Is there a workaround to the "jump 2 spots" when in recovery mode? I can't seem to ever get it to land on backup and restore, and I'd like to nandroid this before I play further...

So for anyone else looking for the answer to this, it's holding down the volume keys, and then pressing power (instead of releasing the volume). A bit ugly, but it works.

I flashed the clockworkmod recovery v2.5.1.2 manually using adb shell. Now I'm stuck at the green recovery menu, can't navigate with the volume keys. Can anyone shed some light? Please...

if you're having the issue I described, then I provided the answer in the post directly above yours.

Thanks for the reply. Sadly, no. The cursor does not move at all, no matter which volume button or how hard/long I press it... When I press the power button or the (touch) Home button, the screen went blank and come back again if I do it again. I'm literally stuck at the green menu. The only thing I can do is reset it, but the same thing comes up again. If I do the 2x volume button reset, I get the default blue recovery menu (with android background), which I CAN navigate around. Any clues?

2) I can install Palevich Terminal Emulator and Better Terminal emulator, but how to input text? Where is the keyboard, is it possible and how to activate keyboard?

Many thatnks in advance.

I use a sdcard with 3 partitions: fat32 (no 1), ext (no2) and swap.

When I try to backup my system I get the error

E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)

(Invalid argument)

Can't mount /sdcard

Any help on this?

Thanks,

qr

Edit:
Problem is solved: I somehow managed to create partitions in wrong order : It is important to create the fat32 first, then sd-ext and swap.
Hi,

I have been trying to root my device (Olivepad VT100) but am facing quite some issues due to which I cannot reach this step of flashing roms. If you don't mind, could you help me here:

After trying to root using superoneclick, though the initial message after running rageagainstthecage says rooted, it failed to copy su, busybox etc on to the system... due to this the rooting failed.

On further investigation, I have noticed that the OS partition of my system has only 32kb space remaining. Is this normal? What should I do here :-( Help...

Finally, is there any way I can force reboot my system to flash to the rom backup I made, using any means? (i.e. pc adb etc) Is there any way I can force the system folders in?

Note: I am moderately comfortable with Linux shell commands and terminology, Just in case I need to get my hands dirty, I'd be more than happy to (been long since I used Linux, and I am not proud of that fact :-( )

Hope you can help

Regards

Ben

mtd5: 01a00000 00020000 "hidden"

mtd6: 00060000 00020000 "dbgmsk"

mtd7: 0a000000 00020000 "system"

mtd8: 00200000 00020000 "misc2"

mtd9: 05800000 00020000 "cache"

mtd10: 0ab80000 00020000 "userdata"

# cat /dev/mtd/mtd3 > /sdcard/orirecovery.img

# su

# flash_image recovery /sdcard/cwrecovery.img

mtd: not writing bad block at 0x00100000

My problem was that when I want to enter to Recovery mode, than VP7 shown "ENTER RECOVERY MODE" but did nothing. Due this I was not able to wipe data via menu in Android setting or by any tools like SUTL.
