Current Version: v1.4 Release Date: 02.10.2010

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce everyone to J-MOD, my own variant of the Community Custom ROM r2a created by Flibblesan from these forums.

I got my first android device (T-Mobile Pulse) in May this year and have become a follower of the customisation scene for Android. Initially starting with Paul’s MCR 1.7 custom it wasn’t long before I began installing custom roms trying to get the best out of my device.

When Android 2.1 was released I immediately installed it and the decided to use FLB-MOD as this was, and still is, the most popular by far. After keeping up-to-date the progress been made to FLB-MOD and having to re-configure my phone after every update I began to think, what about creating a rom to your own liking to minimise the re-configuration after updating, this is when J-MOD was born.

The aim of J-MOD was to have a ROM customised to my owns, but after doing the work and realising how much I had learnt from these forums I thought I’d release it for anyone else to use.

I want to say thanks to Flibblesan for the work he did on the Community Custom ROM. Although J-MOD is not based on FLB-MOD, I have used little parts of FLB-MOD in J-MOD, so again thanks to Flibblesan for the work he is doing with FLB-MOD.

Please note: The ROM will always be using the Stock Android Launcher as default. You are welcome to install ADW or Launcher Pro from the Market if you so wish. If there is demand I may include additional updates to change the launcher to ADW or Launcher Pro.

Also, I am fairly new to creating custom roms so I am still learning stuff, if you come across an issue then do report it, but it may take a bit of time to implement the fix if I can.

This ROM is a work in progress. Whilst it is stable on my phone, I cannot gurantee that it will be stable for you.

Before I give details of the ROM, I want to give credit to the people who deserve it:

Credit goes to Flibblesan for the work on Community Custom ROM and FLB MOD.

Credit also goes to Ogiogi for the work done on the Expresso MOD v1.2.

Credit goes to dogde-167 and flip360 for the work done on the Expresso Themed Stock Android Launcher.

Requirements:

You must have updated your device using the T-Mobile UK Android 2.1 Update or TRE 2.1 Update first, with ClockworkMod Recovery installed second.

Click here to download the Official T-Mobile UK 2.1 Update.

If you are unsure what to do, then please take a look at the Ultimate Pulse Owners Guide

It needs a name :D

The only reason that I haven't installed a custom rom on my UK 2.1 Pulse so far is because it is faster and has no force closes.

Every custom rom I have tried so far slows it down and keeps force closing ;)

Good luck with your rom :D

I've been using this ROM for about 5 days with no force closes or any issues at all. Saying that I've not really had any issues with any custom ROMs I've used.

Something a little more meaningful please lol.....or I may just stay with Pulse Custom ROM.

Well I can't try it with a dead Pulse, and Jam can't try it with a Spica. But think, FLB-Mod is called that because it's maker is FLiBblesan MOD.

Lulz. Lucky Flib hasn't copyrighted the -MOD name for a custom ROM on the Pulse!

J-MOD sounds the best out of them all to me.

Installed it, but I'd recommend you to use LauncherPro instead of the stock launcher :D

The good thing about stock launcher is that you can easily change it to whatever you want and always have something generic to fall back on :D

The ROM will always be using the Stock Launcher. I will when I've some work done to the ROM include options to change the Launcher to LauncherPro or ADW.

I like "J-Mod".

However, while you are deciding, I've added your ROM to the Android Guide website: http://www.androidguide.co.uk/release/pulse-custom-rom-v10

Thanks.

Well looking at the thread at moment, it will either be JP-MOD or J-MOD, I'm growing to like J-MOD though.

Why don't people like Pulse Custom ROM?

Pulse custom ROM is quite a boring name. It's like naming the Pulse:

Phone made by Huawei, sold by T-Mobile running Android 2.1
