Stock Gingerbread ROM?

Recommended Posts

I think CM shows that Gingerbread on the Blade can be done, but I'd prefer stock Gingerbread where I can add any bells and whistles myself if I need them.

Is anyone working on this?

Was this what kallt_kaffe was thinking about when he abandoned JJ?

I emailed to find out what he was upto these days but didn't get a reply, maybe he's busy working on it or just lost interest in the wake of CM.

Maybe he is busy with the real world guys :D

I do think a stock 2.3 would be nice but i'd pick CM any day. It's just as clean...after you remove rom manager :D With tons more optimisation and options.

Well after the latest news from Google (old versions of Android will be restricted from the Market), ZTE (and other manufacturers) will update their phones even faster. So we can get Gingerbread soon if Google does this step :D

I read it on hwsw.hu what is a Hungarian IT news site. They mark MWC 2011 Google Pavilion as the source.

That's rubbish, google and android are open, manufacturers do what they want. I have never read something like that on the big android sites.

Does that just refer to really old version such as 1.5 & 1.6 tho?

That's rubbish what you say, Google isn't open. If it was, you could easily get Market's or GMail's source, what is not public. That's all about your openness...

@TrashMan:

Nope, it applies to the whole scene. Google actually wants the manufacturers to really update the devices, and have no such delays like the Xperia X10 or Galaxy S.

I'd like to see a stock Gingerbread. I like everything vanilla, and also there's the point that I don't know which changes to attribute to Google, and which to CM

If you took the time to investigate you'd see it's rather easy to make the CM build be stock, or close to stock. Just remove all of the CM customisations (they're obvious) in the zip (EXCEPT ADW or else the phone won't boot) boot the phone, install gingerbread launcher from the market, and use titanium to remove ADW. Simple.

I havnt got much time to work on this because of my studies and shiz but i got an AOSP build to boot, not much working meh. The most crappy thing as usual is the screen upside down due to surfaceflinger.
