Android 2.3 Keyboard on CM6!

I have attempted to modify the LatinIME apk found in the gingerbread sdk emulator.

I changed some values to allow it being installed to Android 2.2 (CM6 port by TOM G)

You will need root access and you will need to remove the LatinIME.apk

from /system/app before copying this apk to /system/app. (or you could overwrite it...)

I, personally, used root explorer to replace the apk in /system/app and it is working very well for me

If you don't feel comfortable doing this, then DON'T

PS. You will need to re-enable Android Keyboard under the language and keyboard settings

Hope you enjoy it,

Abdullah

PPS It does not seem to be working for most people. I dont know why it is working fine for me... i might have made an error whilst signing it or so...

anyways @SeraAndroid (http://twitter.com/#!/SeraAndroid) has mad a flashable zip which is supposed to work fine. The zip can be downloaded here:

Are all the standard languages available?

Like Swedish.

If Svenska (Sverige) is swedish, then yes it is available. There are many languages available but only some have dictionaries installed. the languages with dictionaries are:

German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Svenska (Sverige) (which i think is Swedish)

But apart from the dictionaries, All the standard languages are available ( in the list anyway)

The update zip works, but the '&' key on the keyboard is messed up. It's showing the XML code '&' on the key...

The Keyboard kept FC'ing on me after boot - I just changed my Input Method (by holding on a text input) to the 2nd android keyboard and it worked. I think there's some remanence of the original keyboard that's screwing things up.

Also, auto complete isn't working for me - it's as if it's not reading my dictionary. Anyone else having this problem?

This work nicely on CM6/1

Is there an hdpi version for nexus one? Also does the English dictionary work on the update.zip?

So sorry have no idea why it posted three times.
