huch.... i had to wipe and reflash due to some shity programm that badword up my com.android.settings (would crash every time i wanted to enter the settings-menu) and now all the italian APN-settings are back there - considering it was exactly the same bake i used before where no settings were there (i even did a wipe before, too), thats wired :-)

anyway paul, there seems to be no problem with the italian APNs....sry maid!

Just to let you know Paul that wiping stuff before installing the rom sorted out the missing widgets issue, also a few other things I never noticed before in the main menu! Thanks :D

I had the same until rebooted and then turn off/disable mobile data and then re-enable it

Just tried that and Mobile Network stick s on "Turning on" for an age then fails. If I switch to GSM only it works (slowly of course) but when WCDMA enabled no good!

Just found this in youtube and it works as well. Although it might well be the same one!

Check the last option in the Kitchen, just above Bake button.

Or disable signature Check in CW-Mod.

@Paul to bad about odex me option, is this a definitive no?

Maybe you've added to many options to the kitchen :D

Trying to install a new R8 bake and I get this error:

E:Can't symlink /system/xbin/bb

E:Failure at line 43:

symlink/system/xbin SYSTEM:xbin/bb

Should I try baking again?

For the people who want to try the DSP implemented for Froyo, and discussed some posts earlier, available here :

http://www.bel.fi/~alankila/android-dsp/

Please watch out, the new version (v15) seems to be incompatible with the MDC Froyo R8 RC1.

So make a Nandroid backup before trying.

Would somebody have kept a copy of the former version (v14 I guess) ?

Thanks,

J

Very strange, try doing 'adb shell mount /system && adb push Maps.r8.apk /system/app/Maps.apk' in recovery then 'adb uninstall com.google.android.apps.maps' after booting the device...

P

Still "Failure" when booted :/

c:\android\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb uninstall com.google.android.apps.maps

Failure

@ Paul,

I know this was asked before, actually I was one of the people to ask but I am not sure if it ever got answered. So, I bake some of the widgets into my ROM and flash the ROM but none of the widgets show up when you go to add widgets. But, if you go to Settings/Applications, they are all there, so obviously they are installed.

Any solutions to this issue?

EDIT: Problem SOLVED

Ok this is getting weird..i wiped everything and reflashed, new widgets appeared. I restored my titanium backups and now they are gone again even though the apks are present in /data/app...not the end of the world but i was craving to try new stuff :D :D

Please see my post earlier in this thread, you have to wipe the app data for HTC Sense and they will appear, even after restoring with Titanium:

"I had the same problem after restoring with Titanium Backup - no extra widget available.

I found a workaround, just clear the data for "HTC Sense" in Setting, Applications. All short-cuts of the desktop are lost, but at least the widgets are working now."

Here's the one I had working before that did something strange to the Boot Sound.

Yep, same thing here, the v15 block the boot sequence.

Luckily, I've found a v14 in my download folder :D

Clearing HTC Sense data did not help me and i cant get the modified maps to work. Seems like i have to wipe.. again.

I know I missed the discussion here but what's so special/the deal about the modified maps?

That's odd... what is your setup? A2SD?

Does 'adb logcat' show anything useful?

P

Yes, my SD card is partitioned for a2sd (512 mb / 64 mb swap, created with ROM Manager, if that makes any difference)

I cannot tell you if logcat told me anything, since I was not able to boot my phone. (to the other guy that told me to just wait, I waited a long time. And in case I didn't make it clear earlier, it kept REPEATING the boot screen. It came on, it started "writing" quietly brilliant, froze for a few sec, then went black for like half a sec, then picture came back, and the animation started again... Over and over and over and....

I baked a new r8rc1 with stock boot screen, instead of the modaco one, same same.

Any other info I need to provide?

I am currently back on r8wip, which works like a charm.

In many countries (incl. Sweden) you cant use the navigation feature in Google Maps, but in the modified version, you can. :D

You can read about the changes here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630887

afaik, lets you cache maps so less data usage, and i think nav works in unsupported (official) countries
