb drivers installed (i think) when i enter command prompt i go to where ive installed the android sdk, type adb devices. I then get it starting up the server thingy followed by it listing my devices serial but its shown as offline. I've tried re-installing, formatting the device everything but it wont work. My contacts weren't syncing up with Google as they were all 'Phone Contacts' just fixed that and both Contacts and Calender are now synced properly and I too use IMAP.
