Orange care

Recommended Posts

I was thinking of getting orange care, then while reading about it on their site I noticed this statement

if you lose your phone or it breaks and you don't have insurance

Call 07973 100 150 to notify Orange. You will be presented with the two options below:

1. Emergency Care - costs just £30 inc VAT plus a subscription to Orange Care for a minimum of 12 months. You'll receive a replacement phone and be covered for loss, theft and damage to your phone. If you already have Orange Care, you're unable to get Emergency Care. See terms.

2. Emergency Replacement - For just £50 inc VAT, you'll receive a replacement phone only. Insurance is not included in this charge.

To find out how you can protect your phone from theft, click here.

Surely it's worth the gamble and not getting the cover? If you lose your phone you can get a brand new one for £50, or £30 + £60 to get a new phone with 1 years insurance cover. Am I missing something here?

As far as I am aware Orange Care offers 24hr handset swapout from point of diagnosis and report.

This is providing...

1) They have a free unallocated replacement handset.

2) They have a available timed delivery with their courier.

Also worth noting that you may be supplied with a recon/refurb phone, although they look exactly as new, but then that is the case for all mobile operators as far as i am aware, so I don't why I mentioned it!

There seems to be an echo in here... I pointed out the same thing two days back.... but with a significant difference. The above applies to PHONES. NOT (neccessarily) to "Smartphones". Smartphones (originally meaning the NK9210) are excluded and have their OWN tariff - where the one-off payment is a damned site bigger. As I left Orange's employ yesterday... I cannot check to tell you more. Ask Morpheus!

Just to add......I seem to remember when reading through my orange care t&c that when orange refer to your "phone" being covered under the orange care package that includes EVERYTHING that was included in the original box which is...... charger, usb cradle, phone pouch, camera attachment etc......NOT just the handset. Which is why i got sent my replacement usb cradle next day courrier delivery after i dropped it in some orange juice. hehe :)
